Re: Summer Reflections

I know you'll be home in a few hours, but I wanted to tell you a few things, so you aren't surprised.

First, and please don't let this go to your head, Billy is now officially my boyfriend. I'm still not quite sure how that happened. Other than The Big Bang Theory is right and there is an appeal for geeky guys into superheroes. Mom still doesn't know, it's just more fun keeping her in the dark lol. We had gone to see The Help, my choice obviously. Well, if I had to sit through all those marvel movies, he can see something I like! Anyway, after the movie Billy asked if he could kiss me so I said yes. It was actually nice. I was surprised! And then the next day he asked if I would be his girlfriend. For some reason I liked the formality, so I said yes to that too! So, now I have a boyfriend! I guess this summer wasn't so bad after all.

Second, Henri is the worst! I hope you poisoned his wine!

Third, how should I know what you should do? I can't even drive yet!

Finally, I'm glad Jeremy told you he loves you! As you once told me. He's a good, decent, sweet guy.

XOXO

Lizzie

P.S. Yes, they played "Shout." And "YMCA," and the "Cuban Shuffle."

P.P.S. Mom has not been watering your plant! But I have. That will be two hundred dollars! Lol

Kate was quiet the next morning.

They had a quick breakfast at the hotel. Fruit, croissants, and yogurt.

Jeremy arranged for a taxi to pick them up to take them to the airport. Kate assured Jeremy he didn't need to accompany her, but he insisted.

It was another sunny, warm day. Kate wore yellow leggings and a white T-shirt with the Eiffel tower on it. If they'd had more time, she had wanted to go back with Jeremy, but time had slipped by and now she was going home. Jeremy was leaving in a week for New York. They had made plans to call and email but Kate knew long-distance relationships had a high likelihood of not working out. She didn't want to become another statistic but what could she do if Jeremy fell out of love with her?

The airport was busy when they arrived. Jeremy told Kate to wait on the sidewalk while he helped the driver unload her luggage. Once that was done, Jeremy paid their fare and the taxi drove away.

It was then Kate noticed the luggage stacked next to Jeremy. Kate had only brought her wheelie suitcase and duffle bag but there was a second suitcase next to hers and a backpack which Jeremy now picked up.

"Are you leaving for New York today?" Kate asked surprised and confused Jeremy wouldn't have told her this.

Jeremy handed Kate her duffle.

"No, I thought I'd come to Kansas with you to meet your family."

Kate's heart soured. "Really?" she asked, hardly believing her luck.

"Yeah," he answered, grabbing the handles of their suitcases and dragging them out of the street.

"If that's okay with you?"

"Of course, it's okay!" Kate exclaimed.

"I don't want this to end Kate," he said, taking her in his arms. "That's why I'd like you to consider studying journalism in New York."

"I...I mean...that sounds great, but I've missed the cutoff for this semester. I need to apply first and see if I even get in."

"You'll get in." He assured her. "You can start in the winter semester. In the meantime, you can find a job to save up for tuition and keep me company."

"That sounds wonderful." Kate sighed. "You always think of everything."

Jeremy shrugged. "I just know what makes you happy."

Kate smiled. "That too."

They kissed. A wonderful, warm, promising kiss that everything was going to work out.

"But fair warning. My mom's kind of crazy." Kate added once they'd pulled apart.

They entered the airport.

"Yes, Kate. I'm aware. Corduroy pants, remember?"

Kate laughed.

For an adventure in Europe that had started off quite bleak and devastating it had turned into the most amazing, surprising, and rewarding time of her life. She had a wonderful boyfriend, a plan for her future and best of all.... comfortable clothes for her second transatlantic flight!

Re: Summer Reflections

You thought you had news!! Mom's going to have a heart attack! Jeremy is coming back to Kansas with me! He wanted to meet the family and asked me to come to New York with him. So, it turns out I won't be home for very long. I've decided to pursue a career in journalism. Hopefully, some college in New York will accept me!

As for Billy, I'll keep this short. I TOLD YOU SO!! Very happy for you. Which Big Bang character do you think he most resembles? Leonard? He's not creepy like Howard, right?

And to finally break the suspense. Jeremy and I had sex. Though I do find it odd I have to keep announcing this to everyone. He was worth the wait. But don't tell mom!

I just finished the book he wrote! I'd been meaning to read it all summer but kept getting distracted. Ten hours on a plane was just what I needed to finally finish! It was a love story about a man who keeps missing the woman he loves and travels the word searching for her only to discover she lives in his apartment building. He's very talented. I know he's going to be a lawyer, but he has a second career to fall back on if he needs it.

I just realized if Jeremy and I ever get married I'll be able to tell people we have a château in France! Take that Danielle and the Honeybees!

I think I'll take a nap now. I want to be fully alert when I tell mom I'm moving to New York!

Can't wait to see you!

Kate

P.S. Thanks for watering my plant! Since I'm moving you can just have it. Gladiolus bloom from June through the first frost.

P.P.S. My inflight movies were, The Proposal and What's Your Number? My number is now two. And I'm okay with that!
