AN IMMEDIAATE PART 2????? You best believe it! I deadass fully expect this chapter to take me actual hours. The last one took 3. The last one was only covering one moon. This one covers THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF OF THE GAME. Or as much of it as I can muster into one chapter. Even this preamble section is taking minutes OKAY LET'S JUST JUMP INTO IT

This chapter basically took me about... 8 hours to write? Give or take some time due to distractions that were entirely on me whoops.

Anyways, be warned. This chapter is VERY DARK. Read at your own discretion, please. I will not fault you for skipping this miniseries.

[Same warnings as last chapter. This is very dark, maybe worse than the last one.]

It had been five years.

The Professor was presumed dead. No one had found them even though countless search parties have been sent to find them. None prevailed. Each reported failure to find them only fueled the fire to push the search parties to their limits.

All of Fodlan had been scoured for any trace of their beloved Professor. They were never found.

Lady Rhea and the remnants of the Church of Seiros were being harboured in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, now under the rule of King Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. No major moved from either the Kingdom or the Empire had been made. There were casualties, of course, yet neither side had attacked the Capital of either location yet. It was almost as though they had come to a silent stalemate for the time being. Waiting, hoping for a sign the tides of war would turn in their favor...

The Alliance had remained a starkly neutral front. It was just that, a front. Anyone who conversed with the Duke, Claude, would know he is highly opposed to the idea of the war in the first place. He was never the biggest fan of the Church of Seiros having an iron reign over the entirety of Fodlan. War was not the solution.

Edelgard had come into her own as Emperor. She was stoic and strong in her values. The Adrestia she had created was one of military strength. The Empire was nearly unstoppable. Fort Merceus had been recently doubly fortified and the Death Knight, Jeritza, was assigned to keep watch over it. As a formidable general and reliable ally, his positioning there made sense.

You and Hubert remained by her side. You acted as pillars of strength and reminders that she is doing what is right. Hubert was her sensibility, her self control, her rationality. You were her emotional support, her beacon of hope, her shoulder to cry on.

The three of you never truly defined your relationship. You knew there was something romantic and sexual between the three of you but there wasn't really a label to what you had. There wasn't time to discuss what was happening in that regard. You only knew you loved each other and would spend long nights together to destress.

The war had hardened you. Blood and flesh didn't make you squeamish anymore. The screams of the dying no longer followed you into your nightmares. The faces of the dead don't reflect in the water you pass by. The memories of your monastery days long faded from your mind. The paranoia of anyone coming to assassinate you was gone.

Worst of all? You no longer feared death.

In fact, you accepted it. This is war. Not everyone survives. You thought about death countless times at the beginning of the war when you were unable to sleep due to your nightmares. You cried at first at the thought of dying. It was terrifying. Being alive one second and suddenly nothing the next. That is the fate of all who live and have ever once held life in their bodies. You would one day return to the Earth below you.
