James POV)

Four months later...

Sighing contently, he rolled over.
Pressing his face into his woman's extended womb.
The sun felt warmer these days. The air sweet and fresher. The grass they sat on in the woods, where they first made love, was lush and green.
Feeling their son kick at him made him chuckle.
'Yeah, laugh it up. I'd like to see how hard you laugh if your insides got the brunt of his acrobatics.'
Smiling wider he stroked her stomach.
'He's a playful, growing, strong boy. It's good he is so active, Love.'
He watched as she smiled wryly. 'Again. You tell that to my kidneys, rib cage, and all surrounding organs he likes to try and redecorate.'
Scooting closer he whispered,
'Go easy on your mother. She gets grumpy with daddy easier these days.'
Feeling his hair be pulled and his head be forced back, he had no choice but to roll over on his back and look at the love of his life.
'I wouldn't be so grumpy if I could at least see my own feet!'
Laughing he reached up to stroke her face.
'Don't worry, love. It's almost time.'
'Easy for you to say!'
'What can I do?'
Cassandra's face looked pensive before her smile turned wicked.
'There is something you can do.'
'Oh?' Sitting up he put his face inches from hers.
'What can I do? Tell me?'
Still smiling she leaned closer and whispered in his ear while stroking his chest and going lower.
'I…want-' She stopped to nibble then lick his ear. 'To…get…down…and…dirty-' She kissed his cheeks then his mouth. 'With some mint chocolate chip ice cream.'
He scowled. The little witch! He had a raging hard on and she just wanted Ice cream.
'You little tease!' He growled before pushing her back on the soft grass and hovering over her.
'Not very nice is it?'
Laughing, he kissed her.
'If you are referring to me not making love to you, it is for you and our sons' own good. You are too close now.'
'James.' Her voice was breathless and sultry. 'I hurt. All the time! There is not a woman on this planet that can be more sexually frustrated then I these past couple weeks.'
'Believe me, love. I know. I hurt for you too. Always. But we must be strong. I don't think our son will appreciate it if he has to come out too soon.'
She sighed before rolling her eyes.
'He is impatient. I can feel that.'
'You can?' She could feel his emotions?
'Yes. Lately why I've been so "grumpy" is because he is grumpy. I'm an extension to him right now. Visa versa.'
'When did you start feeling him?"
She shrugged. 'A little in the beginning. More so lately.'
'Why didn't you mention this?'
Stroking his hair again, her touch soothing.
'Because we both have been a bit busy of late. You and I, setting the council straight after they came crawling back to you.'
'To you, Cassandra. They want you on their side. After word spread of how powerful you are, to them you are a wonderful asset for them to call on.'
She scoffed. 'They weren't interested when they thought I was just a human. They don't get me without you. So we get to milk it for as much as we can.'
'Devious.' He chuckled before kissing her.
'Not to mention other factors we've been juggling. School is finally over for me at least thanks to the time difference between here and the human world.'
'Yes and I am so proud of you.' He kissed her wrist, which adorned a thin gold chain bracelet with a moonstone to match her wedding ring he gave her for her graduation.
Their wedding was held a couple days after the events of the extraction of the spirits and the massacre of the shifters and witches.
'I won't wait any longer!' He told her firmly in bed one night. 'One thing we have learned from this is that we are better together then apart.'
'I couldn't agree more.' Her eyes glowed as her legs wrapped around his waist.  'Are you going to pin me down to the bed all night or show me who's alpha?'
The wedding was surrounded by their people. Their family. The ceremony short and simple with enough food and festivities to last for weeks.
The honeymoon was short but sweet. Three glorious weeks of them exploring everywhere Cassandra could fit in. To the Lacandon Jungle all the way to the amazons. At nights they'd stop anywhere. Whether it was a five star resort or underneath the stars, neither minded. They were too ravenous for one another.
'Also,' Cassandra went on breaking his fond train of thought 'After we cleaned up the literal mess after the figurative mess Ashia and her clan created, we had to calm down our people after they woke from the mind control spell Ashia had placed on them. Poor Madga and Natalie won't stop apologizing even though I keep telling them they did nothing wrong.'
'All things take time to heal. Even here.'
Sighing he watched as she rested back on her elbows.
'Dad has been weirder than usual. Every time I see him hes got this goofy grin on his face. He denies anything of course.'
'I agree. He has been acting strange. He's actually been quite pleasant to me these last couple months.'
'Strange.'
'Can't you see in his mind?'
She shook her head. 'I won't. I asked him not to do that to me. Only fair I show the same courtesy '
'Does Ezri know anything?'
'If she does she's being very enigmatic about it.'
'You still talk to your mother in that spirit plane your father created? Does she know?'
'She says when it's time to know something I'll know.'
'Don't worry, Love. Things are good. Let's not look for trouble.'
'Good advice.' She kissed him before reaching her arms up. He helped her stand. 'That reminds me, we still have to get a present for Rex and Vince. What do you get for a wedding present, anyway?'
Laughing, he helped her walk back to the castle. 'Already taken care of. Right after their wedding next month they will be official owners of The Cauldron. Rexton can own his own bar in a good location if he wishes. Vincent can stop trying to help him and focus on his upcoming art gallery.'
She stopped and looked at him.
'You're giving up your share of the restaurant?'
'Yes. It's no loss on my side.'
She smiled before kissing him
'You never cease to amaze me.'
'I'll try to keep up my record.' He teased.
They walked hand in hand In comfortable silence to the castle courtyard.
'Before you get your dessert we need to get real food first.'
She stopped and playfully glared up at him.
'Who is the mother here?'
Laughing again he stroked her nose.
'Just looking out for my family's well being. You didn't eat much at dinner. Nothing wrong with that right?'
'No.' She conceded while dragging him inside the back entrance to the kitchen.
The staff seemed more at ease with seeing them here.
At first they were all uncomfortable with James showing up. He'd never forget the first time he found her here kneading dough. She looked like an angel with flour clouding around her.
When it was obvious she liked to accompany her friends down here he soon took breaks from work down here too. He'd watch her chat about her day while making a pie or cooking soup.
His people soon got used to his presence in the servants quarters. Ezri and Humphrey would come down to and help from time to time. Well Ezri did. Humphrey just watched with James.
Now they both sat. He watched her eat bread with bits of meat. When she refused to eat more of it she devoured the ice cream.

'Off to bed now?'
His love looked at him with sleepy eyes.
'Yes, please?'
He walked over around the counter to help her stand. They both heard someone come in. This person smelled new. He smelled Lucas too. He quickly stood in front of Cassandra. His wolf on guard.
'James? What is it?'
'I don't know. Someone is coming. Lucas too.'
On que Lucas strolled through the swinging door.
'I'm glad you two are still awake. I was going to wait until morning. But she insisted.'
'She who?'
Cassandra peeked around James.
'Dad? What's going on?'
Lucas stepped forward. 'Maybe you should sit back down, Cassandra.'
'Dad. Stop the theatrics. I'm tired and full. What's going on?'
'James? Please just brace her.' He begged before disappearing back through the swinging door.
He appeared again a few seconds later. This time slowly.
James was shocked to say the least at the woman who was standing next to Lucas.
Looking quickly over at Cassandra he saw her eyes were wide. Her mouth hung open as a gasp broke from her.
'Mama?'
