Saturday Morning
Sarah was on her way to the airport with Tony driving her. She was poring
over some documents when her phone rang. She picked it up and saw that it
was Angelo, probably calling due to the meeting with Sony Music. She
answered the call.
"Hi, darling. I managed to finalize the meeting between us and the investor.
It'll be right before we go to see Disney on Ice. Hope this wasn't too much
trouble to do."
"No worries, I'll be back on Sunday, this is just a short jaunt. I've looked over
the proposal and this seems to be going in our favor. I'd just like to clarify a
few issues with this guy and we'll be all set. Speaking of which, who is this
investor of yours? Is it someone from Sony Music?"
"He's really popular guy in the business. You'd better come here and see him
for yourself. I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise for you."
"I don't really understand but...very well. By the way, don't forget to pick Ria up
from home and bring her to the office. I can't do it myself and it'd really save
time if you did it. I'll handle things with the investor in that time. Just entertain
yourselves okay?"
"No problem. Really Sarah, you don't know how much this means to me."
"To paraphrase you, 'no problem'. But you're taking me and Ria out to dinner
at her favorite restaurant after the movie. This is her day we're making use of."
"Of course. Anything for little Ria."
"I'll be seeing you tomorrow then."
"You too. Have a safe trip Sarah."
"Thanks." Sarah finished and ended the call. A few minutes later the car came
to a stop at the airport. Tony got out to unload a few important items and her
small luggage. "Tony, kindly pick me up at noon tomorrow. Don't forget to
remind Angelo about Ria before you leave alright?"
"Yes, ma'am."
Sarah went inside the terminal with Tony on her heels. She checked her flight
and Tony helped her load her luggage on the gurney. She had another
meeting in Texas with the board members of Corleone industries there. Her
grandfather was busy in Boston so it was up to her to take over for him. Stock
reports given to her also showed there being problems originating from Texas.
She needed to check things for herself.
When she finally arrived in Texas, she had time before the meeting and
decided to reread the proposal from Sony Music. At the end of the document
was Gerald Salinger's name. Sarah sat straight with a start. She didn't want to
believe that Gerald himself would be the investor that Angelo talked about.
But given what Angelo said about it being some hotshot musician, it made too
much sense. She still hoped that she wouldn't have to meet him, especially if
he found out about Ria. All she could do was play this cool. She gave Angelo
her word that she would close the deal. But if Gerald even thought about
going out of line, there would be hell to pay.
