"You have to get up some time, you shit."
It was a gentle whisper into your ear from your beloved. Odd how 'you shit' could sound so comforting.
You stirred a small bit but you didn't get up nor did you open your eyes. It was still very early, early even for a Survey Corps soldier. But you had slept enough.
You were lying in a fetal position. You slowly opened your eyes, trying to not get scared of the fact that you were greeting darkness. The murky waters consumed you; relentless, ebony shadows plagued you, haunted you.
Levi noticed your furrowed brows and pout, indicating your distress. While you lost your sight, everything else was heightened.
This brought about a few difficulties for Levi, for he never showed much emotion and affection. But if these helped you focus, if these helped you recover mentally, then he'd be willing to do anything and everything.
The raven haired man was laying beside you, on his side so he could see you. He brought his thumb to your hand, smoothing over the silver band on your ring finger. You flinched a bit, your ears perking up, suddenly aware of his hot breaths landing on the back of your neck. You turned your head around, looking directly at him, even though all you could see was darkness.
His heart skipped a beat upon looking at your dull, milky eyes. The colour, determination and will was sucked up, along with a sense.
He knew your heart had shriveled up, how almost misanthropic you had become as of late. While he understood and gave you time, he was beyond worried. He missed the life in yourself that had been wiped away, snatched up and destroyed by the hands of those angry beasts.
For a long time, you showed no happiness; nothing. You missed the sights, people's smiles, the greenery of the nature around you, the excited Hange's look when she discovered something.
It was still the same though.
You didn't talk much, eat much or do anything.
It was so painful, you missed your sight. You missed bring able to look into your friends' eyes, or being able to navigate your way around.
You missed the way your husband looked at you. He, too, missed the way you look at him.
"Hey, I know you're angry at this turn of events..." Levi whispered.
Your eyes clamped shit again. Your teeth chattered against each other.
"But you're really worrying me..." he told you.
This was a side of Levi you were never going to see with your own eyes. He was more careful with his words lately and you appreciated it.
But it wasn't enough.
The silence that ensued between the two of you was starting to annoy Levi.
"[F/n], stop this," he scolded, his voice kept in an undertone. "It's been almost-"
He stopped.
He immediately stopped once he heard a whimper, followed by a sniffles. This was the last thing he wanted to do. He never wanted to be the cause of something like this.
"I-I'm sorry, Levi," you cried, profusely. "I'm so sorry."
You brought your hands up to touch the plains of his face. The curve of his nose, his angular jaw, silk-like hair and the frowns under his eyes. Levi gaped at you for a moment.
It was finally all coming out...
"I miss you... I miss you so much, I miss everyone," you sobbed. You moved your hands lower to clench his wrinkly shirt. "Why did this have to happen-?! Why did I have to lose you-?! Why was I so stupid to let this-!"
"[F/n]!"
You were interrupted not only by his scolding but when cold hands cupped your own.
Your whimpers ceased for a few moments before unintentionally continuing. He inhaled softly before pulling you towards his chest. "That's enough, now,"
His thumbs grazed over her knuckles and he let his forehead rest against yours.
"...I never want you to say something like that again, understood?"
He eventually wrapped his arms around your back. You continued to cry into his chest until your muscles fell slack. Once he presumed you had stopped, he spoke again.
"This was not your fault, idiot," he muttered. "How could you be so dense?"
You pulled away for a moment and looked in his direction. With his fingers, your face dipped into the correct direction. He used that hand's thumb to get rid of any tears that stained your cheeks.
He held you tightly once again, stroking circles into your hips and the small of your back. At first, all you could do was swallow your negativity and listen to the sound of his voice and focus on his deft touch against your skin.
"Besides, you have me," he told you, softly. It was clear that he wasn't all too comfortable with all of these comforting words for his words were hard to understand from time to time. "I'll guide you, and..."
You smirked as to how he had to stop talking. He hissed a sigh.
"You get the idea."
This is the Levi you will never see. This Levi, while still appearing to be harsh to others, it was the opposite to you and only you. This was a Levi who gave you his undivided attention when the two of you were alone.
After your little outburst, exhaustion quickly consumed you thereafter. Levi noticed how your breaths became a wee bit shallower. He planted a kiss to your forehead before grimacing.
"You need a bath, you stinking brat..." he grumbled. "It smells like you haven't bathed in centuries."
"I can still hear you." You muttered, eyes still closed.
"You were supposed to." He grumbled back.
