Six months later…
(Cassi POV)
The kingdom was bustling and electric with vibrant energy. The celebration of the marriage of Rexton and Vincent was scheduled to start tonight. The original plan was for them to get married while in the human world. But they all felt it was a way to send a message to other couples. To let them know it was normal and okay. James had already gifted the restaurant to Rexton which he gladly accepted. Vincent was doing wonders in New York. His work was sought after by thousands. They also were delighted and honored to be named the godparents. They both were very good with Sam who had them both wrapped around his tiny finger.
Cassandra hurried through the streets. She selected some new fabric for a special treat for James. Smiling secretively to herself at the memory of the sexy dress she had made to spite him came into play. She'd have Nat, Madga, and Ezri help her again. She wanted to make a fresh start but yet still not dismiss the good times that happened.
Sam to her left made a cooing sound. Looking over she saw him in Lucas's arms while reaching out his little arms toward his grandmother.
Smiling wider she hurried and made her purchase.
'Are you making fools out of your pappy and grams?' She mock scolded him before kissing him on the nose. In return he just gurgled and grinned.
'Yes he is. But I like seeing your father like this.' Debbi admitted.
Lucas scoffed. 'I am not a fool. I'm just sacrificing my reputation and image to entertain my grandson.'
Laughing they made their way back.
The castle was like an enchanting orb of lights and music. Deborah and Lucas took Sam upstairs for his nap.
'Girls. Will you come help me?'
Nat and Madga both rushed to her from the kitchen. Ezri came from the library. Excitement in her eyes.
'Let's get you naughty little surprise underway. I planned to meet my future husband tonight!'
Shock registered on all three faces.
'What?'
Ezri grinned. 'Yeah. A cougar shifter is supposed to be here tonight to represent a new merger or whatever. And he's all mine. Just you wait and see.'
'You are his mate?'
'Yup! I saw this happening for a while now. I just didn't want to jink.'
'Okay spill on the way.'
They all hurried and began to work as Ezri explained about a vision of her and this shifter called Damien. He would be here tonight. Their eyes would meet under the fairy lit archway in the garden and he'd know.
'Congratulations, Ezri.' Natalie gushed.
'This is so great.' Madga chimed in.
The new masterpiece of seduction was a concoction of white satin with black lace over it. Form-fitting and short with a plunging neckline all the way to her navel.
'I think I want one now.' Madga sighed.
All eyes darted to her. She blushed.
'He may not be my second chance mate but I don't care. Me and the flute player, Sciro, is his name. We've been going out and…'
'Good news all around it would seem.' Cassi cheered.
Madga rolled her eyes. 'Come. We need to get you ready.'
(James POV)
His son was curled in his arms sucking his fist. His wide blue eyes taking in everything around him. His dark hair curling over his forehead in the misty air. The guests arrived and were all now seated in the garden.
He craned his neck at his seat on his throne on the stage. Where was Cassandra?
As if answering his question she appeared. Like a goddess floating toward him in an emerald green gown.
Grasping his hand she sat on her throne with grace. Rexton and Vincent were waiting at the front of the aisle.
James handed Samuel to Cassandra before descending to unite the two.
'Thank you all for coming. Tonight we celebrate two of our people to unite from this night and eternity. To protect and honor. To lead us in a new beginning. Do you both swear before this tribe and your people to live or die for one another? To uphold each other for the rest of eternity?'
'I do.' Rexton said grinning and Vincent.
'I do.' Answered Vincent. His face mirrored Rextons.
'In my power as Alpha I declare you both mated.'
Cheers erupted as Rexton and Vincent kissed.
Rose petals shot from the guests' hands as they made their way out toward the village where they would run so the rest of the town could bless them.
Turning he held his family to him.
'Promise me in fifty years when we renew our vows it'll be simple like this?'
She asked while laying her head on his chest.
'Whatever you want, love.'
Looking down he slowly absorbed her face in his sight.
'What are you looking at?' She chuckled.
Smiling he pushed hair behind her ear.
'Thank you.'
'For what exactly?'
'You have given me so much. Protected my people as well as me. You even showed my brother mercy by sending him off to the human world after you healed his sight.'
'Yes well he'll have the spirits to keep him company. Besides I wanted him as far away from you and Sam. But if he follows my instructions they should go away with the spell I cast.'
'How does that work again?' He asked while guiding her toward the party in the courtyard.
'When he finds his mate the spell will break. It's a matter if his mate is up to the task or not when that particular person is found.'
'Good luck to both. Now that I've found you Cassandra I wish everyone could feel this…joy. It is indescribable.'
Smirking she looked up at him.
'If we get our son to sleep early tonight, I'll show you something else that will make you speechless.'
