CHAPTER 15-SCHEME

"Where is my bath water? I requested it earlier! Why isn't it here yet?" Lady Lina shouted at her maid. The lady flinched at the sound of her voice.

"I already asked an omega to bring it here, My Lady," her lady-in-waiting answered in a trembling voice. She cast a deadly glare in her maid's direction, causing the woman to cower more in fright.

"If I had a choice, I would throw you into the Dispersers' territory! You are slow and useless! I don't see any reason why my father is keeping you!" Lady Lina said to her lady-in-waiting angrily. She raised her hand and was about to slap the lady, but a strong arm restrained her hand before it would land on her maid's face.

"A fine lady shouldn't be quick with her hand, My Lady," said a man with a husky voice. Lady Lina's sharp gaze went from her maid to the owner of the hand that stopped her. When she recognized the owner of those hands, her demeanor changed entirely. Her eyes twinkled and her face brightened.

"You are here," she exclaimed excitedly and smiled sweetly at the man.

"Yes, I am, My Lady," the owner of the husky voice said to her, returning her sweet smile. Planting a kiss on her knuckles, which makes Lady Lina giggle with delight. She returned her attention to her maid, without trying to withdraw her hand held by the man.

"You!" she said, pointing at her maid, using her one free hand. "You wait outside, and if the omega comes with my bath water tell him that he should wait outside too, until I say otherwise," Lady Lina commanded her maid. The woman immediately nodded her head and bowed low to Lady Lina and to the man who stopped her from punishing the maid. Lady Lina's lady-in-waiting hurriedly went out and closed the door of her chamber and stood in front of it.

When the maid was gone and they were finally alone, Lady Lina threw herself in the arms of the man. She enclosed her arms at the base of his neck and pushed herself against his lean body. "I was glad that you came, Argus," she exclaimed his name seductively.

The man she called Argus encircled his strong arms around her delicate waist. Argus returned her embrace passionately. He tightened his hold on her and scooped her up, pressing her more to his body until even the air would not be able to pass in between them.

"How can I not come, when I know that you will be here with Badr? I know you told me not to worry, but I don't want to take any chances. Maybe this is all a scheme that you and your father planned to have power in the capital and take the throne, but it's Badr that we are talking about. It's not a secret to us both that you have had a crush on him for a long time," Argus said to her huskily, with a hint of jealousy in his voice. He leaned his face closer to her, brushing their noses together, putting his forehead against hers, eyeing her with so much love and passion.

"You don't trust me?" Lady Lina asks him, one eyebrow raised. She slightly leaned back her head, putting some distance between their faces. Feigning hurt in her expression but keeping herself firmly pressed against his hard body.

"I do trust you, but..." whatever Argus was about to say was stopped, when all of a sudden Lady Lina's lips collided with his.

She felt him stiffen and was stunned for a second, but when she let out her tongue and tasted his lips, his restraint shattered. She felt him move, pulling her even closer. Scooping her by the waist, his one arm caressed her cheek and held her at the nape of her neck to deepen the kiss that she started. He gave her a knee-buckling kiss. For once, she was grateful that he was holding her tight.

'This man is the only man that can stir something inside me,' she thought. Her hand glided up his firm back and into the hair on the scruff of his neck, gripping tightly while returning the intensity of the kiss that Argus was giving her. Their tongues entwined, fighting for domination, tasting each other's mouths. As the heat between them intensified, soft moans escaped their lips.
