Two months ago, Buck was struggling to keep his head afloat. He had been physically and emotionally abused by Nash, his sister didn't want anything to do with him. He was on the verge of giving up. He was lost. Then, he called Captain Strand. He took the offer to join the 126.
One month ago, Buck was starting to feel at home. Everyone supported him and he supported them. His team grew to be a family to him. Judd was the eldest brother who had a rough exterior and a soft interior. Marjan was the female version of Buck during rescues and calls. Paul was his brother, someone he could trust not to tell anyone anything. Mateo was his youngest brother, who he helped study and taught interesting fun facts along the way. Owen was Owen, the father of one of his partners. Grace was the caring sister he needed.
Then, the 126 was sent to L.A to help after the dam broke. He came face to face with Nash, who had some very...interesting...things to say to Buck and his team. He shut down and let his body take him back to the pier. He laid in the water, hoping to die. Then he remembered Chris, TK, and Carlos and jumped out to sit on the beach. Carlos, TK and Eddie had found him like that. A day later, TK and Carlos asked him out. He was the happiest he'd ever felt. Until the trial.
A lot of things had come to light during it; Nash's mistreatment to the rest of A shift, the department having a sleazy lawyer, Eddie's problems and Hen's accident. Everyone had been relieved that Nash was found guilty, except for one. His sister had made a huge scene and had let out a family secret that she had been forced to keep.
Not even a week later, his parents arrived at the 126 as Maddie had called them and told them where Buck was. They shouted nonsense and his father had hit him in front of Carlos and his dad. That had led to the Buckley parents to be arrested.
That led to Buck sitting in the Strand residence, looking at a letter two weeks later. It was from his mother. Apparently, their lawyer was pretty damn good, because the address was from Pennsylvania instead of Austin. He knew he didn't have to open it. Hell, he even had the thought of throwing it away, but he couldn't find himself to do it. Carlos was in the kitchen and TK had finally been allowed to walk around the house, so he was laying on the couch with his head in Buck's lap.
"You know, you don't have to open it."
"I know, but...I was thinking of bringing it to my next appointment. Have Dr. Prescott read it or I read it there."
"That does sound like a good idea," Carlos called from the kitchen. He walked over and leaned over Buck. "Maybe, both of us could go with you this time. TK will be out of work for the time being and I can always rearrange my shift schedule."
"You don't have to do that, Carlos."
"But I want to."
Buck snickered and leaned his head up to kiss him. "This is why I love you. Both of you. Two months ago, I wouldn't have been able to even talk about any of my trauma, but both of you have made it easier. Thank you."
TK grabbed Buck to make him look at the former and patted his cheek, "Always Buck. We are going to help you no matter what. You're stuck with us". Buck laughed, "I'm glad I am."
