The next day, Taylor woke up nearly at noon with too many notifications on her phone to even check. She rubbed her eyes, still half-asleep as she pushed herself out of her bed, tugging at her oversized navy-blue t-shirt that posed as her pajamas.
It wasn't surprising that the house was still asleep judging from the lack of noise. Tony slept in a bunch when she still lived at home, since he was usually up until dawn, tinkering with his suits and surviving on coffee. Taylor didn't quite understand why he wanted to constantly be in that lab as she herself hadn't been obsessed with science, and she wished there would be something in the future she would be so keen about. But then again, she was rather keen on her little project.
Taylor walked down the flight of stairs slowly, taking in every inch of the space around her. Slipping her phone out of her pocket, she took a quick look at the message Steve had sent her. She smirked at the laugh emojis he sent back to her video as she strolled into the kitchen, typing a reply with one hand as she opened the fridge.
You: Hope you watched all of the videos ;)
A reply arrived momentarily as Taylor poured some milk into a mug.
Steve: It was...spectacular.
Tony singing I mean.
Taylor: Lucky you didn't hear me sing :P
Steve: I kind of want to now...
Taylor: Never
A noise startled Taylor into oblivion as she spun around to face the sound, her hands quickly flying up in fists in front of her. Tony stood behind her with raised eyebrows and squinted eyes, his tired face indicating that he was just woken up and Taylor almost smacked him with all her might. Despite the little trust issue concerning footsteps, she was glad that the classes she took from Natasha were paying off. She almost hit Steve the other day as well...that's what they get for sneaking up on her.
"Why are you smiling at your phone all giddy and shit?" Tony questioned; his raspy voice laced with exhaustion. He reached over to Taylor to grab himself a mug and began to brew some coffee.
Taylor just rolled her eyes. "I was talking to Steve,"
"How surprising." Tony's eyes met hers briefly. "I can already tell that you'll be dating in a year."
"Would you stop?" Taylor huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "We're just friends."
"I really hope so Taylor, because I don't like him."
"You don't even know him!" She groaned, throwing her hands up in exasperation. "Let's just talk about something else."
Tony hummed in response, pouring himself a cup of steaming coffee. The smell made Taylor's stomach churn as she downed the remaining of her milk, looking into the fridge again in search of something to eat.
"Remember the super-secret boyband I told you about?" Tony asked quietly, blowing at his hot coffee. Taylor nodded absent-mindedly. "I didn't qualify."
"They told you?"
"Called me the other day. Said I had a list of reasons why I would never become the lead singer." He shrugged. Taylor laughed out loud at his explanation. "But I was told that they contacted you too. Something you failed to inform me about."
"I, uh, yes. Fury found me somehow. Told me about the Avengers Initiative and all. He even asked me to showcase to him what my suit could do." Taylor trailed off, grabbing a hold of some eggs to make some breakfast. "That's the sole reason I got a job at S.H.I.E.L.D."
