(James POV)
James stared around the dimly lit blood splattered room. The smell of it and fear was still potent in the musty air. Him and his wolf were quiet. Almost calm. He could still hear the mans screams and please of mercy. After his Cassi left the diner he vaulted in the room to find the grotesque human in fetal position on the floor. Grabbing his balls and whimpering. He had heard everything the man had said to her. He knelt down to the repulsive human's face and had said,
'Now let me show you just how bad I can get.' The sound of dishes clattering and objects being thrown around had muted the muffled screams of the man. In a blur too quick for the human eye, James had dragged the man to a nearby vacant building. It looked like an old office space. It was dark and empty besides office supplies, computer chairs, and desks strung about. It was perfect. The large man looked around wildly. Jane's could practically hear his thoughts. Trying to figure out how they got here. His human mind still trying to play catch up.
'Please.' He begged now terrified. 'Where are we? How did we get here? Who are you? What do you-'
James's fist connected to the other mans jaw. He heard a crunch then a few teeth clattering to the floor. Leon went to his knees in a pained gasp. Blood pouring from his mouth. Staining the front of his yellow shirt. James brought his fist up again and brought it back down to Leon's face. With another grunt Leon fell on to his hands. James felt his wolf tearing through. His fangs were exposed. His vision was in red.
'I've got a few question of my own.' James's voice was almost a complete growl. 'You think it's okay to touch her? Threaten her?' Leon weakly rolled himself on to his back and gasped up at James.
'What are you?' Leon choked in horror.
James showed all his teeth in a menacing smile. 'I'm the last face you'll ever see.' James bones started snapping. A growl bursts through his throat. Thick black fur covered his skin. He was on all fours now in front of Leon. Leon's eyes were huge in fright. He scrambled to his feet and ran toward the door. James jumped and landed on Leon before he could get ten feet away. Leon screamed and struggled to get away. James's mouth, now a full wolf snout went into Leon's neck. With one tear he ripped a chunk away. Blood gushed out. Leon in a shocked daze brought his hand to cup the wound. James opened his mouth on a snarl and ripped the arm clean off. Then the other one. Bit by bit until there was a bloody pile of limbs, bloodied torn fabric, cartilage, and bones. James wolf melted away and he was left crouching on the old carpet. He stood up on his now human legs. He was covered in blood. His clothes hung on him in just shreds. He was so angry he didn't think beyond this moment. That never happened. He was an alpha. It was his job to strategize. He was just so angry and wanted the vile creatures blood. James managed to find his cellphone. It somehow ended up in the pile of what was Leon. He called his brother.
'Did you score?' Teased Jonathan.
'I need a fresh change of clothes, a towel, a jug of water, lighter fluid, and some matches now.'
'Whoa. I get maybe the change of clothes but the rest you lost me.'
'Just do it brother! Meet me at this address quickly.' James looked on his phone the location and told his brother.
'Alright! Relax. Be there in a minute.' His brother hung up. James turned and faced the bloody pile. He gathered up the rest and waited. The sun was setting from what he could see through the pull down blinders on the windows and front door.
He had his driver leave him in the parking lot of the campus after he saw her turn the corner up the street. He followed Cassi to the restaurant. He saw her fall on her bike. Her bloodied knee made his protective instincts go on high alert. Her anger when the chain had come off. Her outburst was quite amusing. Adorable when she got angry. She reminded him of an angry cub trying to be big. But his instinct to go from across the street and comfort her was so strong. How he managed to stay there and just observe he'd never know. Seeing her about to cry was almost his undoing. He watched her go in and then counted to ten. He sat in one of the booths. Ordered some water and gave the waitress a hundred dollars to leave him alone. He focused and listened to them in the back room.
'It's simple. I need you to work tonight or you're fired.'
James shoulders stiffened at his mate being threatened. Even if it was a harmless one.
'Correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't you say you're already down a couple waitresses?' James smiled. His mate had common sense. Some humans seemed to lack that trait from what he saw.
'And?'
'Well it sounds like it would be foolish to lose another.' She could strategize. James ticked mentally off the list.
'Who is the boss here, Cassi?'
'You, but I think there was a mistake or someone was really stupid or desperate to put you in charge.' She was witty. The proud grin grew on James's face as he eavesdropped.
'You and that smart mouth. That looks like it hurts Cassi. Should I help you patch it up?'
Cassi? was that her name?
'Don't touch me, Leon. You and I both know I need this job. We both know you are short staffed and not in a position to be picky. So the way I see it, you keep me and you won't be in a worse situation. Besides you might be in more trouble then you think. Such as there seem to be a lot of girls working here. Pretty young girls.
It's funny that they all leave with in six months of working here. That screams faulty management, don't you think ? I wonder what the police might think of a little investigation. '
'You can't prove anything, little girl.' He could l heard the man, Leon's, confidence wavering. His heartbeat was speeding up.
'Oh no? I don't know if you've noticed, Leon. But we're all sick of your shit. It really wouldn't take much for us girls to get together and talk in front of a customer to set off a chain reaction of gossip.' His woman was an opportunist.
He heard a scuffle and then his mate whimper.
'And you are in no position to be a little b****. You little sluts better start showing me some respect. Keep your F****** mouth shut or I'll have to show you just how bad I can get.'
James was about to jump from his position before he heard a thud and then groan from the man.
'Would you like to know a secret, Leon? It's actually already set in motion. Me and some of the girls that quit have already made calls to corporal already. Your days are numbered on several accounts. Here and outside as well. You're looking at sexual harrassment, sexual assault, Labor laws, and last but not least theft. You honestly didn't think we'd notice that you were skimming from us on top of everything? You're in deep shit. If it's not obvious, I quit. But something tells me I'll be welcomed back when you're no longer here. This is the last time you put you're pervy hands on one of us.' She could strategize! She was perfect! He heard her open the door before saying in amusement,
'Need a tampon, Leon?' Before leaving. His wolf was lusting for the mans blood.
The sound of the door opening made James snap back to the present.
Jonathan came in and eyed the bloody mess before setting the box of supplies he was carrying at his brothers feet.
'Rough day, brother?' He teased. 'What did the human do to deserve your wrath?'
James picked up the jug of water from the box and the towel and cleaned himself up the best he could.
'He assaulted her. Threatened and mocked her!' James summarized as he put on the black track suit. He then picked up the lighter fluid and shook it over the pile of flesh before scattering it all over the room.
'She must be some woman to make you lose control like this.' In a matter of one day he thought of what he learned about his mate. She was beautiful, intelligent, fearless. She was strong. Absolutely perfect. The feelings she invoked in him was incredible.
'She is.' James answered simply as he lit a match and tossed it. The room went up in flames as the two men ran out the back door in to the alley. James's driver was waiting for them in now a black Lincoln navigator.
'What now James?' Johnathan asked while lounging back in the spacious back seat as the driver pulled away.
'Now,' James replied, ' I go take a proper shower and find my mate. Court her and convince her to come back to the fae lands with me.'
'And if she chooses not to? She's human, brother. She may not understand.'
James gave his brother an exasperated look.
'Were Vikings, brother. We take what we want. What is ours. Whether she agrees or not is inconsequential. She is mine.'
