Chapter 13

"I would choose you in every lifetime."

*flashback continues*

Aina's gaze alternated between positions. One time her eyes scanned the surroundings below her, another time her eyes drifted towards Chishiya who was leaning against the railing. He had the hood of his white sweatshirt pulled over his head, and Aina noticed that his eyes wandered to her now and then.

For a long time, only the footsteps of the other players' shoes could be heard below them on the other floors, who were looking for a safe zone. Aina still didn't understand why her with Chishiya weren't doing the same, to which she sighed and cursed herself for letting herself in on his plan. But she kept repeating what Kuina had told her a few times about Chishiya. It's nice to have Chishiya on your side.

"What will the Tagger look like?" Aina yelled towards Chishiya, leaning against the railing as he did. She was getting bored.

"How should I know?" Chishiya sighed and looked away from Aina to the right where he saw Aguni and Hiroto coming. He smiled and raised his hand, waving it at them. However, the two of them completely ignored him and continued in a different direction, away from both of them, away from Aina and Chishiya.

"Who was that?" Aina asked with a furrowed brow as she watched Chishiya.

"Our driver." Chishiya yelled back at her with a grin.

Then shots rang out all over the place. They were rapid bursts of bullets that were fired from the gun in large numbers.

"He has a machine gun." Chishiya said loud enough for the frightened Aina to hear. She felt her heart begin to dance with excitement.

"Really? You look quite calm about it." She yelled at him with anger. She placed her left hand on her chest and raised right hand so that her fingers didn't even flinch from fear for a moment.

"Watch." Chishiya nodded his head downwards to signal Aine to pay attention as they had agreed on before.

Aina leaned her face forward a little so that she could see better.

Her eyes widened as she saw a man in a suit running down the corridor directly above them, phone in hand, screaming for help. From around the corner, a tall and powerful figure of a man, wearing a rubber mask of a horse, came running at him from behind.

He held a large machine gun in his hand, which he then aimed at the fleeing man and fired several times. The bullets hit his back and flew through the front of his body. The shot man fell to the ground and lay motionless on the ground in a pool of his own blood.

Aina cowered herself in fear. She curled up on the ground and let her back lean against the brick railing behind her. She clamped both palms over her mouth and swallowed loudly the lump in her throat.

She felt lost. She has no way to defend herself and she didn't believe in her abilities enough to even entertain the idea that she would be able to overpower an attacker who weighed 30 kg more than her.

Subsequently, she heard the attacker's heavy footsteps leaving and therefore tried to quietly lift herself off the ground. She leaned her elbows on the banister and watched the attacker walk away towards the stairs that led to the lower floor.

"There's the answer to your question about what he looks like." Chishiya laughed without showing even a hint of fear or sadness in his voice.

"When we meet him, we don't stand a chance against him." Aina began to panic.
