"Hurry Nick, we're going to be late!" Asia whined from the threshold of the doorway of their master bedroom with her hands on her hips as she watched her husband toss his last few pieces of clothing, shoes, and hats into his suitcase. He tied his locs back into a low hanging ponytail, and grabbed his sunglasses and wallet before rushing out the door behind his wife and jumping into the waiting car that would chauffeur them to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. The newlyweds checked in their bags and stood impatiently in the many hectic security checkpoints to make it to their gate where they would be departing from Atlanta to Bali, Indonesia.
"Aight, you got ya lil playlist downloaded? Ya books? And make sure you go on and put them compression socks on 'fore we get on dis plane too. You know Dr. Robinson said you gotta get up and walk 'bout every 2 hours." Nick lectured. Asia giggled at the transformation of her husband and his newfound need to overprotect her and the unborn babies.
"Kirsnick, I have all of my stuff. I'll be just fine." She smiled gently.
"Aye, dis a long ass flight, you know I'ma take care of you doe." He pledged as he pulled his wife into his arms and smiled back at her. The couple slept, ate, talked, and walked the aisles of the 757 jet plane during their 23 hour flight to Indonesia. They landed at the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali at 8:30am central Indonesia time. The jet lagged newlyweds made their way to baggage claim, collected their luggage and headed to the taxi lane to meet up with Mr. Ketut, a Balinese architect and the owner of a one of a kind 1956 Ivory Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing with custom Scottish Tartan wool interior in which Nick pulled a hefty amount of strings in order to rent the vehicle for their week long stay in Bali.
"Halo selamat datang." Mr. Ketut greeted them with a big smile and a gentle bow before handing Nick the keys to the Gullwing. Nick nodded his head and gave thanks to the owner for his hospitality before transferring their Goyard bags into the tiny trunk of the vintage coupe.
"Have very safe drive up hill, ok? Road turn very narrow on the bridge." Mr. Ketut warned before the couple pulled off.
"Aight, good lookin' out." Nick smiled and waved.
"Baby, I always wanted to drive one of these right here! You know how rare dis car is? Only got a hand full of 'em round the world. A nigga out here feelin' like James Bond out dis mutha fucka!" He laughed excitedly with a glow in his eyes as he started up the engine, gripped the steering wheel and headed out on the 30 minute drive along the Bali coast where their private bungalow awaited them.
"Oh my Gosh, Nick!" Asia yelled as he gripped the curb of the road while they flew along the coastline. Asia's hair whipped in the wind that blew through the open windows of the car as she hung on for dear life.
"I gotcha baby, relax!" He smiled joyfully as he continue to enjoy the thrill of the drive.Nick slowed down as he drove up the narrow one lane road that led to their private oasis. The couple was in awe of the tranquility that surrounded them, and the view of the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean rendered them speechless. They got out of the vintage car and entered into paradise. The villa was made completely of bamboo slats that ran from the floors to the walls and arched their way up to the ceiling, creating beautiful geometric patterns. In the center of the space, woven mats created steps that lead to a king sized circular bed that featured a sweeping mosquito net that fell over the bed like wings from the ceiling. Beside the bed, there was an indoor jacuzzi tub made from river rocks that was surrounded by candles and seashells. Asia took off her Hermès sandal and dipped her foot into the water of the tub.
"Oooh, it's so warm. The water is perfect." She smiled at Nick. He grabbed hold of her hand as they continued to tour the vacation home. They walked on to find a dinning cove with circular seating and linens that draped from above, along with a bathroom that featured a stone rainforest shower and his and hers hand blown glass vessel sinks. Nick and Asia ventured to the rear of the villa to find a private lap pool with a floating tray of Balinese fruits, smoothies, sticky rice, and an array of spiced meats and sauces.
"Aw, thank God, I was so hungry! This is beautiful babe!" Asia exclaimed as she reached out for the platter of food and brought it closer to the edge of the pool.
"Dis right here seem like a dream. Like we in our own lil promised land, I can digg it." Nick said as he looked over and gave his wife a sleepy smile while she went elbow deep into the Balinese cuisine. He laid across one of the lounge chairs by the pool, slid his Supreme headband down over his eyes and drifted off into a light sleep while Asia finished eating and looked out over the bamboo railing of the balcony that overlooked the ocean. The warm sea breeze blew through her hair and caressed her skin while she admired the view. Asia gently touched her tiny baby bump and smiled. Suddenly, she felt what seemed like a little tremor of gas.
"Ew, I ate that food too fast." She said out loud to herself, still rubbing her stomach. Moments later, she felt the tremor again, but in two separate places.
"Oh my God...." She whispered.
"Nick! I think I can feel the babies right now!" She then screamed excitedly. Nick stumbled to his feet, flinging the headband away from his eyes and into the pool water.
"Asia, you done scared the shit outta me! What goin' on?" He asked, startled by his wife's scream and still half asleep from his mid-morning nap.
"Nick, come quick! I think the babies are moving, I could feel them!" She beamed.
He ran over to her as she picked up a slice of mango that was left on her plate. She took a big bite of the sweet sticky fruit as Nick stood in front of her with both his hands clasping her belly. They waited silently for a few minutes until the little flutter of movement happened again.
"Aye! I felt dat..." he said with tears welling in his eyes. "God good, ain't He?" He asked. Asia leaned into his arms and shook her head in agreement while laying on his chest.
