Eli freed Rage and led him to the cabinet, where their injured soldiers were cared for by physicians and nurses.

In front of Scarlett, in a big, magnificent office, sat four men with dark hair, including Eli. The interior of the office was warm and dark, defying their comprehension as to how it could be.

With her eyes darting through the open window, Scarlett received a chorus of "Yes ma'am" in reply. A smug hum emerged from Scarlett.

Eli chastised his companion, "Shut your mouth, Jay," but it did not stop Jay from questioning their supervisor.

"Yes, I agree that you ought to discuss it. Another man spoke out, his dark blue eyes wide with curiosity tumbling deep within. "You have been uptight ever since you got here," he said.

The other two gave him a ferocious gaze as Eli said, "June," his tone full of subliminal caution. June and Jay were waiting for their boss to confide in them, and they were giving their full attention to her.

"It is okay, Eli," Scarlett sighed, knowing full well that by remaining silent, the two men would have to find out the information on their own.

"All right?" June's eyebrows shot up, his voice hinting at impatience as five sets of eyes locked on Scarlett.

"I am starting to become annoyed with his ex-wife. Originally, I intended to talk to Tris so that she might be involved in the boys' lives. In reality, I did talk to him, but things did not work out. I am preferred over her by the boys."

It is a good thing, right? Jay questioned.

With a harsh retort spilling out of her mouth, Scarlett grimaced "Yes and no." She takes offense at it. Not only was she abducted that same night that the boys and I were attacked, but she is also attempting to subtly meddle in my nearly a-year-old marriage. He ignored my more than 10 attempts to reach him since he was too busy trying to save her. It was my second slaughter, and I was unhappy that I had to kill fifty men by myself." 

"Did you scowl just now?" June inquired with amusement, while the rest fought back a snicker except Eli, whose expression was homicidal.

"Is that all you have to say?" Scarlett questioned angrily, her words just making the four men smile, their different shades of eyes tumbling with wonder as they would never see this side of their boss lady before.
