Six months later

Taylor awoke that day to a phone call from S.H.I.E.L.D., despite quitting work there a few months ago. She pondered on picking it up, but there was a horrible feeling settling in her gut, so she raised the phone to her ear, and listened to her old co-worker, Phil Coulson, tell her about what happened. The Tesseract was stolen by somebody called Loki, who was apparently from space.

At first, she thought he was pranking her. It was unbelievable and quite frankly, weird. But they needed her, actually needed her help to get the Tesseract back.

After the New Year's Eve party at the Malibu mansion, Taylor joined the training at S.H.I.E.L.D., and she trained to be an agent for at least three months. She finished the course fast, due to her putting tremendous effort and work into it, faster than the average agents, and when she was completely sure she knew how to fight and protect herself, she left S.H.I.E.L.D., but not without having to sign a bunch of papers about secrecy. She taught herself how to use her project, her suit, to the best of her abilities after, all alone.

At night, she walked the streets, invisible, helping out the people who were in desperate need of it, and during the day, she studied to be an engineer and became an intern at Stark Industries until she finished her degree. New York's ghost made headlines again, and only two people knew the identity of the ghost, them being Tony Stark, and Nick Fury. The latter was only speculation.

Tony was proud of his sister for changing for the better. She became more mature and hard-working, but at the same time, he felt that she was deeply sad and lonely. She never talked about her feelings again after their last phone call where she cried, she bottled it all up and acted like she had a cold heart.

People thought of her as a bitch most of the time, as she had no interest in being a schmoozer, she talked evenly without emotion in her voice, so she came off as somebody strong, who couldn't be hurt easily. That was the new persona she created for herself, and it wasn't only apparent at her workplace, but during her everyday life as well. She was the same old her with her friends though, and with her family, but to everybody else, she was cold and quiet.

But despite life going rather well for her, she was incredibly lonely. She felt alone everywhere, especially at home, and sometimes, the days smudged together, like time wasn't making sense anymore. At least that was how she felt until she started going out at night in her suit.

The adrenaline rush gave her what she really wanted for a long time, a feeling that replaced the usual emptiness she felt. It was thrilling, she loved putting herself in life-or-death situations, and even when she got a bit hurt, she went back out there, not fearing for her life.

So, when Coulson called her, she agreed to help. She wanted something more extreme, experience something that would give her a little more rush. But first, she needed to see her brother, because if she was called, he would also be notified about it.

The Stark tower was Tony's newest building, close to Taylor's apartment. It was going to be her new workplace soon, but Tony just solved the electricity problem the other day, so that had to wait a little.

Taylor called ahead, Tony was home with Maddy, although Taylor didn't have much time to meet her niece as Tony was sending her off with Pepper back to Malibu, for her safety. Only that one sentence revealed that he was called, too, so they were bringing both of them in.

Stepping out of the elevator, Taylor headed toward the lab, because she was almost one hundred percent sure that he was in there. The place was quiet, and she didn't see Maddy anywhere, so she knocked a couple of times on the door of the lab, waiting for a response from her brother.
