On Monday morning Asia got dressed for work and even though it was the middle of August, she threw a scarf around her neck to cover the bruises she sustained from the attack a few nights before. She walked into the building and headed straight for her private office, barely stopping to say good morning to any of her staff.
"Good morning Miss Logan, you have a message from Mr. Lakes, he wants to-" Tamela began.
"Absolutely not! If he calls here again, tell him I'm not available." Asia scolded, cutting off her receptionist before she could fully explain.
Everything inside of her just wanted to be rid of anything and anybody that had something to do with what happened to her at the charity event, and that included Tyler Perry. She picked up the phone and quickly dialed Mr. Perry's office.
"Good morning Miss Logan." he answered. "I'm glad you called. My assistant needs your address so we can deliver the art piece you purchased. You know, I really appreciate you supporting my foundation." He said cheerfully.
"Yes, thank you for having me Mr. Perry. I just wanted to...I'm so sorry, but I don't think my agency will be able to complete the estate sell for you. I just have a lot of things to sort out right now, and I can't continue with the sale. Again, I'm sorry."
"Wait, Asia did something happen? I don't understand." He pleaded.
"I can connect you with some wonderful agents that can help you, but I just can't. I'm sorry." She said before hanging up the phone, cutting off Mr. Perry from getting out another word. She sat at her desk with tears in her eyes feeling both defeated and emancipated all at once.Quavo pulled up to the studio on Monday afternoon. Nick was in the zone, smoking a blunt and editing a few verses on a song when Quavo stormed through the door, breaking Nick's concentration.
"You ain't gone believe dis shit Take!" Quavo complained. Nick stopped the track from playing and swiveled his chair around to see what his uncle was carrying on about.
"So, I linked wit Deja last night to see if she was down to help you get back in good wit Asia and dat bitch done pulled a Uno reverse card on my black ass!" He sulked. "Jus when I was 'bout to get in her ear 'bout what to say to Asia, she pull out a got damn 12 page single spaced college essay worth of got damn demands!" He plopped himself down into the chair next to Nick and handed him the paper. Nick quietly smiled to himself as he read through the list.
"Aight." He said calmly, seemingly unruffled by the requests.
"Aight?" Quavo asked. "Take, I know you not really thinkin' bout doing tha shit on dat list, is you?
"It ain't even that bad, plus she worth it Unc. I ain't trippin." Nick took the paper and stuck it in his back pocket.
"Nah nigga, you musta added some crack in wit dat weed, cause ain't no fuckin' way!" Quavo argued.
"We got a session wit Khaled in Miami in a few days. Tell the girls to come. I can take it from there, good lookin' out Unc." Nick said.
He gave Quavo a handshake and went back to working quietly.Later that day, Deja got a text from Quavo about the travel plans for Miami. She immediately called Asia to see if she could convince her to come.
"I don't know girl, it's really last minute. Plus, I have a lot of work to do at the agency. Since I let the big estate sale go, I need to find some new clients, I'm trying to keep everything afloat." Asia said wearily.
"And that's all the more reason to take a quick break. Sis, you've been working non stop for over a year and things have been really hard for you these last couple of months. Trust me, take a little time to rest and regroup and you'll come back better than ever. Plus, if I could finesse a few days off from the hospital, then I know your ass can leave because you're the boss" Deja laughed.
"I don't know, you might be right." Asia agreed.
"You know I'm right. Now, pack a little bag and be ready by Wednesday!" She snapped.
"Oh my God, Ok. Bye girl." Asia said.
