"Educate your daughter better" a lady in grey hair with a grumpy-looking face scorned sipping on her tea without even casting a look onto the people around."Mother, you know April is still a kid..." April's mother took her side.
"Still a kid, hmph" the old lady scorned again, "when you were at her age you've got yourself a competent man and gave birth to April. When I was at her age I single-handedly managed Parker industries" she paused setting her eyes on to a middle-aged person in glasses in front before continuing "while someone is busy in indulging themselves in debauchery"
The person in the glasses who was about to put a piece of steak in his mouth after cutting just stopped staring guiltily towards his plate with his head down.
"Where is she now anyway?" the grey-haired lady, Mrs.Parker, April's grandmother asked April's mother.
"She...erm..." April's mother, Lara hesitated as she knew Mrs. Parker doesn't like June much either.
"Hmph, those low lives with no family, no parents will only cause trouble, it's just a matter of time" Mrs. Parker this time scorned looking at the young man who's sitting beside the man in glasses.
"Anyways, make sure she's ready by her birthday" the grey-haired lady got up with the help of a servant and walked away.
"Don't take mother's words to heart" Lara pressed on to the shoulder of the man in glasses, Tim Parker.
Tim Parker is the bastard son of the late Mr.Parker. Before his demise, Mr.Parker took a word from Mrs.Parker that she'd accept him as a family member. Lara and Tim got along very well despite being half-siblings but Mrs. Parker is still sour of this son from her husband's secret affair. But she could only gulp down her anger and welcome Parker family doors to Tim in honor of her late husband.
"It's okay" Tim adjusted his glasses and smiled at Lara.
After Lara left, Tim turned towards the young man beside him, "April must have told you already where she's right? your aunt has canceled April's credit card, meet her and see if she needs anything. Give her this card" Tim instructed the young man who nodded his head timidly.
Tim looked at this timid yet nice fella with fatherly love all over his eyes. The young man is Dew Mccarthy. Some twenty-odd years ago before entering the Parker family, Tim used to be a small car mechanic. There he met a single mother and fell in love with her. Her son is Dew. Due to sickness she passed away entrusting Dew to him. Though not of his own blood Tim always treated Dew as his own son. When Mrs. Parker asked Tim to enter the family he said Dew will come along with him and if not, he doesn't want to have anything to do with the Parker family.
Just like Tim anticipated April already updated things to Dew. Dew took the card and some essentials to June's pet shop.
Dew always liked to visit the pet shop now and then with April. He's just a timid guy who felt at peace with little furry friends rather than the scheming humans. Humans who never miss a chance to tell his place as a nobody in Parker's household. But he tries not to pay too much attention to it as at least his stepfather Tim, April, and her mother are nice to him. As for April's father, it's been ages since anyone saw him. He's always on one business trip or the other living in his own world.
Dew slowly pushed open the glass door with a sign "June's pet care" on it. His eyes searched around the familiar grounds for the familiar person. But this time he was encountered by a 6-foot strangeness.
The other party is not only tall but well built and his eyes sparkled like a hungry wolf. He growled, "What are you doing here?"
What would anyone do in a pet store? He is asking as if someone entered his own property not a business area.
But given Dew's personality, he quickly panicked, his honeydew eyes flickered and his back slightly crouched and he is at a loss for words. He blankly stared at the taller person in front of him.
"Oh my...I'm very sorry. He's new here, what do you want?" Suddenly a feminine voice cut in. She came in between Dew and the tall guy.
While all this is happening, Dew finally found the familiar face he is looking for with a familiar voice resounding around the room.
"Deww.....I know you'd come to see me" April ran towards the group of three at a light speed and jumped into Dew's arms at once.
June shook his head at the sight and left a heavy sigh.
