"Your Majesty, Alpha Allister is here," a warrior guarding the king's chamber announced to King Abdul. He was currently in his royal chamber, preparing to start his day.

"Thank you. Please let Beta Sabir lead him to my office, and tell them to wait for me there," King Abdul instructed. He put on his bisht over his thawb, then he wore his shemagh with the royal insignia at his egal. The omega that was helping him dress gave him his jambiya, just like the royal insignia on his egal, there was a royal crest carved in its handle. This jambiya was passed down to him by his late father after his father announced to the kingdom that he will be the royal crown prince and not Sabir, since Sabir doesn't have the royal mark on his beast, and unfortunately he had it on his beast.

The memories of the past started to flow in his mind...

"C'mon Abdul, why are you feeling so down? Today is the day that you will get your wolf. Aren't you excited?" Allister, his best buddy, asked him.

"How could I, Allister? I dread this day. What if, just like my brother, I don't have the mark? Can you imagine what my father will do to me?" Abdul replied to his friend.

"How bad could it be? Look at it this way, if you don't have the mark, at least you are free from your father's grip. You can go out on your own," Allister said to him, trying to cheer him up.

"But..."

"Remember, if you have the mark, you will be the heir to the throne. I know how the King treats you. If you think that he will change the way he treats you just because have the mark, think twice. Think how he treated Sabir when he thought that Sabir would be his heir, and think about how he treats Sabir now," Abdul said to him, not even letting him finish his words. "If you don't bear the mark of Silu'ah, at least you know that you can run away from him anytime. You can hide in our clan. My father will give you protection if it comes to that," Allister added.

"Your father is the General of my father. How can he defy my father? I am grateful that you are my friend, but I won't put you and your family in danger if I don't have the mark. If I run away, I will run away on my own," Abdul said to Allister firmly.

"You can always count on me, Abdul. What are friends for?" Allister said.

"My Prince, it's time," one of his father's warriors came and called him.

Allister nodded at him. "I will be there," he said before Abdul went with the warrior who called him. The next thing he knew he was in front of everyone in Aucrolux. All clans were gathered in the mountain where the shrine of Silu'ah was. The merriment started, people were dancing and chanting in front of a bonfire. When the full moon came his calvary started.

King Abdul shook his head to get rid of the bitter and painful memories in his head. He was avoiding his past as much as possible, but it seemed to be catching up on him. He needs to face it head-on until he passes his throne to Badr. He hoped that everything would go smoothly until then.

He put the jambiya on the belt at his waist then waved his hand to dismiss the omega that was serving him. The omega nodded, bowed low, and barred his neck to him before leaving him alone in his room.

Outside of the king's chamber...

"Allister," Beta Sabir greeted the Alpha of the Drozosha clan.

Alpha Allister eyed Beta Sabir carefully. "Sabir," he greeted back.

"Come and let me take you to the king's office," Beta Sabir said to the Alpha, flatly. His face was void of any emotion. He started to walk, not looking back at the alpha to see if he was following or not.
