I made it to the hospital about 20 minutes after Scarlett arrived. For context, yes, the traffic would part to let the ambulance through, but I wasn't able to cut through with it. And I also took a detour on the way. I took a quick stop to pick up Brodie, who was staying in a hotel nearby.

He lives in the US, instead of the UK. Despite being born and raised in the UK, he wanted a fresh start in another country. Fair enough to him though, I'd do the same if I had trauma in my hometown.

Once we finally arrived at the hospital, Brodie and I headed straight up to where Scarlett was being taken care of (after telling the front desk we were there). Brodie hadn't actually seen Scarlett's condition yet, but I just couldn't get it out of my head. The tears stained down her face, the blood dripping from her mouth, and the burns and scratches littering her body. If you didn't know they were alive, you'd assume her as dead.

As we opened the door, we weren't sure what to expect. But whatever I was thinking at the time, it definitely wasn't what I saw.

The nurses and doctors had pulled Scarlett's extra clothes off (while keeping her decent) and had tubes going into her from tons of fluid bags, I think they're called. I tried to guess a few of them, but the only two I could pinpoint were a feeding tube, and a tube giving her blood.

Giving her life.

I had kneeled by Scarlett's side as soon as I'd seen her, crying into their cold palms. I knew she wasn't dead, but she felt it. I was starting to understand how Scarlett had felt for me. It hurt, especially since we'd known eachother since we were in secondary school. Since we were carefree, and partially stable, despite Scarlett being in a shit place mentally.

That was actually how we met. Scarlett and I joined a mental health club together, me as a volunteer to help the mental health patients, and Scarlett as a patient. We were assigned to eachother, and have been almost inseparable since.

I had delighted in hearing Scarlett's stories on Wattpad (*cough cough*), and she had loved hearing my stories of lavish holidays (that I hadn't been on), and had both loved sharing gossip about our school. We were both twelve when we met, what do you expect?

I had loved going to Scarlett's birthdays, as even though they were shared with Brodie, they were still fucking incredible.

I remember on Scarlett's 18th birthday celebrations, (which also celebrated Brodie's 16th birthday, completely by their choice), Scarlett and Lily got drunk for the first time. Alex was also at this party by the way. This was long before ANY of the drama, so we were all on good terms.

Pretty much what started what happened, because Scarlett and Lily couldn't walk straight, I watched Scarlett spill an entire glass of wine down Alex's back. He (also being drunk) decided to push Scarlett in the little kids' paddling pool, to which Scarlett emptied, and had filled with coke. But which kind, I'll leave for you to decide.

(Spoiler alert, it was the drugs)
