_GRANDAD_
•••
EVIE'S POV
•••It was a little early in the morning and we were all crowded around the kitchen Island looking at Frank's fish bait. He was going fishing with his Grandad for his birthday.
"Can I pick one up?" Tee asked referring to the worms.
"No, Tee, don't!" Carmen said, panicky.
Frank smirked, "Go on."
"What's going on, guys?" Elektra asked coming in. Liam smirked and poured the bait into a cereal bowl.
"Frank's going fishing." Gus said.
"Fishing? Isn't that for old people?" Elektra asked, sitting down at the table.
"There is an old person, Frank's grandad is 79. And its his birthday today." Said Gus.
Liam walked around the Island carrying the bowl of fish bait. He waited for Elektra to turn around before swapping her bowl of rice crispies with the bait.
"Every year on his birthday, they go to their special like." Gus continued.
"Sounds boring." Elektra said.
"Good thing you're not invited then." Frank said. I snickered at him then went to stand beside Liam.
"Last year they caught three perch, two sticklebacks and a dead frog." Gus said.
Elektra picked up a spoonful of the bait, "Mmm. Fat ones, my favourite." She put it close to her mouth and we all thought she was going to eat it but then she shoved it into Carmen's face, "You first!"
"No!" Carmen yelled, moving her chair back and jumping up.
"I insist! Come on, they're good for you. " Elektra said offering it to Tee, Liam and I laughed.
Then Gina came in and took Frank to the office. He was gone a little while then Liam and me heard Frank yelling and stuff being thrown. We exchanged looks and then ran out to see whats was going on. Frank was in full stress mode, we'd never seen our friend in this state before and it was heartbreaking.
"What's happened? What you done?" Liam asked as we saw Mike run up the stairs. We ran after him.
When we got to Frank's room, he was chucking stuff in our direction.
"Get out! Go on! Leave me alone!" He shouted.
"What's going on?!" Liam asked once more when we were outside of Frank's bedroom.
"Liam, Evie, leave it." Mike said.
"No, just tell us what's going on!" I insisted.
"He needs some space." Mike told us.
•••
We eventually found out.
Frank's Grandad had passed away and they had the funeral without him. That was even more heartbreaking. Frank was the only family his Grandad had. How could they do the funeral without him?
