"Thank you Ms.Valance for having us over!" I managed to say, before mom and dad could say a word. "Of course dear, anytime you all are welcome to come over anytime!" "Thank you so much for everything Carol, tonight was lovely." My mom said, "Don't mention it!" Ms.Valance said, as if she had many visitors and neighbors over before. "It means a lot to us." Dad chimed in, "Any neighbor of mine is just as the same as a part of our family." Ms.Valance said, as she walked us all to the door as Cherry followed her mother. As we all stepped out the door I looked in front of me in the doorway to see Ms. Valance's hand on Cherrys shoulder, boy I bet when Cherry ages she's gonna look just like her mother. "It was lovely meeting you Sherri." My mom said, as she smiled ear to ear. "It was lovely meeting you too, Mrs.L/N and you too Mr. L/N." "Same here kiddo." Dad said, as he reached his hand out to Cherry's as she shook it.
"I'll see you tomorrow at school?" Cherry asked, with a tone of hope in her voice. "For sure, let's just hope I make it to the front of the school first and take it from there." I said, Cherry stiffled a laugh as she shook her head smiling. "You got a point L/N." "I'll meet you at your place at 7:30 on the dot." "Sound good?" "Sounds good to me Ms.Valance." I said, "Bye Sherri and Carol!" My mom said in unison as they began to walk away, I began to follow them. "Bye Ms.Valance, Bye Cherry see you tomorrow!" "Bye you three!" Ms.Valance replied, waving. "Bye Y/N, see you!" Cherry waved, as I watched both of them walk inside. "See, what did I tell you Y/N. You're gonna make lots of new friends here and trust me Sherri's not gonna be the only one. I have a feeling you're gonna make some great ones here." My express softened thinking about Katie. "Trust me I know it." My mom said, bringing me close to her side. "I think you're right mom." "I know I'm right [nickname]" Mom said, "Boy was that pasta good!" Dad chimed in.
After 5 awkward seconds of silence mom questioned, "Better than mine?" Dad then looked up at the sky and began to whistle. "Grow up [your dad's name]!" Mom said, as she parted from me to nudge him. We all began to laugh, before we knew it our vision came in view with the house we had just moved in to. Dad unlocked the door. "I'm gonna head in the shower, I've got a big day ahead of me tomorrow!" "Okay sweetheart I'll be in to tuck you in goodnight in a bit." I then began to choose my clothes for the night, I settled on a [favorite color] top, and [other favorite color] bottoms. I washed my hair the warm water felt lovely against my cold skin. I soon got out and began to brush and blow dry my hair. I put on my top and bottoms I had picked out earlier. I then laid on my bed as I picked up a gray little cat stuffed animal that was on it and held it close to me. "Sleepyhead?" I heard a voice say, as I saw my door slowly opening. I sat up and saw my dad ,"Hey dad!" "Hi Honey!" My dad said, as he sat on the end of my bed. My mom peeked her head through the door and knocked.
"You may enter!" "Why thank you Queen L/N" My mom joked, I laughed. Mom said next to dad I then laid back down as she brought the sheets up over me and tucked me in. She began to rub her thumb back and forth over my cheek causing my eyes to slowly close. "We love you kiddo." Was the last thing I heard my dad say, "I love you too." We're the last words that I whispered, All I know that night is that one I had finally made my first new friend here, Cherry. Two Tulsa would be my new home for the rest of my life.
