A strange noise woke Taylor from her already light sleep, causing her to shoot up in her bed with wide eyes. It took her long enough to finally fall asleep with the knowledge that she was all alone, and she even ended up putting Robocat on her bedside table to guard her while she slept. She held her breath as she listened in silence, wanting to confirm her suspicion, that somebody was indeed in her house. There wasn't any noise again however, which still unnerved her as she refrained from flipping her lights on, grabbing her phone and her baseball bat from under her bed.

Raising it in the air in front of her in such a way she was ready to strike, Taylor creeped out of her room in the darkness, moving soundlessly due to Natasha's influence. The hallway was empty, and she heard no moving nearby, so she carefully walked to the top of the stairs, looking straight down to the bottom floor to see if any movement catches her eye.

Taking a ragged, deep breath, she descended the stairs, skipping the creaky step skillfully. Once her foot touched smooth ground again, she raised the baseball bat in her hands again, jumping at a noise coming from the bathroom. The light was on in there, it illuminated the floor, and a chill ran through her at the realization that there was a robber in her home. She didn't have time to question why they would search for valuables in her bathroom as she made her way to the door, making sure to be as silent as possible.

Seeing the man in her bathroom, facing away from her, she clutched her baseball bat tighter and got ready to strike, but her hesitation only resulted in letting the man turn her way, and the familiar face surprised her so much that she dropped the baseball bat from her hands. It was Steve, and he was in rather bad shape.

Taylor stared at him, inspecting the cut on his lip, the greenish-purple bruise on his right cheekbone, and the way he was holding his side so tightly. Worry consumed her as she reached out to touch his face, but he flinched away from her, leaning away.

"What the fuck happened to you?" Taylor interrogated much more harshly than she meant to, trying to grab the hand that was touching his side to see the damage.

He, yet again, pulled away, but he wasn't quick enough, and Taylor nudged his hand, seeing the redness. Blood. A lot of blood.

"I'm fine, I just need some bandages," Steve replied, his voice raspy as he calmly met her eyes. She balled her hands into fists.

"You call this fine?" She questioned dangerously. "Sit down."

He obliged without missing a beat, seating himself on the edge of the bathtub. Taylor scrambled to get the first aid kit she kept in one of the drawers, yanking the box out and hastily throwing it open. He watched her pull out the small glass of liquid along with a bigger roll of bandages.

"Take your shirt off," Taylor ordered yet again, turning her head to him. He allowed a small smirk to pull onto his lips, which made them bleed again.

"I knew you loved seeing me shirtless," He commented under his breath as he carefully pulled his t-shirt over his head, wincing.

"If it makes you feel any better, I love seeing you without clothes the most." Taylor wiggled her eyebrows despite the seriousness of the situation, enjoying the way a blush spread on Steve's cheeks. "Will you tell me what happened, or would you rather flirt with me and act like there isn't a deep cut on your side?"

"I was supposed to secure a building," He said simply, earning a look from her that urged him to elaborate. "And there weren't supposed to be people in that building."

"So, you were attacked." Taylor furrowed her eyebrows in concern as she crouched, gently moving his hand away from the cut so she could clean it.

"I was handling it fine until a man came at me from behind, and as I turned to hit him, he stabbed me." He shrugged as if it wasn't that big of a deal, then immediately winced as Taylor rubbed the cotton pad soaked with alcohol over his wound.
