Chapter 16- Buck, Always The Disaster Magnet

 Buck had been in L.A. for almost a week now and finally, he was able to hangout with Taylor. Eddie had to go back to the station two days before and Buck was left alone inside the Diaz house. Both Lily and Taylor had the day off, so he invited Lily to hang out with them. That morning, Buck and Lily went to pick Taylor up and went to go watch the new Thor movie. Everything had been going so perfectly. So perfect enough, that the universe decided to curse them.

About an hour into the movie, Lily got up to use the restroom and Taylor went with her. About 5 minutes after they left, the movie stopped and the emergency lights came on. "Attention please. We are experiencing a little malfunction. Please make your way to the nearest emergency exit. Again, please make your way to the nearest exit." Everyone had started to walk to the exit calmly before they heard sounds that sounded like something was crumbling. Then a loud crashing sound was heard outside. All of the people inside the room started screaming and running to get to the exit. Buck, the fireman he is, decided against leaving yet. Lily and Taylor were still inside and he needed to find them. Buck also remembered that the 118 was the closest to the movie theater but was close to 15 minutes away, so he had to do his best to make sure those who were hurt were triaged for the 118. It was hard getting to the entrance of the room, but Buck forced his way through and was immediately met with smoke and dust. "Taylor! Lily! Can y'all hear me?" He called out. The shrill sound of the alarm made it hard for Buck to hear anything, but he could hear someone calling out.

He tried to make his way to the restrooms, but the rubble blocked him from his destination. It was at this moment that Buck decided to look up. The roof of the theater had fallen in and was still caving in. The shrill ringing was starting to get too much for Buck, but he needed to find Lily and Taylor. He started to move the rubble around and was able to climb over it. Many people were still in here and they were trying to get out, but the doors weren't opening due to them being powered by energy which the theater currently did not have. Buck spotted the bathrooms and ran over to them. "Lily, Taylor. Are you guys here?" He called out. He was getting ready to leave when Taylor came out. "Buck, I dragged Lily in here. She was struck by one of the tiles from the ceiling before it fell. I don't think it's bad, she's just been knocked out, but we need to get out of here before the rest of the ceiling collapses."

"Ok, I'll grab Lily and we will head to a movie room to leave through one of those exits. Tell everyone else to do the same. They are trying to leave through the main entrance." Buck told Taylor before making his way inside to grab Lily. She was laying there with a blood soaked cloth wrapped around her head. Buck lifted Lily out and met Taylor with a group of people outside the bathroom. They made their way to Movie room 3 and left through the exit. By the time they got out, the 118 had arrived. Eddie got out of the truck, and upon seeing Buck, ran over to the little group.

"Buck, what happened? Are you guys ok?" Eddie asked before stopping, seeing Lily in Buck's arms. Buck looked at Eddie and then looked down before responding. "Don't worry, Eds. She's just unconscious. She was knocked out by a ceiling tile. I think there are still more people inside though, under the rubble." Eddie nodded and had Buck follow him to the truck with the group. Hen grabbed Lily from Buck and started to assess her. Captain Murphey had the rest of the 118 go inside to do a rescue mission before the building collapses any more. "Buckaroo, I don't know how you do it, but you manage to bring disaster anywhere you go. Disaster Magnet Buck." Athena said, walking up to him and Taylor. The two laughed and Buck hugged Athena. "Thanks Mama 'Thena. I try my best." Athena chuckled and shook her head. "Seriously though, are you ok?" Buck nodded and explained what happened to her. Hen had finished looking over Lily and sat Buck and Taylor down to check them.

"Buck, am I going to have to get your boyfriends to watch you?" Hen said, shaking her head. "Shit, I gotta call TK. If he hears about this, I think the team would have to hold him back from coming down here." Hen nodded and finished their check ups before more wounded came. They cleared the building just as it started to cave in completely. Athena was interrogating the owner and the employees. Lily had woken up and Eddie had rode with her in the ambulance. Taylor was being interviewed by her work station. With everyone busy, Buck decided to call TK.

"You've reached TK. If I'm not answering the phone, then I am either working or sleeping. Please leave a message at the beep."

*beep*

"Hey TK. If you hear anything about a movie theater collapsing and see Taylor being interviewed, don't worry. Everything is ok. I'm ok. But I have learned about how much of a disaster magnet I am and have decided that I am not leaving Eddie's house until it is time for me to come home. Love you and Carlos! Bye."
