TK and Carlos arrived twenty minutes later and found Buck sitting on his hospital bed, thinking hard about something. When Buck heard them enter the room, he turned to them with a teary smile. "I remember you two now. My loves. I'm sorry I forgot," was the first thing he said to them. TK walked over to him first and sat down behind Buck, hugging him from the back. "There's no need to be sorry, B. You couldn't remember because of an injury. It's not your fault. We still love you". Carlos came over next and sat on the foot of the bed, patting Buck's leg. "What Ty said, we still love you and we alway will". Buck let out a watery laugh and kissed TK before pulling Carlos into a kiss. "I'm so happy to have you two with me. I don't know what would happen if you two weren't here," Buck said.
They talked for a few hours, about things Buck has missed being in the hospital and what he remembers. The topic seemingly came around to if he remembered why he left L.A in the first place. "In all honesty, I don't remember why I left. I just know it had something to do with Bobby," Buck explained. TK and Carlos looked at eachother, talking through the silence. "Guys?" Buck asked, when neither of them had said anything. Carlos grabbed Buck's hand and started to explain. "Buck, Captain Nash didn't treat you nice after you came back from being injured. He and Maddie had tried to keep you from becoming a firefighter again. You found out he had lied to the board and sued the station". Buck stared at Carlos and TK with big eyes. "But why did he try to stop me? Bobby knew firefighting was the only thing I had in life."
TK spoke this time, "Buck, he didn't want you to be a liability to the team because you were on blood thinners. I, for one, believe it to be a bunch of bull considering you were willing to come back and you knew all of the risks. He tried giving you desk work, which would not have been healthy being on blood thinners". Buck nodded along with what TK was saying, taking the information in. It had been much better to accept the fact now that Buck had started to remember. "So, after he mistreated me, I left. I came here to the 126?" TK nodded and grabbed his phone, which had pictures of the whole crew. "Do you remember their names?" Buck stared at the photo, taking a minute to look at it. "All but one. The one with short, white hair."
"Buck, that's Winter. They are your best friend at the 126 and would do anything for you. In fact, after your mother came here and you ended up in jail, they bailed you out." Buck looked at TK but all he could see was the jail cell he had been in earlier that year. He remembered Winter coming in and driving him to their apartment. They had been the reason he got back with TK and Carlos. "I remember now. It was after we had a falling out." TK and Carlos cringed at the memory before confirming what Buck had said.
Buck saw the moment they had argued, it was the day they came back from fighting the wild fires. Buck had asked TK if he should send a letter to his mother, not telling him that he already had. TK had blown up at him for even suggesting it and said somethings that really hurt. Buck had left for sometime and ended up in jail after his mother claimed he was harassing her. Carlos had been the arresting officer. That was when he knew how Eddie felt when he was arrested, not being able to call Buck to bail him out. "Shit." TK and Carlos looked at Buck, "What?" They asked. "I got to call Eddie and tell him. Tell him that I remember." TK handed Buck the phone and Buck instantly called Eddie.
"Buck?" A groggy voice answered. "Hey Eds...were you sleeping? It's only 1 pm." A chuckle could be heard through the other line, "Chris kept me up all night. He isn't feeling good. What's up?" Buck took a deep breath before saying, "I remember Eddie. I remember why I left and what happened." Eddie didn't answer right away, leaving Buck to worry that he had been too late. "I'm glad Buck. Once Chris is feeling better, we will come see you. Even if you are already out of the hospital." Buck smiled, though Eddie couldn't see it. "I can't wait Eds. I want to see my superman again." Eddie was about to reply before Buck heard the sound of someone throwing up over the phone. "I got to go Buck, we will see you later."
"Take care, Eds." Eddie hung up and Buck sat his phone down. "Wait...if the station was blown up, then how are we going to work?" Buck asked, looking at TK. TK rubbed his neck and answered, "We are being split through the stations. The paramedics, Winter and I included, were sent to a private EMS center. Paul, Marjan and Judd are at the same station and Mateo was sent to a different station by himself". Buck noticed that he didn't mention anything about Owen. "And your dad?" He asked
TK sighed and Carlos answered for him, "Off the grid with Buttercup. We don't really know where he is, nor can we get in contact with him. They've just been doing their own work." Buck was shocked, he thought Owen would have been around to help his team. He noticed that TK looked upset and gently leaned back into him. "It's ok, T. I'm sure he won't be there long. Besides, you've got us. We will help." TK laughed. "We are supposed to be the ones comforting you, B, not the other way around."
Buck gave him a toothy smile. Just as they got finished chatting, the doctor walked in. "Good news, Mr. Buckley. Now that your memory has been restored, we are able to send you home under close watch. No stressing yourself and no heavy lifting for a few weeks," The doctor said, handing him a clipboard to sign out. Buck handed it back and TK handed him a bag. "We packed some clothes 'cause we thought you'd be able to go home. Go change and we'll leave here and get actual food."
It didn't take long for Buck to get dressed, and in a matter of minutes, he, TK and Carlos were out on the road heading to the Ma and Pa cafe down the street. Buck was happy to be back and TK and Carlos were happy to have their other part back.
