When Nick got back to the penthouse after church, he took a hot shower, put on some sweats and ordered pizza and wings to be delivered.
Offset was the first to show up.
"Gah damn! Okay big Take! I see how you livin bruh, dis place fly as fuck!" Offset exclaimed while trading a handshake with Nick.
"Thanks bruh, you know, make ya'self at home doe."
"Shit, while you playin', I might needa stay over here for a lil while since my ol lady done kicked my black ass out. She been on a nigga neck since that video leaked." Offset spoke in a sorrowful tone as he reclined on Nick's sofa.
"Mane, don't I know it." Nick sympathized.
The elevator buzzed and in walked Quavo wearing an Atlanta Hawks jersey and holding a bottle of Martell cognac.
"Aw hell nah! Y'all niggas lookin' bout slum as hell up in here, sittin 'round wit tha certains all closed up, dark as fuck. Enough of dis sad ass shit! And why tha game ain't on?!" Quavo ranted.
Nick rolled his eyes at Quavo's theatrics and turned the basketball game on. Quavo snatched down three glasses out of Nick's kitchen cabinet and poured a round of drinks while he began to lay out his plan for the guys.
"You know what you gotta do?" Quavo asked while pointing at Nick with a buffalo wing in his hand. "You gotta show Asia that you serious bruh. You can't jus play Jodeci 'Cry For You' and trick off on dat bitch like how I'ma suggest that Set go and do wit Cardi." He explained.
Offset shot Quavo a deadly look.
"You gotta get inside her mind and heart! Money and bags ain't gone get her back, nah, Asia a different typa female." Quavo said in a serious tone while licking the buffalo sauce from the tips of his fingers.
"Dis here is operation get ya bitch back! And when I say bitch, I do mean dat wit tha utmost respect. Now, y'all niggas can jus call me Coach Huncho!" Quavo boasted as Nick and Offset laughed in hysterics.
"Aight, for real doe, here go tha play. We gotta work from tha inside out and get her friend on ya side first. Get Deja to change her mind 'bout you and she gone start to break Asia down. Then, you gotta show her that you open, I mean, you gone do anything on earth for her and it's no fuckin' problem." Quavo leaned in close to Nick's ear and whispered, "...you might even needa eat dat booty hole out, I'm jus sayin' bruh, she gone love dat." he said with a telling expression on his face. "Finally, you gotta give her somethin' special dat no other nigga can give her." He directed.
"Like what?" Nick asked, twisting his face up at his uncle.
"Now, dat gone be tha part you gotta figure out on ya own my boi, you gotta know her heart." Quavo said, pointing toward Nick, this time with a folded slice of pizza in his hand.
"Look, I'ma work on Deja foe you, but you gotta be ready to go long when I throw you tha pass. Don't fuckin' fumble!" He threatened.
"Yessirrr Coach, let's get it!" Nick agreed.
Quavo acquired the extension number for Deja's department from the directory where she worked as a registered nurse in the cardiovascular unit at Piedmont Hospital.
"Good mornin', this is Quavious Marshall callin' for nurse Deja Howard." He spoke in his most professional tone. Deja let out a deep sigh after picking up the phone.
"Oh my God. Whatever it is, the answer is no." She said quickly.
"I didn't ask anything yet." Quavo replied sweetly.
"You don't even have to. Let me guess, you want me to get in touch with Asia for you? Well, she's not even answering my calls nowadays, so whatever your little plan is, give it up." she said sharply.
"Actually, I was hoping to get like 10 minutes of your time so we can talk. When's your lunch break?" He asked politely.
Deja was thrown off.
"Like, today?" she questioned.
"Yeah, we can talk over lunch, on me." Quavo offered.
"Well, I guess. My break is at 2." she said.
"Cool, I'm outside ya building."
"Uhhh, What kind of stalker type of business do you have going on?" She asked wearily.
Quavo laughed.
"I ain't stalkin' you sweetheart, I jus needa lil of ya time 'bout an urgent matter." he replied.
"Yeah right, stranger danger. I'll be down at 2." She agreed reluctantly. Deja was already annoyed before she even heard what Quavo had to say. She got into the passenger side of his black Maserati and stared at him coldly.
"So, what's going on?" She asked with as much attitude as she could gather. Quavo smiled at the fact that she was working so hard to play tough with him.
"Can you honestly say that you love Asia?" He interrogated.
"Of course I do. She's been my best friend since freshman year of college." Deja said confidently.
"Ok, so you love her tha way I love my nephew then. I'd assume that you love her enough to want to see her happy? Dat right?" Quavo continued to interview Deja.
"Um, if by happy you mean being lied to and fucked over by your nephew, then no! I haven't seen her this sad since her mom died." Deja admitted.
"I see..." Quavo said with a serious look on his face.
"A loss is a loss. I'm not sure if you even realize how much she genuinely loved him." She argued.
"That's what I wanted to ask you Deja. Can you find out if Asia is still in love with Take? She not answering any of his calls, and I'm jus tryna help. I wanna see them both happy." He explained. Deja laughed loudly.
"Boy please, if Nick wanted Asia to be happy, he wouldn't have been on his bullshit. He is not a victim here." She said rolling her eyes.
"I can second dat, but if there's even a small chance that they still love each other then I don't see why they should be apart. If Asia don't love him then she'd be happy right now. Is she happy without him?" He questioned.
Deja went quiet.
"Well, is she"? Quavo pressed.
"No, I mean, she's not happy without him, but look at the circumstances." Deja continued to argue.
"Aight Deja, look, I jus wanna see tha light come back to my nephew's eyes. If Asia is that light then I'll do what I gotta do to help. You down foe tha cause or what?" Quavo asked.
"The only cause I'm down for is protecting my sis from fuckery, which is what you seem to be on right now." she sassed.
Deja reached for the door handle.
"Wait, so you really ain't gone let a nigga take you to lunch?" He asked sweetly.
Deja hesitated, "I packed my lunch today. Thanks for the offer though." she said as she exited the sports car. Quavo sat in the parking lot smiling to himself as he watched her walk away in his rearview mirror. Deja was sassy, smart, and fiercely loyal. He knew this wasn't going to be an easy win, but he welcomed the challenge.Asia was in the throws of cleaning and reorganizing her kitchen when the doorbell rang unexpectedly. She groaned with annoyance at the thought of having company. When she opened the door, it was Deja dressed in pajamas holding two bottles of wine and a bag of snacks.
"I heard a bitch that lives at this address is out here closing 100 million dollar deals!" She yelled loud enough that Asia's neighbors could probably hear her.
"Girl, get in here!" Asia laughed.
"Uh, no Ma'am. I'ma need you to stop whatever kinda domestic work you have going on and turn off this soggy ass jazz music. I brought all of your favorite snacks and your favorite movie too!" Deja said, holding up a DVD of the movie Bridesmaids.
"Let's have a sleepover party!" She squealed. "It's Labor Day tomorrow, so I know you ain't going to work." She added.
Asia could never resist having a good time with her best friend, so she agreed to Deja's overnight stay.
"Thanks Dej, I really needed this." Asia said as she leaned in to give her a hug.
Deja sang off key, "youuu-ou neeee-eee needed me!" in her best Rihanna voice as they both ran upstairs to the bedroom. Asia quickly changed into her pajamas and they jumped into the bed like two school girls, excited to stay up and giggle all night. They laughed harder than they had in years while eating popcorn, Reese's pieces, and spraying whipped cream into each other's mouth.
"Asia, seriously though, how are you feeling about Nick?" Deja asked after the movie ended.
Asia took a deep sigh, "Dej, I'm not gonna lie, I'm in love with him...still. Like a fucking fool I'm in love with my best friend, who just so happens to be a world famous rapper who can't seem to resist his ex girlfriend slash groupie. Insane right?" Asia questioned.
"It's not insane. I mean, you can't help the way you feel. Do you think you can ever forgive him though?" Deja asked with a look of concern.
"Forgiveness is one thing, but trust is another. I'd be dumb to trust Nick to even kiss my ass at this point." Asia said sadly with tears in her eyes.
"I feel you." Deja sympathized as she hugged Asia around her shoulders.A few days went by before Deja called Quavo back. "My girl is still in love with that nigga. In love, but hurt. She feels like he's not who she thought he was and she can't trust his ass, understandably." Deja relayed to him.
"Ok, so since you down, how bout we hash out a plan for 'em over dinner?" Quavo asked.
"Boy bye! Ain't nobody say I was down! I'm just telling you what's up, that's all." Deja said sharply.
"Aight, so I'ma pick you up dis Saturday at 7. Send me ya addy." Quavo replied confidently.
"What?" Deja asked abrasively.
"I said, send me ya addy. See you Saturday." Quavo hung up and smiled to himself at how skilled he was at getting his own way.
He could already feel the victory as he envisioned his coach of the year trophy on display.
