Did you tell mom that Billy should take me to the movies?

He likes Slurpee's and Goobers? Who eats' Goobers anymore? They didn't even sell them at the movie theater; he brought them himself! I just wanted to see Chris Evans and instead I had to listen to him the whole time explaining to me about the marvel universe. THANK GOD, no one from school saw us! Billy was decked out in Captain America gear. I don't need anyone thinking I'm into a comic book loving, ballet dancing, fossil collecting guy!

Speaking of which we have a competition coming up next week and Miss Laney has us performing a Fox Trot and Salsa. I really want to do well, so we've been holding extra practices. Interestingly, Billy told me he started dancing because his mom used to be a dancer and he wanted to cheer her up after his dad died. Which is actually pretty sweet. He stuck with it when he realized he was pretty good at it and liked all the attention from girls. Though that part is mostly all in his head.

I'm glad to hear things are going well with Jeremy. Henri was never really your type anyway. Too flashy, you need substance and stability. Have you guys at least kissed yet? For your sake I hope the answer is yes.

The next day, Kate and Jeremy spent the day at the beach.

Kate enjoyed the pool at Chateau de Langlois but there was something special about being near the ocean. The smell of salt water and sand, the crashing of the waves, the hot sun beating on their bodies. Kate wore her red and white polka dot bikini. Secretly, she was hoping the location change would help in moving things along with Jeremy. It's not like she could just come out and ask him to have sex with her!

The beach was fairly crowded, but they were able to find a nice spot near the water's edge and laid out their beach blankets. First, they decided to do some swimming, mostly because it was so hot! Jeremy was an excellent swimmer, while Kate treaded water.

She floated on her back at one point and closed her eyes and just took a moment to appreciate where she was and who she was with and how awful this summer might have turned out if she'd never met Jeremy. Unlike most of the guys she had previously dated, they'd never had the depth to their relationship that Kate had with Jeremy. They were open and honest with each other, confiding their fears and aspirations. She wasn't afraid to tell him anything, not counting his lack of sexual advances, and she knew she could always depend on him.

When they returned to the beach to dry off, Jeremy opened the cooler he had brought along and handed her a wine cooler, taking a beer out for himself.

"Nice is lovely. I'm glad we came here." Kate told him.

"I knew you'd like it."

There were plenty of good-looking men at the beach, Kate couldn't help but notice them but while nice to look at she knew the only man that interested her was sitting beside her.

"Somehow I doubt I would have made it here if I was staying with Henri."

Jeremy put his beer down.

"What was it about him?" Jeremy asked quietly, "Was it just because he was French?"

"No," Kate shook her head, "Although I'd probably go out at least once with any guy that has an accent. Henri just seemed so out of my reach. I was shocked he was interested in me."

"Why?" Jeremy asked, genuinely confused, "You're pretty, smart, funny."

Kate smiled kindly at him. "Jer, I'm average and I know it. And that's fine. But average isn't usually good enough for landing a guy like Henri. And it turns out it wasn't since that blew up in a most humiliating manner in my face."

"Well Henri's an ass. And you're an idiot for thinking you're just average."

Kate narrowed her eyes at him. "Did you just call me an idiot?"

"For argumentative purposes, yes." He leaned over to her, "Is that a problem?"

"Well, if I'm an idiot, what does that make you for dating me?" Kate asked teasingly.

"A happy idiot."

Kate smiled as Jeremy kissed her. He really was a good kisser. It made her think just how good he would be at all the other stuff. If he ever got around to making a move on her!

But not on the beach, too public and messy. She didn't need sand getting everywhere!

"I like you so much more than Henri. You know that right?" Kate asked as Jeremy stretched out beside her.

"I do now."

"You should have already known that! Now who's the idiot?"

Jeremy chuckled. "Let's just call it what it is. We're two idiots in love."

Love?

Jeremy was in love with her.

Then why wouldn't he sleep with her?

Questions to be answered later she supposed.

"Right?" he asked, looking unsure now.

Kate smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. "Right."

I don't know why you can't just admit you like Billy! I've been more than honest about my feelings for Jeremy! And yes, we've kissed! But sadly, that's all we've done. Don't tell mom I said that! She still doesn't know I'm not a virgin. The Goober's thing is a bit weird but at least he came prepared. And that's so cute about why he started dancing!

Did I mention Jeremy and I are in Nice! It's so beautiful here! Today we spent the whole day at the beach, I've been eating a lot of gelato. It's like everywhere! My favorite flavors are pistachio and tiramisu! Tomorrow we're going to Monaco.

And you should be thanking me for telling mom about Billy! Otherwise, you'd have had to sit through Planet of the Apes!

As for staying out of your love life, you realize you're basically admitting you have one and your love interest is Billy, right? You are so in denial! Just give the guy a chance. So maybe he's not exactly the kind of guy you saw yourself with? At least he's decent, smart, and kind. All I'm saying is you could do a lot worse.
