LIAM'S POV:
I woke up with a start as Jack chucked a cold glass of water at me.
"Your gonna be late for college, again." Jack told me. "I'm leaving in five minutes." Shit. I recently started at the community college and I've been late everyday. I've been too busy dreaming about becoming a mega music star. That's what Jack said anyway.
My name is Liam O'Donovan. Now, some people like to write stuff down. Me, I'm going to record it all on here. Now, one day you're gonna wanna know how I started and where I'm from. Well, this it. This is my story so far.
I've been living with my brother for a few years now. I'm at college tryna be a plumber. His idea, not mine.
"Liam." My teacher called at me. I'd been dozing in his class. "I want you to come up here and show everyone how to replace this washer." I sighed and reluctantly got up and stood at the front. I picked up a wrench and started. "Now, is there anything you need to do in preparation?"
"No, it's cool. I've got this." I told him. As I pulled the wrench away, water squirted up into the air. Everyone ducked away and covered their heads. My teacher grabbed the wrench and stopped the water.
"First rule of plumbing. When fixing a leak..."
"First turn the water off." Everyone chanted back.
Yeah. Well... what did you expect? Do I look like a plumber to you? So, this is my college and, well, I'm the most popular guy here. I shut my locker and then came face to face with the guys from my plumbing class.
"Why do you bother?" Stevie asked me.
"Back off, Stevie, yeah?" I said to him.
"The only reason your here is because Dave's mates with your brother."
"I'm actually going places. See, this time next year I'm-"
"-unemployed and sponging off your brother." Stevie finished for me, I glared at him. Then he pushed past me and walked off, his mates following him.
I was sat on the floor in front of my locker when I heard a girl singing. It was probably the most beautiful voice I ever heard. I got up and brought my cam corder with me. I lingered by the music room and looked around the door. I couldn't see their faces but one girl was sat at the piano singing and another was with her. I recorded her singing and once she finished, I heard a voice speak. A very familiar voice.
"Damn, Poppy, that was great." The other girl said. Where have I heard that voice before?

Hearing her singing, it just took me to another world.
I put the camera down as Jack came into the kitchen. "So, come on, spill." He said to me as he put the kettle on.
"What you going on about?" I asked him, confused.
"I haven't heard a peep out of you since yesterday." Jack said.
"It's nothing."
"So what's her name?" Jack asked me.
