13. Let's make some trouble

April tied her hair in a ponytail indicating her annoyed mood.

June peeked at her from the corner of his eyes, his hand still on the steering wheel.

"Are you going to tell me or do I have to ask?" April huffed.

"What is it?" June pleaded innocence.

"Why did you help her?" April asked her tone full of frustration.

"She needed help so I did" June answered calmly.

April rolled her eyes "You should have just abandoned her there, she would have known the taste of her own medicine" April mocked.

"Common, it's been so long, I have forgotten it long time ago" June's face void of expression.

"You might have forgotten it but I couldn't and I wouldn't. If I see her next time..." April's voice agitated.

"We have arrived" June cut off her words. They have finally arrived at the hotel where the conference is going to be held.

April and June went to their rooms to take rest for the night.

But June couldn't sleep at all. "You have never loved me in the first place" those words rang in June's ears continously. His face showed a slight hint of sadness.

The dawn broke with cheerful faces and lively voices across the hotel. The conference rooms were jam packed with men and women in suits.

For the morning half April could only dream of sneaking into the casino while June tried his best to keep her attentive.

There has been a small quiz at the end and the winners are asked to join a special session afterwards. June is one of the winners and he left April at Hall A reluctantly.

Without June there April dozed off already. But soon enough a knocking sound on the table woke her up.

She was shocked to see the familiar faces infront of her.

"Shut up! What are you guys doing here?" April's eyes lit.

"I must ask you that sweet, what are you doing here?" Maddy answered with a question.

"June wanted to attend this conference, I was just tagging along" April answered.

"Interesting" Ace brushed his hands through his air. He looked slick with gelled hair and sharp eyes. A number of heads turned towards his side involuntarily.

"What's so interesting?" April asked.

"Haven't you noticed?" Ace pointed his finger all around the room.

"What?" April looked oblivious.

"Everyone in this room belongs to the fortune 200 companies in the country" Ace stated.

"Yup, Ace and I are here cuz our parents wanted us to mingle with the other big shots" Maddy nodded her head supporting Ace's words.

"Isn't it interesting that June is invited to this conference which is only reserved for the millionaires and billionaires?" Ace asked.

April was surprised a little. What Ace said is true. Previously she just dozed off and didn't notice but now she took time to look around and has already identified a few familiar faces.

"He must have his connections, I mean he's the alumni of Winterford business school afterall" Maddy speculated.

"Must be" April contemplated. "Leave that let's make some trouble tonight, shall we?" April rubbed her hands playfully.

"Not possible" Maddy sighed.

"Why?" April asked.

"There's is a meet gala in the evening, dad said I should not miss it" said Maddy.

"Same here" shrugged Ace.

"Alright meet gala it is then for tonight" April yawned.

April looked ethereal in the white blouse dress she selected. June's eyes twinkled at the sight secretly. She made June wear the blue jacket she bought for him and styled his hair for him.

"Do you know the motto of the meet gala tonight?" June asked.

"Ofcourse eat, drink and get wasted , if there's a chance get laid! June me tell you, the chance of you coming alone to your room tonight is very slim, you're killing in this suit" April passed a cheeky comment.

"Sprouting non sense already" June coughed. "There will be many people from the fortune 200, you should make some good connections tonight. " said June.

"You're are the one expanding your business then why am I making connections? " April asked doubtfully.

"Did you forget? You're working for me now Einstein, ofcourse you shall be contributing to my business expansion" June adjusted his outer coat.

"Right " April bit her tongue.

A grand venue with white curtains accompanied by lavender decorations welcomed the billionaires all over the country. Expensive wine, expensive food, expensive people all around. June felt a little awkward. This is not a place he's used to and not a place he wants to get used to. But tonight he is here because of the word he gave to April's mother.

April rolled her eyes at the fake people trying so hard to appear elegant. Even though most of them belong to the same bunch, the rich bunch, April was never into the sophisticated stuff like her mother or grandmother, her spirit is more wild in a sense.

Suddenly her eyes caught the beauty in the center in a sexy black one piece. She's is surrounded by a couple of men who seemed to be trying hard to impress her.

"The snake is here too" she felt her viens popping up with anger.
