"Yeah, besides being good-looking, that's a positive answer," Scarlett replied, her words dripping with playful sarcasm. Tristian's face fell, his hopes deflating like a punctured balloon, as he let out a disappointed sigh.
Just then, Lucas chimed in, "I think you'd want to re-answer his question." Tristian didn't catch Scarlett's response, but the boys' reactions spoke volumes. They exclaimed something that left Scarlett shaking her head in wonder, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she gazed at them with a mix of amusement and incredulity. Her eyes sparkled with mirth, as if she couldn't believe the audacity of their words. Tristian's curiosity was piqued, wondering what had been said to elicit such a reaction from Scarlett.
Tristian listened attentively to her next answer, he didn't want to miss anything she would say next.
Tristian's ears perked up as he caught Scarlett's next words, and a wide, radiant grin spread across his face, illuminating his features like a sunrise. His mom, sitting in his room, couldn't help but shake her head in amusement, a knowing glint in her eye. She recognized the telltale signs - her son's face rarely lit up like that unless someone or something had truly captured his attention.
Tristian, a man not easily swayed by flattery, found himself unexpectedly fluttered by Scarlett's compliment. It was as if he had regressed to his high school days, reliving the thrill of his first kiss from a crush. His heart skipped a beat, and he felt a spring in his step, his mind replaying Scarlett's words like a sweet melody.
"Maybe those two rascals were right after all," he thought, a sly smile still plastered on his face. The possibility that Scarlett might see him in a different light sent his heart racing with excitement, and he couldn't help but wonder what other surprises lay in store.
"As you handed me my phone, I couldn't help but notice the most genuine smile I've ever seen on your face," his mom observed, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "The mere thought of that young woman brings you joy, despite being a stranger. You're positively radiant, Tristian!"
Tristian's cheeks flushed slightly as he acknowledged his mom's words, his voice laced with a mix of excitement and trepidation. "I...I...just feel elated for no reason. But what if she doesn't want to be with me? I mean, she's just walked out of a relationship, and here we are, planning to woo her." His words trailed off, his mind racing with the uncertainty of it all.
Despite his reservations, Tristian couldn't deny the inexplicable connection he felt with Scarlett. Her presence had awakened a spark within him, leaving him feeling hopeful and alive. As he stood there, his heart continued to race with anticipation, his thoughts consumed by the enigmatic Scarlett.
"That's great then, you just have to find a way to get close to her," his mother suggested.
"I think it won't work out. I'm sure she might even despise the idea of getting married when the man she loves has abandoned her during their wedding which I don't know how she is taking it or feeling about," Tristian said to his mother in a low tone.
"I don't think you have to worry about that because the boys got you covered," his mother said with a smile which caused him to look at her in confusion.
"You will see soon," she said while getting to her feet.
"I will go check on the cooks to see if they need any help with the food," his mother said before walking out, she shut the door behind her while she did so.
Tristian sighed softly walking towards his walk-in closet.
After Scarlett was done helping the boys with their bath she also took a warm bath herself under the influence of both mischievous boys. Now here she's standing with only a bathrobe wrapped around her without knowing what to wear.
