He was standing in a corner. Hiding in the shadow of the stalls that were located in the capital of the Sahara. Although it was still early, the center had already begun buzzing with people. He tried his best to blend with them, but sometimes he got a side glance from passersby. He doesn't want to draw attention to himself, that's why he prefers to stay away from the people and hide among the shadows of the stalls.
He patiently waited for the person that Lady Lina asked him to fetch. Whoever it was, it seemed important to her. He smiled inwardly when the events of what happened to them this morning flashed back in his mind. Because of what they did earlier, he couldn't say no to the woman he loved. It was fortunate that nobody saw her leaving his chamber after what happened between them.
Now here he was at the center, hiding in the shadows; after leaving Lady Lina in the secret room of the tavern that the Khiterrans owned inside the Sahara.
Although Argus didn't meet the man, through her description, he had a vague view of what he looked like. Aside from the name Lady Lina mentioned to him. 'How could this man help her? Hadn't she had an eye for Badr all along so she could get the crown and the throne for herself? Who is this man anyway?' he thought. He couldn't fathom why Lady Lina wanted to meet a man in private and talk about their plan to usurp the throne. Argus knew that this whole plan to take the throne was a plan between Alpha Malik and Lady Lina alone. 'So why talk with another man who comes from the other clan?' Questions were swirling in his head. Although he was curious, he didn't have the right to ask her about this. He was just her trusted warrior. He was of no rank to meddle with their plan, and because of it, he hated himself for being born as lowborn.
All of a sudden, he felt his beast stir. He began to sense a dangerous creature coming towards him. He could feel its powerful aura from a distance. He didn't see who it was, yet he could feel that it was no ordinary being. Then from somewhere in the center of the capital, he saw a man resembling what Lady Lina had described to him. 'That must be Ashraf,' he mumbled, even though he wasn't sure if he saw the right man.
He eyed the man carefully. The man seemed ordinary, but there was something about him that made his beast stir. Ashraf wasn't as big as him, he was neither skinny nor bulky. Argus' beast was inwardly growling, it seemed restless by the mere sight of the man. 'This is the first time that I have seen this man, but he is already getting on me and my wolf's nerves,' he said to himself. 'Is he the one who was carrying that powerful aura?' he thought.
Argus silently watched Ashraf from a distance. He was wondering what Lady Lina wanted with the man. He admittedly felt a pang of jealousy, since the man was handsome. Although Ashraf looked plain in his white thawb and regular shemagh, he couldn't deny that there was something about Ashraf besides his looks that made people who were passing by do a double-take just to look at him. Ashraf was a few feet away from him, and yet he could feel the power that was radiating off of him, his beast could feel it too. His beast growled inside him at the mere sight of the man, it confirmed his initial thought of the man. Ashraf was bearing that powerful aura and he was far from being ordinary.
'Is this the reason why Lady Lina wanted to talk to him? She saw how powerful he is. Where does this man come from?' Questions swirl in his head. He saw Ashraf stop in the middle of the center, trying to be discreet while scanning the place. Argus finally decided to walk toward the man.
"Sir Ashraf?" he asks, trying to confirm if he got the right man
"Yes?" Ashraf answered, questioningly. Argus-eyed him from head to toe. He could see caution in the man's eyes.
"Come with me. Lady Lina is waiting for you," he said to Ashraf in a flat tone, while he secretly assessed him. He didn't wait for Ashraf to answer. Argus just turned his back on him and started to walk away from the center going back into the tavern. He didn't even check if Ashraf followed him or not.
