Re: Drunk Voicemails

As happy as I am that Jeremy finally kissed you, did you have to call me drunk to tell me about it! You always have been a chatty drunk. Did you notice the voicemail you left was eight minutes long! Since you probably don't remember anything, you said I'll refresh your memory.

"Kiki!!! My very, very, very favorite best friend!!! Something wonderful has happened! Even better than the end of High School Musical. Shhh don't tell Lizzie I actually like that movie. But what straight woman or gay man didn't fall completely in love with Zac Efron after that. Now what was I saying? Oh yeah great news!!! Jeremy kissed me!! Kissed me!! Kissed me!! It happened during the firework show. He's a very, very good kisser! Much better than Henri. Did I tell you his breath always smelled like winter mint gum? You know I prefer the tropical flavors. Would a watermelon every now and then have killed him? Oh, look, Rue de Lepic is sleeping on my pillow. He's such a good kitty but I think he's getting a bit fat."

Then you go on about how Rue de Lepic needs to be put on a diet and you can't remember how Captain Hook dies. Spoiler: He gets eaten by a crocodile. Though I don't know why you were thinking about that.

But it sounds like you had a nice fourth. Alec and I just made steaks and watched American Pie. The beard is getting worse! I also haven't heard from the pet groomer in a while. Maybe he died and his dog ate him? That would be unfortunate as he still hasn't paid me!

Enjoy what's left of your European adventure. Check out some colleges if you can find the time!

Your very, very, very favorite best friend,

Kiki

That morning Jeremy announced they needed a change of scenery. He suggested taking a short trip to Nice. Kate didn't need to be asked twice! She immediately began to pack and made sure Elodie would take care of Rue de Lepic in her absence. Warning her not to overfeed her and limit her treats to two a day.

They boarded the train to Nice that evening. So far, they had only kissed. According to Jeremy he couldn't sleep with a girl that he knew was under the influence, but that was only on the fourth of July! Such a goody, goody! But that was one of the many reasons she liked him!

Since Kate had been gone nearly a month on her European adventure and she had only seen Paris and the Loire Valley she was very excited about exploring a new place.

"It's only a short train ride to Monaco and Cannes if you want to take in some other cities." Jeremy had informed her as the train sped them toward Nice.

"I definitely do!" Kate agreed.

They decided to spend the first day in Nice then take a day each in Monaco and Cannes.

"These trains are so much nicer than the ones in America." Kate observed. And she wasn't just talking aesthetically either. The ride was much smoother. Most trains she was used to had graffiti on the walls and stuffing coming out of the seat cushions.

"Yeah, you can't get away with that kind of shit out here. Unless you take the Metra in Paris."

"I did!" Kate realized, "I had forgotten about that. Which brings me to my other point. Everything is so much more expensive here!"

Jeremy chuckled, "Which is why you live in Kansas."

Kate sighed. "I guess. But it's so boring there."

"You just need to travel more."

"Or I could move." Kate perked up. "Like you?"

"You mean move to New York?"

Kate nodded.

"That's only temporary." He reminded her.

"Still not feeling like being a lawyer?" Kate suspected.

He shrugged. "It's good money. A stable job. I just don't see myself loving it."

"I don't see myself loving teaching either." Kate admitted.

"Who said you needed to be a teacher?" Jeremy asked, surprised.

"Kiki. It's better than keeping my job at Applebee's."

"I'm sure there's another better option out there." Jeremy said positively.

"Kiki also said I could be an editor."

"That sounds better." Jeremy agreed.

"Well, it should at least pay better. I don't want to have to listen to, "Jesse's Girl," forever."

Jeremy frowned at her. "I don't get that reference."

Kate laughed. "It's between me and my mom."

The rest of the train ride passed rather quickly; Kate may have dozed off on Jeremy's shoulder for a bit. In Nice they took a taxi to their hotel near Place Messina. The hotel, while quaint, was a little strange. Their room was on the third floor and there was only one elevator. A tiny elevator that in Kate's opinion looked like an overly large birdcage! They each had to ride up separately with their luggage.

Once settled they left to explore and walked along the boardwalk, sharing a banana and kiwi ice cream cone. Kate felt refreshed being by the ocean and feeling the warm breeze on her face. For dinner they had Italian food, then watched the sunset.

"Thanks for suggesting we come here." Kate said as they walked back to the hotel holding hands.

"Well, it wasn't just for you. My parents were starting to get on my nerves."

"Don't I know how that is. I'm sure you don't remember my mother but she's insane!"

Jeremy laughed. "I'm so glad I found you in that café."

"I thought I found you?" Kate joked.

"It was a mutual finding then."

They kissed and Kate hoped tonight they would finally do more than just that.

Re: Drunk Voicemails

Oops!

Sorry!

You know I have no control when I'm drunk. Which really isn't all that often if you think about it. And the fourth of July party was a masquerade. I went as Tinkerbell, that's why I was thinking about Peter Pan. And Rue de Lepic is definitely getting fat!!!

God, I hope that old man didn't die! Do you think he grooms cats too?
Jeremy and I stole away to Nice for a few days! So, I may not email you back right away after this! We are heading to Monaco and Cannes too! I'm not a big gambler but I heard it's beautiful there!! Mostly I just want to check out the palace. I love Grace Kelly!! Although her death was super tragic!!

And to answer your question. NO, WE STILL HAVE NOT DONE IT! But trust me it has not been for lack of trying on my part. I don't know what his deal is. It's really starting to worry me. I know I'm not super experienced, but it shouldn't require this much convincing! Any suggestions??

Confused & Frustrated,

Kate

P.S. I know you were mocking me, but you really are my very favorite best friend!
