11. Trouble is blushing

"Do something" April mumbled flustered.

"Alright, calm down homies, neither of you will take her, I'll drop her off",  Maddy came in between Roy and Dew who looked like two bulls in the arena ready to fight each other to death.

"Take care, if you need anything gimme a ring" Dew spoke a few more things to April before she got in Maddy's car. Ace too left for the base to check on some affairs of rolling stones.

Only Dew and Roy were left off at the last. Dew wrinkled his nose as he walked toward his SUV. As he is about to unlock the car door, the keys in his hands were snatched away by a taller silhouette behind him.

"You drank a little too much a while ago, you are not eligible to drive" Roy took over the driver's seat. Dew wanted to resist his advances but he didn't have the energy to argue with anyone anymore. He's had enough arguing today in the company. Silently they rode towards their destination.

Inside Maddy's car, she put on loud cheerful music, "You haven't answered me yet" she shouted at the top of her lungs.

"About what?" April claimed ignorance.

"Duh! Who else? of course that hot guy, Roy, what's going on between you two?" Maddy asked the obvious.

"Well, I don't know as well darling. It's like he appears whenever I am in a danger like a knight in the shining armour but when I tried to sweet talk to him, he just looks plain uninterested" April scratched her head.

"That's um...interesting" Maddy contemplated, "but in any case, he is a good catch, why don't you try working things out with him?" Maddy suggested.

"We'll see" April blushed a little.

"And what's with that teenager? how do you know him?" Maddy asked.

"He used to work for June and June seems to be a little protective of him" April answered.

"I see that explains," said Maddy Things are going to get interesting thought, Maddy.

Familiar beans and bacon smell surrounded her senses. She took off her shoes and immediately ran towards the kitchen counter with a cheerful face.

"Did you have dinner already?" June asked concentrating on rinsing the boiled beans at hand.

"There is always a room for some beans and bacon" April came near June. She noticed the sweat profusely formed on June's side-whiskers. She took a kitchen towel and wiped the sweat off his face gently.

June suddenly stopped what he is doing. He felt a little uneasy and avoided her. "What are you doing?" he asked flustered.

"Of course helping you out" April answered innocently.

"Uh...set the table then" June pushed April out.

"Nah let's just watch something and eat on the couch" April plopped onto the couch taking the TV remote.

Suddenly April felt something is off.

"Did my mother drop by?" she asked June.

June's hands involuntary stopped chopping the vegetables. He mumbled, "No, why do you say so?"

"Nothing it's just the couch smells the same scent mum uses," April said casually.

"That.." June didn't know how to cover up the fact that Lara indeed visited him.

"Ah, I am such an idiot, your outer coat is still here someone who visited the shop uses the same scent as my mum. Why would I think she will come here? After that night she just ignored me. I will see how long she will continue to do that. Let me see, once dad is back, he couldn't resist his cute daughter's charms" April gave a satisfactory smile.

"Stop with your theories again, if Mr Roger knew what you had done, I don't think he will support you either" June was straightforward with his words this time.

"But.." April didn't want to drag the matter anymore. She knows no one would trust her. She had drunk and driven in the rolling stones and crossed the arena to the public area. That's what everyone says and if everyone says that it must be true. Even her own attorney didn't believe her and helped to close the case stating she ran low on her blood sugar while driving.

June set down the warm beans and bacon pot onto the coffee table.

"Umm..." April quickly had a couple of bites while blowing on to her food for it to cool down.

"Seems you are hungry, I thought you might have had dinner already, Didn't you say you were meeting Dew?" June asked.

"Well..haha...it's so funny...I mean we did meet...we just had dinner and a few drinks as well... but..erm...you know what your beans and bacon are the best. How can I resist the temptation not to taste it?" April shove a spoonful into her mouth to stop digging the grave that she is making for herself deeper.

"Eat more then" June served more to April as he smiled a little as his eyes fixated on the cheerful face in front of him.

Suddenly, his phone rang frantically. June had a complex expression.

"Who is it?" April asked curiously.

"It's..it's Niel, he asked if he can come to work from tomorrow, can't believe he would actually come back," June said with a doubtful tone.

"Hmn of course why won't he? Erm... I mean where else he can get an awesome boss like you?" April adjusted her expression.

There is still some disbelief in June's expression for a while. Soon after he recalled Lara's words. "I have something to tell you" June sat straight and looked directly into April's eyes.
