"Is it killing you like it's killing me?"

Chapter 34

*flashback continues*

Tears welled up in Aina's eyes and her heart sank in grief. Chishiya's words hurt in the worst parts of her body.

She felt cheated and taken advantage of. She felt as if Chishiya had stolen a piece of her soul, broken it and gave it back to her without trying to stick it back together.

She opened the door to the room, slipped in and immediately slammed it behind her. Tears streamed down her cheeks and she let them fall freely. Strong and loud sobs escaped her lips. She couldn't suppress how she felt at that moment.

She tried to look strong in front of him, but as soon as he was out of her sight, she broke like a flower stem in the wind.

She walked over to the big bed in the middle of the room, where she sat down and frantically wiped her wet cheeks from the waterfall of salty tears.

She felt her heart pounding and at the same time she felt a strong stabbing pain in her back and abdomen. She really felt like she was being pierced by a million knives at once.

As she didn't know how to stop the unbearable pain, she just lay down dejectedly and bent her legs at the knees.

She was aware that she felt something deeper for Chishiya than just friendship, but she didn't think he would be able to push her away so quickly and callously after yesterday.

"That heartless idiot! How dare he talk to me like that?!" She hissed with pain in her heart, wiping her tears with the sleeve of her T-shirt.

She was shaking the moment she heard the door to the room open and she quickly tried to wipe her tears even better and pretend that everything was fine. Because she knew it was Kuina and she didn't want to talk about anything related to Chishiya in front of her.

"I brought you some cereal. You can't just be on an apple all day." Kuina said turning to Aina right after closing the door behind her.

Aina sat down and tucked strands of hair behind her ears with two fingers. She smiled and her eyes rested on Kuina, whose gaze caught Aina's red and shiny face. In her right hand she held a large bowl full of colorful cereal and in the other she carried sweet, flavored water.

As soon as she saw her friend's face, she knew something was wrong.

"Did you cry?"  Kuina asked flatly as she placed the bowl and water bottle on the bedside table.

Aina sighed loudly and ran a hand through her hair desperately. She felt her tears coming to the surface again, but she didn't have the strength not to let them out.

"Maybe." Aina snorted before putting her feet up on the bed and resting her hands on her knees as she watched as Kuina sat down next to her.

"It's related to yesterday, isn't it?" Kuina spoke with a questioning tone, but Aina didn't answer her.

"Actually, you don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to. I won't force you. But I don't want you to be at the bottom mentally, because you won't last long with that attitude." Kuina's left arm wrapped around Aina's shoulders and cradled her under her chin.

She stroked her back, trying to calm her down as she heard her trying to stifle her sobs.

"Then who will bother me when you are not here? I would miss you." She added after a moment before Aina wet her black T-shirt with her tears.
