As soon as Angelo arrived, Sarah knew their dinner date would be canceled.
Angelo had earlier told her of his appointments and it seemed impossible to
break it off especially if he was going to meet a Senator. Sarah understood,
she didn't want to bother Angelo to go to the trouble of going up to her condo.
She met him in the lobby and gave him a kiss for good luck at the meeting.
Angelo was quite nervous, he was sweating when he touched Sarah's arm.
For the rest of the day, Sarah decided to stay home and watched her daughter.
She and Ria watched some children's movies that day. Since her
housekeeper and cook were on their days off, Sarah ordered takeout and
some extra food for later should they get hungry. Sarah decided to put aside
office work for the day to spend time with Ria, although her emergency line
was one in case something happened. Sarah went to Ria's room and found
her humming a song from the movie they watched yesterday while playing
with her dolls. Sarah smiled at her daughter's love for singing her favorite
songs. She had to admit that even if Ria got that from Gerald, she couldn't
begrudge her daughter for it. Sarah went to see if they still had those movies Ria
wanted. After that, she went to the kitchen to bake Ria her favorite chocolate
chip cookies.
Gerald let himself out of his limo in front of Sarah's condominium. He hoped
that the puppy he ordered would arrive soon. He didn't bother to check if
anyone was home and just made his way up to the unit. He rang the doorbell
twice before Sarah opened the door to the condo. Sarah was wearing a loose
shirt and cut-off jeans which she looked incredibly sexy in. The moment they
made contact, time stood still as they gazed into each other's eyes. Sarah
was the first to break contact.
"What a nice surprise." She said sarcastically. Sarah hesitantly opened the
door. "Ria is in her room right now." She added sternly. "It's the second door
down the hall on the left."
"Thanks." Gerald said and went directly to Ria's room. She could hear Ria
excited shout at finding Gerald in their condo. Sarah went back to the kitchen
to check on the cookies. After they were done a few minutes later, she put
together a heaping pile of cookies and poured a glass of cold fresh milk. She
carried it all on a tray and went to Ria's room. As she entered she could hear
Ria's giggles. Gerald was playing puppets with Ria. He stopped for a moment
when he saw Sarah at the door.
Sarah smiled at her daughter as Ria ran up to grab a piece of the cookie. She
set the tray down on Ria's little table and went to leave them to their fun. She
