James POV)
They were both shackled to the two thrones in the ballroom. Front and center stage.
Vincent and Rexton were taken somewhere along with Johnathan.
The voices inside him were so quiet. Sated after the kill. He could feel their jubilation.
His head was low as he stared unseeing at the floor.
He heard the flute players playing a joyful tune around them as if he was in a tunnel. Witches, and werewolves danced and partied in front of them in a haze. His people were here too. Once were his servants. Now they were Ashias slaves. They all had the same dead glazed look in all their eyes.
Close to the same look he probably had in his own eyes right now.
He killed her. He killed Cassandra. His mate. His love. In addition, the product of their love. His unborn son. Samuel.
The memory of her still body on the cold floor was freeze framed in his mind. Her throat ripped out and flowing crimson blood pouring out. Her blue eyes wide.
Tears flowed from his own eyes and dripped onto his legs.
Lucas was silent and still next to him. James dared a glance at him. He looked old. Ancient. Sorrow and a look of defeat etched in his face. His hands, like James's, lay limp and shackled to the chair.
'Come now, gentleman. It's a party! No room for long faces here.'
Ashias voice grates on him. There the bitch stood. Dressed now in a long scarlet dress. Cassandra's dress. The dress she wore to spite him on the night he locked her up.
His hackles rose. How dare this vile creature wear her things. Taint them.
His anger seemed to rouse the voices into a frenzy. They wanted her now. He'd be happy to give her to them.
'I hope you enjoy yourself tonight. Because it will be your last time.' He heard himself say.
She just laughed softly.
'I believe that will be you. When the time comes, James, you will be the sacrifice that brings me and my pack to our full power.' She softly raked her long red nails through his hair before walking to Lucas.
'You, I'm afraid will go back to being a battery. The witches here were envious of your coven for so long. Then when you disappeared it was Sylvia's. They had no idea you were the prime source of their power. Had they known, I think they would have found a way a long time ago to get you for themselves.'
Lucas just sat there. Staring at the floor. Not reacting what so ever. He suddenly stiffened and gave a small surprised gasp. An even farther away look misted in his eyes. James didn't know who was more surprised, him or Ashia, when all of a sudden a booming laugh escaped him.
'I don't think so.'
'What was that, dear?' Ashia asked slowly, showing all her teeth.
He just laughed some more. 'I'm afraid the party is over.'
Before Ashia could interrogate further a hush fell over the room. Like the quiet before a storm. Everything became so still. In the next second the large double door entrance blasted open. A wave of power and light erupted through the room. It was as if a bomb went off. Sending everyone toppling down to the ground.
Glass shattered, the chandelier fell from the ceiling, screams of terror and surprise peirce the air. The walls and ground shook as if an earthquake was taking place.
James shielded his face with his hand as particles flew over the room In an explosion. Looking back he saw people scrambling around. He tried to see what was happening but people obscured his view. Looking at Lucas he was shocked to see a proud calm look on his face. Ashia rose slowly to her feet and was now turned away from them. James watched as she calmly walked down the stage with the skirt of the dress in her hand.
Once she reached the floor she shoved people out of her way as she made her way across the room.
He squinted but still couldn't see. What the hell was going on?!
To his surprise people started imploding around them. Blood smacked and painted the walls in every direction. Him and Lucas got drenched within seconds.
James struggled with his chains in the chair.
'What the hell is happening, Lucas?!' He shouted.
Lucas just laughed. His eyes, bright and full of glee. 'Oh, just the kids having some fun.'
Through the blood and gore flying around the room he then saw her.
He stopped struggling. Going completely still all he could do was blink.
She was standing in the middle of the room now. Where once there were over one hundred bodies occupying this room, now only a handful were left standing. Including Ashia, were now surrounding her.
Only this didn't look like her. It couldn't be! She was coated in blood. Deep beastly growls and snarls were coming from her chest and throat.
Claws were extended out of her fingertips. Fangs extended where her canines were. Her once soft blue eyes were now green and glowing. Cassandra.
