Among all of the new clients that Asia acquired in the new year, her favorite by far was her fiancé Nick.
"Oh my gosh babe, I'm so excited to show you this place! I think it's going to be perfect for your studio." She said as her and Nick walked hand in hand into the historic two story brick front building in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of midtown Atlanta.
"So, this property was built in 1942. It used to be a fire station, hence the garage doors out front, but just look at all of this space! The ceilings are 40 feet high, there are 4 bedrooms in the back that can be converted into miniature studios if you want to rent them out, also there's a full kitchen located at the back of the space as well, perfect for entertaining if you want to have label sponsored events here." She detailed.
Nick stood in the center of the old former fire house with a big smile on his face. He could envision his dream studio coming to life in the midst of the crumbled concrete floors and dilapidated wood beams.
"It needs a lot of TLC, I know, but it has plenty of potential." Asia bargained. "Plus, we're right down the street from Ponce City Market, which is thriving, so this would be a great commercial location. Let me show you the second level!" She toured. They walked up a flight of black metal stairs to the balcony level of the building which boasted a large open loft space that overlooked the entire first floor.
"We could have soundproof glass installed on this wall, and you could use the loft as your personal studio, there's plenty of room!" Asia said excitedly.
"Aye, this is prefect baby. You can sell salt to a fuckin' slug, you know dat?" He laughed.
Asia smiled at him confidently.
"This property currently belongs to the city. But, I can try and work out a grant deal for you as long you would be willing to restore it according to the codes and standards set by the department of historical preservation." She proposed.
"Aight. Hell yeah! Let me know what you can work out foe a nigga." He smiled happily.
"Of course I will babe. Hey, I'm going to have to leave you here, I need to make it back out to Buckhead to meet Vince and Deja at the jewelry shop. Any hints on what style of wedding band you would like?" Asia smiled sweetly, looking up at Nick. He lifted her left hand which sported all three of her emerald engagement rings, and kissed her wrist.
"As long as I'm matchin' ya swag, I'm gucci. We gotta fit the same drip." He said with a flirty lazy smile.
"I gotcha." Asia giggled. "Alright, just hit *1 on the padlock after you leave. Love you babe." Asia spoke in haste as she turned to leave.
"Aye, listen. I'on need you rippin' and got damn runnin' all around Asia. You gotta take a rest. When's the doctors appointment?" Nick asked, stopping her at the door.
"It's on Friday." She smiled. "I'll slow down, I promise. But, just not right now. I have to go or I'll be late." She quickly kissed Nick on the lips and hurried out the front door of the building, leaving Nick to stand there shaking his head over her stubbornness.Asia hustled through the French glass doors of Solomon Brothers Jewelers where Deja and Vince waited for her in the lobby.
"Hey booski! How you feeling?" Deja asked as she gave her friend a snug little hug.
"I'm ok, much better today." She smiled.
"Hey girl heyyy!" Vince exclaimed, giving Asia an air kiss on each cheek.
"So, for the wedding band, what are we thinking? What vibe are we going for?" Vince questioned.
"Well, Nick did say that he wants his ring to match mine. I need a ring that's fit for a king." Asia glowed as she spoke about her fiancé.
"Aw, ok. So, maybe an emerald piece like yours? Let's see." Vince said. The three friends strolled up and down the isles of the luxury jewelry store, keeping their eyes peeled for the perfect ring.
"Oh! How about this one guys?!" Deja called out from a few feet away. Asia and Vince hurried over to see what had caught her eye. They all stood over the glass countertop in awe of the beautiful 18 karat gold band with twelve large cushion cut emeralds that were trimmed in white diamond links that encircled the entire ring.
"It's perfect." Asia said softly.
"Regal and classy. Good eyes Deja." Vince complimented. They made the sales associate aware that they were ready to purchase. Asia stood at the register with her Black Card in hand, prepared to pay for the wedding band when a wonderful idea came to mind.
"Mr. Soloman, do you build custom watches?" Asia asked.
"Yes Ma'am, we partner with Jacob & Co for all of our custom designs." The jeweler explained.
"Do you have a pen and paper I can draw on?" Asia requested.
"Sure, yes Ma'am." He offered.
Asia sketched out a watch design on the paper that showcased the solar system with various colored gemstones as planets that would orbit around the sun turning on various dials.
"I want the floor of the watch in white diamonds, the trim in yellow gold, and the band in navy crocodile leather. Also, I need it engraved with the initials KKB." Asia requested.
"Wow! Yes Ma'am, I will send this sketch to the designers and see what they can come up with for you." Mr. Solomon said.
"Thank you, and please, can you send it right away? I need it made before Valentine's day." She asked.
"Of course Ma'am." The jeweler promised.
