Hello! Warning: A bit of sexual content ahead. ~

(Cassi POV)

It was frustrating. He seemed like a nice man but there was definitely something he wasn't saying. She couldn't shake the feeling. Why was he so interested I her? He could afford to eat in places like this, he claimed to own his own company, but was vague on what it was exactly. Mot that she had time for romance right now anyway. 'But he is hot.' Her subconscious reasoned with her. What if she had a one-night stand? Just throw caution...and her virginty to the wind and all. She never saw herself settling down and having the perfect family and all the trimmings that went with it. She did want that but just didn't see it. At the very least not for a very long time. Every time she confided in people about that they'd just say she was young. Plenty of time. Blah blah blah. But he'd be the perfect candidate for one night. She should enjoy herself a little while she was young, shouldn't she? She had to admit despite the red flags, every time he smiled or looked at her she felt warm. She had the instinct to grab him by the front if that crisp white shirt of his and kiss him with everything she had. She shifted in her chair. She had thought boys were cute before but this one was gorgeous. Sitting here and eating the beautifully arranged food with it's enticing aromas was difficult. Every morsel was like wood chips going down her dry throat. Maybe tonight she could let her guard down a bit.

'Dessert?'

She looked up from her wine glass to see him looking at her questioningly.

'No, thank you. I'm pretty tired.'

'Then let's get you home.' He stood and held out his hand.

'Are we going dutch?'

He stopped and looked at her. His brow furrowed.

'I'm sorry?'

'You know. As I pay half the bill. My half.'

He looked at her as if he was offended.

'No. I don't pay since I'm part owner and I would never expect a lady to pay.'

'That's a bit old fashioned, don't you think?

He smiled at her. 'I'm an old soul.'

He hooked her hand in the crook of his elbow and walked downstairs and into the fall night air.

Leaves danced infront of them on the sidewalk. The noise of the city was almost muted. It was a perfect night, she thought, for couples to go for a walk. She looked up at him. But he wasn't her boyfriend. She couldn't make it work if he asked anyway.

'Did you enjoy tonight?' His voice jarred her out of her musings.

'Yes I did. Thank you. I can cross, fancy dinner, off my bucket list.'

He chuckled.

'We could do it again, if you like.'

She looked down as they walked.

'No. We couldn't.'

'Why is that?'

She sighed. 'I don't have time right now in my life.'

'Your school?'

'Yes. Along with other things.'

He was silent

She glanced up at his face. He looked pensive.

The rest of the walk was silent. They made it to her apartment door.

'Well thank you for tonight...James. This was very nice.'

She fished out her keys in her purse then turned to unlock the door. Her upper arm was gripped in a firm hold. Before she could even open her mouth, his lips crashed against hers. He backed her against the door and kissed her with so much heat she was surprised flames didn't spark from their lips. Shock registered and then she found herself reciprocating. He took her hands and wound them around his neck. She could feel his heartbeat against her chest.   His tongue slipped into her mouth and slid against hers. She mimicked the best she could. She'd been kissed. But not like this. Heat and fire were engulfing her. A feeling of an electric charge was going through her. Their breaths turned into gasps. She was hoisted up against the door. He gripped her legs and wound them around her waist. He pressed his hips into her. The gasp that escaped her at the unfamiliar ache between her legs seemed to spur him on further. He groaned and then she swore a growl escaped him. A door being slammed next door brought her out of it.

'Wait.' She pushed at his shoulder and then scrambled to get down.

He set her down on her feet gently. His head was bent where she couldn't see his face. Her hands were resting on his forearms. One of his hands was gripping her waist and the other was against the door behind her head. His breathing was ragged.

'James?'

It seemed like a while before he raised his head and looked at her. He looked like he was trying to contain something. The look in his eyes was the look of a wild man.

'Are you okay?' She asked timidly.

He brushed her face with his finger.

'Maybe we should go inside?'

Her eyes widened. If they got that carried away outside they'd be animals inside. She didn't know what to do. She wanted it. Wanted him but at the same time she was terrified.

'I-I don't know...'

'I promise I'll keep my hands to myself. All we will do is talk.'

It was like making a deal with the devil. It was a bad idea but it was tempting. She bit her lip while trying to think rationally.

'All we do is talk.' She agreed while straightening up. She turned to unlock the door. They both stepped in. It was a tiny living room but cozy. A red sofa was against the wall. A brown rug was draped over the carpet. A Mahogony coffee table was in the center. A rocking chair to the side and a couple end tables were placed between. An old model tv was on an entertainment stand. Everything was second hand from thrift stores but it was cozy and clean.

She set her bag down on the coffee table and sat down on the couch. He walked and sat next to her. Despite his promise his hand trailed to her face and brushed hair off her forehead and tucked it behind her ear.
The small touch made her want more. She gripped his hand and pulled it down.
'You said just talk.' She reminded him.
He smiled. 'I'm sorry. Your like a moth to a flame. Irresistible.'
'Ok casanova. What should we talk about?'
He leaned in to her ear.
'How about how your pulse quickened when I get close? Or how your breathing becomes hitched? That if i touched you here,' His hand smoothed from her throat to lightly brush her breast. 'Your body reacts.'
While he was saying all of this her body was reacting in the same way he was describing. She bit her lip.
'I have to admit, I was thinking of using you as a one night stand.'
She felt him still and draw back. He had an unreadable expression on his face.
'But-' She pressed on. 'I'm not that kind of girl. Not that there is anything wrong with that choice or the people that make it. But I'm conflicted. I dont want a boyfriend but I'm not the hook-up type.' She went to babble on further when he kissed her. It was like the time before. it went from zero to ten in a second. Next thing she knew she was on her back. He was between her legs. After what seemed like minutes they drew apart. He was resting over her on his elbows. He toyed with a strand of her hair.
'What do you want out of life, Cassandra?'
The question threw her off gaurd. What did she want?

'Well...I'd like to finish school. Travel the world. Experience new things. What everyone wants, essentially I guess. To have a spectacular life.'
He seemed a moment went by before he answered.
'What If I said I could give you it all. You could see new things. To have a spectacular life. You would want for nothing. You could live like a queen.'
She laughed at that.
'Oh yeah? What's the catch, prince charming?' She was smiling at the thought of all the cheesy mafia movie scenes flashing in her head.
'Be with me. Stay by my side. Help me rule.' His face looked and his voice sounded serious. Her chuckle died in her throat. The smile slowly died away.
'Why are you looking at me like that?'
He sighed. 'Have you ever thought you may have a true mate. You call them soul mates, yes?'
She stiffened and eased back away from him on the couch.
'What do you mean?'
'I mean, do you believe somone is out there just for you. Created for you. You for that someone. Too spend forever with.'
She was starting to grow uneasy.
'Soul mate? No.'
His face grew dark.
'Have you ever seen or believed there are things you can't explain?'
Cassi stood up quickly.
'What the hell are you talking about?'
He stood too. Reaching out his hands to her in a peaceful soothing manner.
'I want to show you something. But I dont want you to be scared. I wanted to ease you in to this but time is short.'
'Show me what?' She stepped back from him.
He took another breath and closed his eyes.
Bright neon green eyes stared back at her. She hadn't imagined it before!
'What the hell?! How are you doing that?' At first she was dumbfounded. Then his canines started to grown.
She backed up further.
'Don't be scared of me, please.' His voice wasnt human anymore. Now it sounded almost like an animals growl.
She felt frozen. She couldn't even blink.
'What the hell are you?'
