It was the day Buck went back to his therapist. Both TK and Carlos had agreed to join him since he wanted to read the letter his mother sent him. Buck was nervous. He had finally been improving with his mental health, but he was afraid that the letter would set him back. He needed to know what was in it. The letter had been burning a hole in his pocket since it first arrived.

"Good to see you again, Buck. Same to you, TK, and Carlos. Now, the last time we spoke, you had been more open with your teammates. Has this been helping you?" Dr. Prescott asked. "It has. I've been doing better. But...I received a letter from my mother a couple of days ago. I haven't opened it yet as I was waiting to do it here."

"I see. Would you like for me to read it, or you?" She asked. Buck looked to TK and Carlos before turning back to Dr. Prescott. "I want to read it. I need to see what she wrote." Dr. Prescott nodded and grabbed her journal before turning her full attention toward Buck. "You can open it when you want."

Buck took a deep breath before opening the letter and unfolding it. It was in his mother's neat handwriting and it wasn't terribly long.

'Evan,

You have always been a trouble maker. Showing out in that station and having us arrested was just one of your tantrums. You will realize that you need us. We taught you to behave and we know that it has not left. When you are ready to apologize, you can come home and say it to us.

The address is the same as on the front of the envelope. Do not bring your...flames...with you. We have supported you through a lot, but we do not support this lifestyle.

You will also apologize to your sister and talk with her.

I'll be expecting a letter back.'

Buck had finished reading the letter out loud and had set the paper down before looking back at Dr. Prescott. She was jotting something down. TK had grabbed his hand and Carlos grabbed the other. He hadn't realized that he was shaking when they did. "Buck, do you want to contact your parents again?"

"No, I don't want anything to do with them. They have made my life a living hell."

"You know that you are not obligated to answer the letter or contact your sister?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Good. Now...how did that letter make you feel?"

His appointment lasted for another hour before they left. TK had persuaded Carlos into taking them out to eat and so they were heading to a restaurant. It had been since they first got together that they went out to eat. Carlos sat across from TK and Buck this time. TK was pressed up against Buck and was sharing a menu with him. Carlos took a quick picture of the two before looking at his menu. The waitress had come over and taken their order and brought their drinks. She had kept staring at Buck a little too long for TK's liking. "Buck, have I ever told you that you have very pretty eyes? The color really pops with your hair color." TK blurted out, grabbing Buck's face. The waitress blushed and left quickly.

"Not that I don't like the compliment, but what was that about?" Buck asked

"I did promise to pull the jealous boyfriend act when someone was flirting with you when Carlos did it. Now was my chance. I didn't like her staring at you like that." TK pouted before Buck kissed him and went to drink his water. Carlos chuckled at the two. They always acted like this. It made Carlos' heart swell.

Their food arrived and they talked a little while eating. They decided to not end the day there and went to a park. It was a sunny day, why waste it inside when they could be outside, enjoying time together? Buck put TK in the middle of him and Carlos while they walked. A couple of people would stare at them, some judging and some smiling. It was Texas after all, not everyone had been accepting.

On their way back to the car, someone had stopped them. "You must be ashamed of yourselves. Proudly sinning around young eyes. Have you no self-control?" The woman asked. Buck had immediately backed up while Carlos had stepped forward. "Ma'am, please let us through. We are just spending time outside."

"No. You are proudly promoting the Devil's work."

TK stepped forward and stared at her. He couldn't do much because of his shoulder, but he could do whatever it took to keep his partners safe. "Ma'am, we won't ask you again. Just let us go to our car and we will be out of your hair."

She turned and walked to Buck. "Don't let them fill you with their lies. Go while you still can. Don't fall into their trap." And with that, she left. Carlos grabbed TK and Buck and drove them home. Buck went straight to his room and laid on his bed. "Buck? What did she say?" TK asked.

"The same things my parents basically told me when they first found out I dated more than one person and the same gender. That you were filling me with lies and it was a trap. Why can't people just accept us for us? Is that too hard to ask?" Buck whined before smashing his head into his pillow. TK laughed and flopped onto Buck's bed while Carlos sat down. "It's Texas and people are still conservative. But there are a lot who support. Take 126 and my station for example." Carlos said. Buck nodded and shut his eyes. He wanted to sleep. Carlos saw this and let TK and Buck rest. He needed to get ready for the nightshift anyways.

Buck didn't feel good about what that woman had said, but he didn't let it bother him too much. TK and Carlos would never do that to him.
