(James POV)

'You must kill her.'
'She won't save you.'
'She is not coming.'
'She can't help you.'
'No one can help you.'
'No one cares.'
'They are all weak cowards.'
'They all despise you.'
'They want to see you fall.'
Shaking his head to clear the voices was futile.
Every second he stayed suspended from the damned silver he tried to picture Cassandra's face. But it was as if each passing second it became dim. Then warped. Every memory he had with her. Every kiss, embrace, or any loving moment turned dark. Now he saw her with Rexton.
'The child she Carries is not yours.'
He shook his head again.
No. That was not true. Cassandra was faithful.
'Was she? Did you not catch them naked together in bed?'
No. That was a trick.
'Was it?'
Someone…someone set them up. Betrayed him.
Now he saw them both laughing and sneering at him as he was suspended. Opening his eyes he still saw them. Not just them. Sometimes he saw his gaurds taking turns torturing him. His people taunting him.
Why was Cassandra doing this?
Why wasn't she helping him?
She just stood there. Laughing as he bled from his wrists.
'It was their plan all along. To destroy you and steal what is yours.'
'No! It's not true!' He shouted out loud.
'Oh, but it is. Don't you see them now? Here they come.'
Opening his eyes he saw Rexton and Cassandra. Tears in her eyes.
'Tears of happiness.' The voices sneered.
'No!'
Johnathan was being dragged behind them.
He saw another figure behind them. His hackles rose when he recognized the face. Ashia.
'You found him! I'll let you two love birds be alone.' She cackled. With a loud clank the chains released him. He then found himself face down on the ground. He was free. Lifting his head he saw Rexton and Johnathan go crashing against the other side of the pit into the stone wall. He then watched as Cassandra flew and land on the ground next to him.
A stone wall built from the debris around them. Sealing them in almost complete darkness. Separating the group. Now in this small space was only him and Cassandra.
'Now is your chance. Do it!'
'No! I won't!'
'James…?' He looked over to see Cassandra pull herself up onto her knees. She embraced him and was pulling her into her lap.
Her touch quieted the voices for a second. For a brief wonderful second he knew peace. Then the voices reached a crescendo. He saw Cassandra's mouth move but couldn't even hear her.
'NOW! DO IT NOW! KILL HER! KILL THEM ALL!'
He fought it. He really tried. Curling tighter on himself he moved away from her.
'James. I know what's happening to you. We need to get out of here. I can help you. I have a way to save you.'
'Lies! It's a trick.'
Looking up again he could still see her through The cracks in the wall light shone from the otherside. He saw his Cassandra. Her eyes were pleading and held that stubborn fighting spirit he loved. Her left knee was bleeding through the ripped denim of her jeans. Focusing only on that he moved back to her.
'She is vulnerable. Now is your chance, you fool!'
'Cassandra…I…you are not safe with me. They….scream. They are so loud. They want me to hurt you.'
After a moment of silence he felt her hands cup his face.
'Fight them. Your son and I need you, right now.'
A whimper escaped him. Shocking him. Was that his wolf?
'I can't…they won't…'
'Damn you, James! You owe us both!'
Looking up in shock at her tone he saw her face change. This wasn't Cassandra.
Ashia?
Anger grew inside him. Pure unadulterated hatred flowed through him. They were right. This was a trick. More torture.
'You bitch!'
His hands went to her throat.
'I'll kill you just like I did your sister, you bitch!'
He watched as she just cackled.
Gripping her hair he brought her head back. She struggled.
He was confused for a moment. Why was she struggling. Why wasn't she fighting?
'Do it then, you coward!'
He needed no more encouragement from her.
Ripping into the side of her throat with his claws he felt her hot blood coat his hands. She was still. Her breathing heavy.
The voices were quiet. Smiling in triumph he dropped her on the ground and enjoyed watching her bleed out.
But to his horror he saw the black hair spread out on the stone floor slowly turn caramel blonde. The almost black eyes that were wide in shock and fear turned blue.
'NO!' He shouted in agony. He quickly scurried to her side on the ground. Cradling her in his arms he could still hear her heart beating faintly. Choking short pained gasps escaped her lips.
'This is just a dream. This is not real!' He shouted at the walls. Praying he'd wake up.
But still the weight of her body was still in his arms. Her hands cupped the side of her neck. Releasing her for a moment he ripped her shirt off and used it to hold pressure on her wound.
Blood soaked it in a matter of seconds.
'Love…' He sobbed.
The wall behind them burst in an explosion. Stone pelted his back shielding Cassandra.
Turning his head with Cassandra still cradled in his lap he saw Lucas, Vincent, and Rexton standing there. Lucas moved forward quickly. A pained sob tore through him as he looked down at his daughter slowly dying. Her choked gasps turned to almost silent whimpers.
Lucas sank down to his knees and tore her from James's arms.
He started chanting and holding her wound. Cassandra's eyes slowly sank shut before her tense body grew limp. The sound of her heart growing quieter and quieter
'No. Don't you dare give up! Open your eyes!' Lucas shouted.
Nothing in response. Lucas kept chanting.
They were all suddenly flung to opposite sides of the room. After a moment of disorientation James saw Ashia step in the center of them.
'Well isn't this quaint?' She spoke quietly. Cassandra's body was still lying on the ground.
'Oh no. Did you break your little love, James?'
'Don't you touch her!' He shouted.
Ashia looked at him.
'Tell me, how does it feel? Having someone you love ripped from you? How does it feel seeing their body mangled like this?'
A sob broke from him in response.
Ashia turned slowly around the room. Stopping on Lucas. She smirked.
'I know some witches upstairs would love to see you…Lucas, is it?'
Turning again she eyed Rexton and Vincent.
'You two will make excellent warriors.' She murmured as her eyes went around to Johnathan.
'You, I'm afraid, are no use to me at the moment. But, I think I'll keep you alive for now. One never knows.' Turning back to James she grinned.
'As for you, I'm not quite done with you yet. Shall we all go upstairs now? There's a little party and you are all invited. As a matter of fact, James, and Lucas will be the guests of honor.'
