I decided to start walking to school with some of the other kids. Tee, Johnny, Toby, Liam, Frank and I all went to the same school. Liam and Frank were always driven to school because of something that happened a while ago and I usually took the bus. I never really noticed any of them around school until I moved to elm tree but we didn't talk to each other much at school (besides Liam and I). If I saw Tee or Toby around school we'd nod, Johnny would just ignore me but I was fine with that.

I sat with Jamie in Spanish and I was rubbing my forehead. I was in a pissy mood and I know Jamie could tell because he was trying to make me laugh. Jamie and I have been friends since we were in nappies, we lived on the same estate and my dad went to school with his mum. We always told people we were cousins even though Jamie was dark-skin and I was a light-skin.

I yawned and rubbed my forehead. I'd been gazing out the window at nothing in particular. Nobody was listening to the cover teacher and everyone was mucking about, it was driving me nuts. Usually I'd be all for it but today I wasn't. The cover teacher was trying to get everyone to calm down and stop talking. "Oi, you alright?" Jamie asked me, hitting my thigh to get my attention.

I snapped out of my gaze and turned to him, "I'm alright, just tired." I said, I reached into my bag and took three large gulps of my lucozade.

"Ay! Your not allowed to drink that!" A boy called Peter shouted out loud at me, I shoved my drink away and glared at him.

"Shut the up, man, stop taking the piss." I mumbled, loud enough for the cover teacher and Peter to hear.

"Don't use that kind of language in this classroom." he snapped, "I'm sending you out."

I shook my head and could not be bothered with this, I kissed my teeth and gathered my stuff. "You walking out again?" Jamie asked me.

"Yes, man, this teachers a dickhead. I can't be bothered today." I told him.

"Fairs. Ina-bit." He spudded me and I left the classroom, slamming the door. I heard some jeering but then heard Jamie backing me and I smiled a little. I strolled down one flight of stairs and dipped into the girls toilet. I checked my hair in the mirror and washed my face. Gina said she would try find time to do my hair for me this weekend, I was holding out hope because I didn't like my natural hair very much. I pulled out my phone and began tapping a message to Tracy to see if she could come get me.

I stopped and shoved my phone away as I heard someone sobbing in a toilet stall. I thought I was alone. "Hello?" I asked. I knocked on the closed stall, "You alright?" I asked.

I heard a muffled, "No."

The door was unlocked and I opened it to reveal Tee sat against the stall wall hugging her knees with her face in her hands, she was crying heavy sobs. Her bag was chucked aside and the sleeves of her blazer were wet. She looked up at me with a red face and puffy eyes. "Tee? Whats wrong?" I asked in a soft voice, shutting the door and crouching down in front of her.

Tee coughed and looked at me, "T-this girl, called Megan, said I was s-short and ugly and she told everyone that I was dating Johnny even though he's my brother." She explained.
