Wyatt's POV
I'm home now. Hearing Luna tell me about her mom has given me the courage to ask about mine. I never wanted to bring it up to my dad because he always seemed so sad with the subject. He loves telling stories, even the most awkward ones, but he could never bring himself to tell her story. "Dad! I'm back!" I yelled. "Hey Wyatt, how was the ball?" he asks. He's on the couch, in the dark, reading over the newspaper. I don't know why he does that when he wrote it. "I left early" I say. He looked at his watch. "Oh, why'd you do that? You usually have fun at those" he says. I took a deep breath. "Dad, what happened to my mom?" I ask. He stared at he shocked. "Why are you asking me that?" he asks. "Because i want to know" I say firmly. He slowly put the newspaper down. "Sit down" he says. I sat across from him. He sighed. "When I was younger, I was... very stupid to say the least. I would go to the next town over since their bigger and I would go crazy. I went to bars and clubs. I got drunk and had way to many hookups. There was one night when I was out, I went to the bar and this crazy hot girl walked up beside me and ordered shots. When they came out, she handed me the glass and started flirting with me. She was your mother. We got drunk together and we went back to her place... and..." he stopped. "And you got her pregnant" I said. he looked down. "You weren't planned Wyatt. You weren't even a product of love. You were the product of lust. I'm sorry." He says. I stared at him in shock and disgust. I stood up and stared down at him. "Wyatt-" I cut him off. "Don't talk to me" I say. I went to my room. I wanted to know about my mom but he doesn't even know anything about her.Patch's POV
I walked outside. I know he wont forgive me for this. Theres only one way for me to make him feel better. I walked to the town parking garage. I walked up to my car. The same car I drove Wyatt home in after his mother told me to take him. The same car I drove his mother in when we went to her place that night. I hate this cara nd the memories it holds. I drove to the fire house. I knocked on the door. Marshall opened it. "Hey bro. I just got back. What are you doing here? Oh damn! You broke out the BMW?" He says looking behind me. He turned to my face. "Is something wrong?" He asks. "Im going out of town. I need you to watch Wyatt" I say. "Woah hold on, what happened?" He asks. "I told him" I say. His eyes widened and he hugged me. "Im gonna go find his mother. He wants to meet her and I owe him" I say. "You cant just go snooping around every town looking for that girl" he says. "I dont have a choice. I trust that youll keep Wyatt safe" I say. "I will. Be careful Patch" he says. I nod.Zoes POV
"Zoe, what was that at the ball. Why would you dance like that with Skylar. People are going to suspect things!" Mom says. We just got home. My dad immediately started looking through his papers. All he does is work. "Why is that such a bad thing? What if that rumor is true?" I ask. "It isnt!" She yells. "It is! Im gay mom" I say. She just stared at me for a moment and then walked away. Thats definitely not what I was expecting.I went to my dads office. I creaked the door open a little. "Papa?" I ask. He kept mumbling to himself about whatever work. "Papa?" I repeated. "Huh? Oh, Im busy right now Zoe" he says. "I know but this is important" I say coming in and shutting the door. "Ok ok. Come here" he says. I sat across from him. "Papa... I know mom wants me to be perfect for you. She wants me to be just like Stan so that people will think we're a happy family and then youll get elected mayor in the next election. Thing is... Im not perfect. Not even close, and now I think mom hates me for it because... Im gay papa" I say. He looked at me for a moment, stood up, walked around his desk, and then sat next to me. He took my hands. "Zoe, I dont care who you love. I just want you to be happy. Lydias idea of perfect doesn't exist. Being perfect is doing what makes you happy, and not lying to yourself to make others happy. You've always been perfect to me Zoe" he says. I hugged him as the tears ran down my face. "You're actually lucky. You're strong enough to be yourself. I wish I had the strength to do that. To tell you the truth, I dont want to be mayor" he says. My body shot back and I stared at him shocked. "When Lydia found out I was the mayors brother and lost to him in the election once, she went insane. She suddenly wanted me to be the mayor and said that if we were the perfect then maybe Id win the next election" he says. "Why didnt you tell her no?" I ask. "I did but she guiltripped me. You were just an infant when Lydia met my brother. She said that if I was mayor then you would have the best life. She said she wanted me to do it for you, but by the time I realized she was lying, I was too deep in the hole to stop" he says. "Why did you run for mayor the first time?" I ask. "I was 22, my brother and I were just having a healty competition." He says. "You can fight off mom. I believe in you papa" I say. He smiled.
Skylars POV
I came home and went to my moms room. "Mom?" I ask. She slowly sat up. "Skylar, what are you doing awake so late?" She asks with a yawn. "I was at the charity ball and theres something I really need to tell you" I say. She waved me over and I sat on her bed. I took a deep breath. "Im gay mom" I say. She blinked at me and rubbed her eye. "I know" she says. "You do?" I ask. "Im your mom. I may not be around very often but when I am, I pay attention" she says. I hugged her. "I love you mom" I say. "I love you too Skylar" she says. "Im afraid to tell my siblings" I say. She laughed. "Why?" She asks. "Because they cornered me the other day thinking I was gay and I played it off cause I got scared" I say. "Skylar, I raised you better than that. Dont be afraid of them. And definitely dont think that you're the only one" she says. "What?!" I say. "I have six kids, you really think you're the only one thats gay?" She asks. I smiled. "Ill help you tell them tomorrow ok?" She says. "You're staying home tomorrow?" I ask happily. She nods. "Yes!" I cheered. Its the next morning. We're all in the living room talking. "So Skylar, is there something you want to tell your siblings?" Mom asks. I froze. "Uh, yeah" I say. They all looked over. "So, you were right. Im gay and Zoe is my girlfriend" I say. "Oh damn, I didnt know that part" Mom says. "I told you! I have awesome gay-dar" Phoenix says. "I wonder why" Mom says. "What?" Phoenix says. Mom raised an eyebrow. "Im only bi!" Phoenix says. "Anyone else?" Jasmine asks. We looked at each other and then at her. "Great. Still dont care. I just wanted to know" she says. "Really?" I ask. "Yeah i dont care" she says. "I think thats awesome! Lesbians are so cool!" Dominic says. "And you're so weird" I say. "Do you have a boyfriend?" Reo asks Phoenix. "No, but I haven't had a girl crush since 3rd grade" Phoenix says. "I still think this is weird" Kamila says. "Why?" I ask. "Its just... not normal" Kamila says. "Come on Kamila, you shouldn't be ashamed of them when you were made by a gay couple" mom says. "What?!" We all turned to her. "Yeah, you guys dont have a father. You have another mother though" she says. "How?" Dominic asks. "Shes intersex. She has a penis. When we broke up, she felt so guilty leaving you all. We made a promise that if one of you ever asked about where you came from, Id take you to her. Im surprised none of you ever asked" she says. "We asked you about our father all the time" i say. "Yeah, but not where you came from. I told you, you dont have a father and that wasnt a lie" she says. "I guess its not that weird" Kamila says. "So can we meet her?" Dominic asks. "Ill call her" mom says. "What about Shane?" Jasmine asks. "I didnt say Id call her for a hookup. Shanes my boyfriend and Im not dumping him for my ex" she says. "That wouldn't be such a bad thing. Shanes an idiot" Reo says. "Reo" mom growls. "Whatever" he says. I giggled.
