10. Trouble from the start

The calling bell has been rung twice by the time June opened it.

A pleasant smile accompanied by an elegant attire greeted June.

"Come inside, Mrs Parker" June welcomed her.

Lara took a seat on the sofa as she placed her expensive designer bag on the side.

June brought the warm tea to her. Lara took a sip slowly as she felt her senses refreshing. Warm tea on a cold windy autumn day is the best after all.

"I hope April is not troubling you a lot" Lara put down the cup on the tea table.

"Of course not Mrs Parker" June smiled a little.

"No need to be polite, I know my daughter well" a hint of mockery and despair can be heard in Lara's voice.

"Mrs Parker but April is much more than you think. She may be a trouble maker but she knows her limits. She'd never do something that will affect other people." June backed up April.

What June said is true. April is a little immature and likes to against the norms. But whatever she did she makes sure it will only affect her not the others.

"I know but she let herself loose on rolling mine drunk. Not only she could have harmed herself but could have put someone else in danger" Mrs Parker sighed.

June didn't know what to say to that. There's truth in Mrs Parker's words this time. Observing June's silence Lara continued.

"Thanks for listening to my request. Mother is quite adamant about getting April into the company after her birthday but April's not ready for such responsibility. I don't want our employees and the clients to suffer cuz of her childishness. She only listens to you. So you must teach her that responsibility" Mrs Parker sighed.

Previously when April fought with her mum and came to June's place, Lara arranged a secret meeting with June. She asked June to teach April the basics of managing an organization step by step. If it's in their own company April will do whatever she wants. But with June, She'd listen to him.

June is a very smart guy. Mrs Parker knows this. He had been an anonymous consultant to Parker association and played a big part in getting many deals. Mrs Parker requested June to join their company officially on many occasions but June profoundly resisted. He wants a peaceful life looking after the little store his parents left for him. He doesn't want to indulge himself in the corporate madness.

"April's smart. She's picking up things quite fast at the store. I have put her on sales recently. In a few weeks, you can let her start small at the company and she'll be ready by her birthday " June reassured.

"I hope so too" Lara sighed. "Is April still at the store?" she asked as she noticed the clock struck 9.

"She said she's meeting up with Dew," said June.

"Dew didn't mention anything like that to me" Laura paused and then smiled "Well it's not like they have to inform me about their plans and besides it's Dew she's meeting up with. Only Dew and you, I can entrust April to" Lara smiled.

At the rolling mines, April wanted to ignore that irritating person but she couldn't how much she tried.

She rolled her eyes as she placed the beer glass on the side and made her way out of the tent. She saw the young teen being restricted by two buff guys in questionable attire.

"What happened?" She asked.

One of the buff guys sneered "Little chick, it's better for you to stay away from this matter"

"Unless you want to lose a leg or a hand don't dare to mess with her" Roy immediately howled like a hungry wolf.

April was puzzled. Since when did he become so protective of her?

Before the buff guy on the right was to say something back to Roy, he noticed Ace who followed up along with Maddy and Dew. The buff guys immediately tensed up "Sorry sir" they apologized in unison.

Ace is the heir of the owner of rolling mines after all.

"What's the matter?" Ace questioned.

"This little brat lost the bet and is trying to get away without paying the amount, it's his second time doing this, the first time he got lucky he escaped, he shouldn't have pushed his luck further and come back to the rolling mines" one of the buff guys explained.

"Take care of the matter silently" Ace signalled with his head as he doesn't want their little party to get disrupted.

The buff guys pulled Neil by the collar and were dragging him out as Neil profusely resisted.

"What is going to happen to him?" April asked Ace.

"Well he will get a beating or two for sure and as for the money, they might go after his family or his workplace" Ace commented.

Go to family or workplace? Uhoh... I knew he is trouble from the start, April rolled her eyes. She remembered the other day June was inquiring about Neil's whereabouts anxiously. June cares for this brat for some unknown reason. Now, these guys might go to June for the money which only makes him worried more for Neil. She shouldn't let this happen to her best friend.

April involuntarily called up "Wait ". Neil looked puzzled and so as the others.

"I'll give you the money he owes you, release him," she said.

Roy, Maddy, Ace and Dew were surprised a little.

"You hear her, leave him" Dew straight up pulled a bunch of banknotes from his coat pocket. Dew didn't know for what reason April wanted to save this stranger but if that's what she wants she will get it. In Parker's mansion Lara and her mother were always strict with April but her father, Tim and Dew always spoiled her.

"I don't need all of your pity, let them beat me up, I don't care" Neil roared.

"But I do" April intervened. "I am not doing this for free. Come to the store from tomorrow onwards and don't you ever tell June you saw me here today" April made a deal with Neil.

After the commotion got settled, "It's getting late now, I should leave. April, I will drop you off, common" Dew proposed.

"I will drop her off, I'm not entrusting her to someone like you who can't drive properly" Roy came in between.

"You.."

"April, isn't Roy being a little overprotective of you? Tell me huh what is going on between you two" Maddy whispered to April as she giggled profoundly.
