Karis POV
"Are you sure about this?" Ace asks. "Yes. I want you to meet Aiden. Id rather not wait until he's let out. Dont you wanna meet the guy that saved me?" I ask. "Of course but Im nervous" she says. "Why? Youve already met my parents. Is it because he's a kingsmen? I thought you were better than that" I say dramatically. "What?! No!" She says. I laughed. "Im kidding babe. Come on. He's waiting" I say.Aidens face lit up seeing me. I guess Im really the only person he talks to now. Ace and I sat down. "Hi Aiden. This is Ace, my girlfriend" I say. "Nice to meet you" he says. "Yeah, you too. Thank you for saving her" Ace says looking at me. "I should thank you for not judging her by her last name" he says. "I cant judge it if I plan to change it" She says. I dropped the phone and snapped my head at Ace, my jaw is on the floor. Aiden laughed. "I like her. You chose wisely Kari" Aiden says. Ace smiled at me. "You're crazy. Both of you" I say picking the phone back up. Ace and Aiden both shrugged. "Im starting to regret letting you meet each other" I say. Ace giggled. "It was your idea" she says. "And to think you were nervous" I say. "Ha! You were nervous? Why? I cant do anything behind this glass" Aiden says. "I dont know! My heart was just racing. Its the whole 'meeting the family' thing" Ace says. "Especially when the familu name is Kingsman" Aiden says. "I know, thats what I said" I say. "You know thats not the reason!" Ace says. Aiden and I laughed. "Its good to see that Im not the only gay cousin. Thats one of the reasons why my dad didnt like me very much" Aiden says. "Was my uncle that much of a dick?" I ask. "Yeah. He was worse. Thats not even half of it" he says. "At least now your family cares about you" Ace says. "Yeah, its quite the upgrade. I have to admit, seeing you be happy to see me is really weird. I definitely prefer it to a few months ago when you were practically spitting acid at me" Aiden says. "I was mad. What do you want?" I say. "I love your family. Spade and I are adopted so I dont really connect much to my family. Seeing your real connection is fascinating" Ace says. "I didnt know you were adopted" I say. "I didnt find it important. Besides, I was adopted as a baby. Jane practically is my real mom" Ace says. "Are you and Spade actual siblings?" Aiden asks. "Yeah. Im not sure how, because that dude is crazy, but yes" Ace says. "Oh, Ive been meaning to ask, is Bella ok?" Aiden asks. "Yes, shes doing fine" I say. "That girl got back to being herself in no time at all" Ace says. "Yeah. Shes still a little skittish but otherwise, she seems pretty normal" I say. "Good. I was worried about her psychological state" he says. "Thats a big word" Ace says. I laughed a little. "Something like that can be traumatizing. The first time I saw my dad torturing someone, I had nightmares for weeks" he says. "As far as we know, shes fine. Im sure Spade might know more" I say. "Times up" the guard says. "Bye Aiden" I say. "Bye" he says.
Bellas POV
I need to do this now. Im afraid I never will. Im standing outside the door to the meeting area. I signed up to see my dads. Since Im seeing them both, it wont be behind glass. Ill be sitting across from them at a table. "Ms. Wolf?" A guard says. I looked at him. "Your table is ready" he says. He says like its some restaurant. The only thing Ill be eating is their words. I have no intent on forgiving them today. I just need to see them. To know that they're ok. I walked in and sat down in the center of the bench. I clasped my hands together on the table. My dads were brought in. They sat across from me. I kept a glare on my face. "Bella, you came" Ash says. "Thank god you're ok" Alec says. "Bella we're so sorry. We should have told you sooner." Ash says. "Are you ok? I mean, physically and mentally?" Alec asks. I didnt speak. I just glared at them and waited for them to stop talking. When they stopped, they finally took notice to my stance. They looked at each other and then me. They look ashamed and Im glad. They deserve to be ashamed. If they werent then Id guilt trip them until they were ashamed. There was a moment of silence. I sat up straight and stopped glaring. Theres no emotion on my face. "Orange suits you. Good thing youll be wearing it for awhile" I say. They were taken back. "You can stop your apologies. It wont do you any good here." I say. "Bella, we made a mistake-" i cut them off by laughing maniacally. They look afraid and concerned. "A mistake? A mistake isnt intentional. You did this out of your own free will. That is why I will never forgive you for what youve done. So now I only have one question for you. Why? Why did you do it?" I ask. Ash looked down and Alec sighed. "Aidens father, Marcus, was the original leader of the kingsmen. We knew him because he worked for the mayor like we did. We were friends. One day we came across what he was doing and he trusted us enough to ask us to join. We knew that if we said no, he would go after us. You had just been born and we didnt want you to live without your dads. So in a way, we didnt have a choice" Alec says. "Am I supposed to feel sorry for you?" I snap. "No. I understand that you're mad. I just hope that one day you can understand why we did this. For you" he says. "I understand... that you're insane. That man died a long time ago. You could have left but you stayed." I say. "Bella... I know you're mad... but just please tell me that you're ok. That you're safe. So I can at least sleep at night" Ash says. He does look miserable. "Im fine. Im staying with Spade. He didnt want me to be here today, but I told him it was necessary. Just so I could hear your sorry excuses. His mom is nice to me. She practically worships me. His sister is basically my new best friend, other than Kari because turns out, shes actually really cool. Other than my bruises and scars, yeah Im fine. Other than my night terrors and the fact that I jump when a door closes, yeah Im fine. Other than the fact that my own dads betrayed my trust, yeah Im doing great." I said. They looked down. I stood up and the looked at me without moving their heads. "Just to be petty, heres a little tidbit for your nightmares..." i started. I walked to the door and stopped before I left. I turned to them. "They whipped me with chains" I say and leave, but not before I saw the horror flash on their faces.I have one more person to meet, but this time, he's behind the glass. I sat down and he was already there. I picked up the phone. "Bella? I didnt expect you" Aiden says. "I heard you were worried about me" I say. "Yeah. I know Stephan and Diane can be... harsh to say the least" he says. "Yeah, but Im ok. I mean... Im not ok but... Im ok" I say. He smiled weakly. "Anyway, I wanted to thank you in person for what you did" I say. "Well you're welcome. It was the right thing to do and I kinda owed your dads. The whole reason they stayed after my father died was to protect me" he says. DAMMIT! Of course they left out that part! Now I feel a little bad for giving them nightmares about the chains. Just a little though. "I didnt know that... but um. I actually was saying thank you a different way" I say. "What do you mean?" He asks. "I paid for your bail" I say. "What?!" He says. "Calm down" I laughed. "Im practically rich now that I have all my dads money. I could buy this whole place if I wanted to. Anyway, Kari will be here to pick you up later. I cant do enough to repay what youve done for me Aiden. Im forever in your debt and I will help you with anything I possibly can once you're out" I say. "Thank you Bella. You're a good friend" he says. "I know, Im awesome" I say winking at him. He chuckled. "Ill see you later" I say. "Yeah, see ya" he says. I hung up the phone and smiled at him before I left.
Aidens POV
I got my old clothes back and whatever junk was in my pockets when I was arrested. I walked outside. Its night time. I took a deep breath. Im free. From everything. From prison and from the world my father trapped me in. I smiled at Kari as I walked to her. "Hey cous" she says hugging me. "Hey" I say hugging back. "You ready to go home? Everyones waiting for you" she says. "Yeah. Im ready" I say. Home. Its such a weird concept. It used to mean a hole in the side of a mountain but now its a house where the people I actually care about live. For once in my life, Im happy to be going home.
