12. Attracting trouble

"What is it?" April asked excitedly.

"In a couple of days, I'm visiting a business conference in Victoria, I want you to go along with me," he said observing the expression on April's face.

"Of course, hell ya, we can drop by the casinos and the trek ways after you finish your conference" April's face lit.

"Well you should be attending the conference as well" June spoke meekly remembering Lara's words.

"How boring" April rolled her eyes but soon adjusted her expression looking at anxious June. "Alright I'll accompany you to the conference but we shall be visiting casino cape on our way back, promise?" April made a hand gesture.

June thought for a second and saw no other option than to accept this deal if he wants April to start making connections for Parker industries.

"But, why a conference all of a sudden?" Asked April.

"Erm..want to keep the business growing. Planning to open a pet cafe" June lied.

April is surprised a little. Over these years he never had any plans of expanding his business nor join any company. He was content with his little pet store and the apartment his parents left. He hated complicated stuff. Nevertheless April was happy that June decided to do something new in what other people call a boring life.

"Wow if it's about a café ofcourse you shall discuss it with Dew, he manages a lot of our cafe and restaurant businesses" suggested April.

"Uhm" June nodded his head meekly.

"Be careful when you feed them, not too less not too much, on time, got it?" June was listing out the things on a piece of paper.

A slightly annoyed face nodded his head and left. It's Neil.

"It's okay I'll make sure he doesn't cause any trouble" Ri smiled reassuring June. As he is leaving for the conference June planned to hand over the store to Ri and Neil.

June shoved a little envelope into Ri's hands.

"June, no..I don't need..." Ri tried to resist.

"I know new semester is around the corner, keep it with you"

"But.."

"You don't need to feel bad, you are working overtime, so I'm just paying you for that" June smiled a little.

Of course, Ri knows the amount was way too much when compared to the time she will work. June is always like that. Ri is a graduate student and an orphan. She needs to take care of her living and studying expenses but because of her studies, she cannot work long hours. June is kind enough to understand her situation without her saying a word and helped her out from time to time. She couldn't help but smile as appreciation filled her eyes.

"June, June" suddenly a voice broke out as the staff room door was opened with a thud.

It is April. "Let's go, it's 6 pm already" she cried at the top of her lungs.

"Coming" June replied as he handed over the keys to Ri.

"Is it really necessary?" June asked April.

"Of course, it is" April locked arms with June and dragged him along.

Within a few minutes, a luxurious designer boutique welcomed them. April got busy selecting outfits for June. She selected a nice blue coloured suit for him to try.

"I am not going to any fashion parade, why do I need this?" June scratched his head flustered a little.

"Of course, you have to look good, you said it's a business conference" April excitedly pushed the outfits into June's hands.

"These are very expensive.." June tried to reprimand.

April pulled out a black card from her purse and flaunted it. It is the card Dew gave her.

"I don't want to use your Parker family's money," June said firmly.

"Of course, not you but I'll be using it. As for these suits, i'll be paying with the part-time money I have earned" April winked as she started to check some outfits for herself.

As April got busy trying her outfits in the trial room June's eyes laid on a bright red scarf which reminded him of the red lipstick April likes to wear. He thought it goes well with her. Suddenly his excited expression turned to a slight helplessness and he dropped the idea of buying it.

"How is this?" With long black hair complementing the white one-piece April looked like an angel that June couldn't take his eyes off her.

"Good" June smiled a little awkward.

"Can i drive the car?" April asked excited.

"Victoria is quite far, it's already getting dark" June reprimanded her softly. But April knew that June still couldn't trust her with driving after that incident at rolling stones. She felt a little disappointed but understood where he is coming from. If she's in his shoes she wouldn't believe herself either.

"Let's start already it's getting dark like you said" she smiled.

After driving through the rough hills filled with autumn colors, the roads become more and more winded and the autumn winds more chilly.

"Close the door, you'll catch a cold" June spoke softly.

A small light blinking in distance attracted June's attention. He immediately understood someone's car broke down and he stopped to the side at once to help them.

"June, don't go out, this road is notorious for having highway robbers, let's not attract trouble" April warned.

"You're right but what if it's actually someone who's in need of help? this area doesn't have a good mobile phone signal reception. Moreover what if they encounter the robbers staying like this? I will be careful, you stay inside" June stepped out of the car with the torch light in his hand.

April was right he indeed attracted trouble.
