I knocked on Fin's door and listened as he groaned. I opened the door and closed it silently, quickly climbing into his bed and into his arms.
"Hi." I whispered and he smiled.
"Why are you waking me up. I thought you came home with someone."
"I did." He chuckled slightly, wrapping his arm around me tighter. "So Noah stayed the night?"
"mhm."
"He's weird now right? Psycho analyzing everything." Fin opened an eye and looked down at me, squinting in the sunlight.
"What happened?"
"Like nothing bad but he's trying to get in my head. He was trying to work out why I have one night stands. Said that the way I got rid of the guy so easily this morning, he knows it's not my first one. He said after a few days he'll be able to tell me why I'm not all sunshine and rainbows anymore." Fin started slowly rubbing my back and kissed my forehead.
"Why don't you want him to know?"
"Would you want everyone knowing your past?" I looked up at him and saw he was now watching over me. "Or all your deepest darkest secrets?"
"Definitely not."
"Exactly." I sighed and moved back so my head was on his pillow and I was looking him in the eyes. "He's going to tell you anyway so I might as well beat him to it. I was here for my birthday. He worked it out without me even saying anything." He moved his head back slightly to see me properly before sighing again.
"He's really worrying you isn't he?" I nodded. "Do you want me to speak to him? Get him to back off a little?"
"He's just coming off so strong. Like we all used to be so close with him, but its been 10 years. I can't just jump into a friendship that deep. I can't be how I am with you guys with someone I barely know now."
"He's still how he was as a kid."
"Cocky? Bad influence? Trouble?"
"No." Fin smiled and closed his eyes, lifting his head up and moving it on the pillow so I could see him better. "Funny. You guys used to laugh for hours about stupid stuff. The two of you were closer than any of us ever were with him. He only hung around with us for you and if I remember correctly, you used to get so mad when we'd pick at him."
"You guys were assholes to him though." He laughed and I chuckled. "Full on horrible."
"He's gotten over the lisp now."
"I noticed."
"Have you been talking to him for long?"
"Like 20 minutes?" He nodded and it went quiet. I laid there watching him breathe like I have done dozens of times before with each of the guys. I rotated which one I bugged whilst they were sleeping so they didn't get sick of me. Having 5 boy best friends was great. I'd never once regretted them, not even when I was raging mad at them for something.
They were so protective over me in different ways. They always made sure I had someone if I needed someone. From someone to work out with, or a movie night, studying, if I needed picking up from a one night stand. One of them would always have their phones off Do Not Disturb so if I needed them I could get through to them. It was like having 5 big brothers.
"So what did you do for your birthday."
"I thought we'd moved past that?"
"Oh no. You're never living it down. I'm just still waking up. I'm telling the others too." I rolled my eyes and he smiled. "Don't roll your eyes at me."
"I didn't."
"I could feel it."
"I did not roll my eyes." I smiled and watched as he opened one eye.
"Yes you did."
"Did not."
"Did too."
"Did not."
"Charlie." He lifted his head up and used the arm under him to hold its weight. "Why didn't you tell us?"
"I didn't want to be a nuisance. You guys give up enough for me as it is." He sighed and laid back down, pulling me into his arms again, holding my tight against his bare chest.
"You're never a nuisance Charlotte. We feel worse when you don't bother us. We love you and we love being there for you no matter what. No one else matters to any of us more than you do." He kissed the very top of my head, nuzzling into my hair.
"Gross."
"Don't be like that." He chuckled and moved back so he could see my face. "You love us all just the same. You'd burn the world down for all of us if it meant we were happy right?"
"Well yeah. Of course I would."
"Well there you go." He smiled softly. "We'd do the same for you." He let go of me and sat up, leaving me laid in the bed looking up at him. "Now do you want to wake the guys up or am I?"
My eyes went wide as a huge smile came over my face. I knew exactly what I wanted to do after yesterday.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" He shook his head as he chuckled.
"I'm so glad you crawled into my bed this morning. I do not like revenge seeking Charlie. Not one bit." I jumped out of the bed and grabbed my glass from his bed side table. "Just do Oz last because you know his scream will wake the others up." I nodded and strutted out of his room with my shoulders back.
I wasn't feeling weak anymore. This is why I loved my boys. They were here when I needed them, completely judgement free, with open arms to comfort me.
I slowly pushed open Alfie's door peeking into the pitch black room with a smug little smile on my face. I stood above him, watching him snore, tilting my head and waiting until his next out breath. I didn't want to drown the guy. When he did breath out, I poured the water slowly onto his forehead, making him jump up and out of the bed as I giggled and ran from the room, filling the cup up quickly before moving onto George.
