Chapter 17.

Hunter's POV

Hunter kneeled before his uncle as Belos tapped his fingers on his throne's armrest.

"Empty handed again, Hunter? I'm surprised. I truly believed you would be thankful for me taking you in." Belos said with irritation in his voice.

Hunter blankly stared down at the floor.

"Yet you can't capture palismen nor capture Y/N of all people. The Golden Guard can't even capture his deputy. Pity."

He tensed up at his Uncle's words but kept his eyes on the floor. The sound of Belos' tapping fingers suddenly stopped.

"I'm losing my patience with you Hunter. So since you're clearly incapable of leading missions and doing what I ask now, I'll have the scouts do your job for you."

Hunter's eyes shot up immediately. "The scouts?"

"Yes, the scouts. I  honestly thought you would be happy at this. All of the responsibility of capturing the Silver Soldier is off your shoulders and given to the Emperor's Coven's best and brightest scouts. What could be better than that?"

Hunter stared at him in disbelief. How could he let this happen, of all things?

"Uncle, please-"

"You are dismissed, Hunter." Belos ordered in sharp tone. Hunter bowed his head quickly and hurried out of the room before something bad happened.

He ran into his room and locked the door, running a hand through his hair.

Hunter knew what the finest scouts were capable of, even though he was the best and brightest in the coven, since he was the Golden Guard. He trained them and taught them everything they know.

Y/N could be on every wanted poster in the boiling isles.

She'd be hunted down by everyone in the coven.

There were hundreds of scouts and other coven officials who served the Emperor.

And now all the control Hunter had before was just taken away.

He had to warn her.

Y/N's POV

The next day

You were reading on your bed when someone knocked on your door.

"Come in." You said as you closed the book.

Luz came into your room. "Heyyyyyyyy, wanna explore Bonesborough with me and King? I think it could help get your mind off things."

You had a close very encounter with five scouts yesterday and you stayed in your room since then. But you could use the fresh air and you would probably be okay.

"Sure, there's no reason not to."

You put the book down and grabbed your staff, before you followed her and King out of the house. You three traveled through Bonesborough for a bit as you checked out the various shops, attractions, and restaurants.

King tried to create a army of stuff animals in one of the stores, before realizing none of it wasn't free. So he tried to steal all of it but you and Luz stopped him.

And to make him happy, you bought all of them for King. Now you three would be going home with 15 small plushies.

Luz was telling you and King some jokes and all of you were dying laughing. It was a pretty fun day so far.

Then you saw one shop out of the corner of your eye. It was a palismen food stand, selling a bunch of crabapple claws on sale today.

P/N needed more food so you went up the stand. After you exchanged some snails for a bag of crabapple claws, you turned around.
