(Jame's POV)
He lost control. Watching her turn her back on him. Knowing any second she'd disappear into her apartment. It made his wolf break out. He kissed her. Wanting to consume her. The feeling was euphoric. When she matches his moves it only encouraged his beast. She was light as a feather as he hoisted her up on to the door. Hearing her heartbeat spike. Her breathing turned to gasps. He couldn't resist winding her arms and legs around him. He needed to feel her in every way.
The heat between her legs beckoned him. He pressed in between her legs to seek some relief. Her gasp made his wolf growl. He could only feel, see, hear, taste her. He barely registered that she was pushing at his shoulders. His wolf was sending him an image of wanting to take her. Mark her. Mate with her. After he slowly set her down he carefully kept his face away from her sight. His wolf was battling to take control. He knew what he looked like at this moment. He felt his canines protruding from his gums. His eyes would be dilated and glowing green.
'James?'
Her voice tethered him back under control.
'Are you okay?' Her voice sounded small and unsure.
He couldn't help himself. He traced the outline of her face with his finger.
'Maybe we should go inside?'?' He knew what could happen if she said yes. But his wolf wanted her. The thought of just a second without her, was unbearable. Now that he tasted her. Touched her he wanted...no he needed more. He saw her eyes widened. Could see the thoughts going to battle in her head.
'I-I don't know...'
'I promise to keep my hand to myself. All we will do is talk.' It wasn't a complete lie. He did want to know more about her. But he wouldn't be able to sit and not touch her. Watching her bite her lip was almost his undoing.
'All we do is talk.' Relief went through him that she didn't turn him away. The room they stepped into was small. He could see her touches in the room. It was quaint but cheap. Not at all his style. But he was happy to be here with her. He sat next to her on the couch. Almost involuntary his hand brushed back her hair.
'You said just talk.' Her hand wrapped around his was heaven.
'I'm sorry. you're like a moth to a flame. irresistible.'
'Ok casanova. What should we talk about?'
His witty girl just gave him an opening.
'How about how your pulse quickens when I get close? or how your breathing becomes hitched? That if I touch you here,' The feel of silky smooth skin from her throat to brush the side of her breast in the v shape of her dress was better than velvet. 'Your body reacts.' He whispered in her ear.
Her voice sounded breathless. 'I have to admit, I was thinking of using you as a one night stand.'
She might as well have slapped him.
'But, i'm not that kind of girl...' He heard her babbling. His wolf was surfacing again. He kissed her again. Pushing her back on the sofa. Propping himself on his elbows while he played with her hair.
He realized she would fight him no matter what. She would not go willingly with him to the fae lands. But maybe he could negotiate. Appeal to her desires.
'What do you want out of life, Cassandra?'
She stilled. 'Well...Id like to finish school. Travel the world. Experience new things. What everyone wants essentially. I guess it's to have a spectacular life.'
Bingo!
'What if I said I could give you it all? You could see new things. Have a spectacular life. You would want for nothing. You could live like a queen.' Humor was in her eyes. She laughed.
'Oh yeah? What's the catch, prince charming?' She giggled again.
'Be with me. Stay by my side. Help me rule.'
He watched as the humor left her face. Her smile slipped away.
'Why are you looking at me like that?'
It was now or never. He had to try and make her understand.
'Have you ever thought you may have a true mate. You call them soul mates, yes.' He had heard humans talk of it countless times over the centuries when he came to the human world.
'What do you mean?' She was starting to look alarmed.
'I mean, do you believe someone is out there just for you? Created for you. You for that someone. To spend forever with.'
'Soul mate? No.'
He was growing frustrated. Why was she being so obtuse?
'Have you ever seen or believed there are things you can't explain?'
Cassandra squirmed under him then stood quickly.
'What the hell are you talking about?'
Rising to his feet he reached for her. Wanting to calm her. He needed to show her to make her understand. She would be afraid.
'I want to show you something. But I don't want you to be scared. I wanted to ease you into this but time is short.'
'Show me what?' She took a quick step back. He took a breath and focused. Willed his wolf forward. He was all too eager anyway.
She looked confused. 'How are you doing that?' His canines lengthened.
She backed against the wall behind her.
'Don't be scared of me, please.' His voice was a ferrel rasp. She stood still as a statue. Her eyes wide in terror.
'What the hell are you?'
'I'm a shifter. A werewolf is what you humans call us.'
She was still staring. Unmoving and unblinking.
'Cassandra.' He said slowly. 'I know this is...a lot to take in. But I won't hurt you. This morning when I saw you I knew. Your meant for me and I for you. We are destined to be together. In my world-'
'I think you should go.' Her whisper was barely audible. She was shaking. He was losing her. His wolf began to panic along with him.
'Sweetheart. Please. Let me explain.'
'Go! Get out!' She picked up the lamp next to the couch and hurled it at him. He ducked and rushed forward. He gripped her wrists when she started to flail at him.
'Cassandra! It's okay. I will not hurt you. I'm not going to hurt you.' She continued to struggle. His wolf was emerging further. His fingernails were becoming claws. If it went any further and he didn't get control he was going to shift. His wolf would go crazy and mark her.
'I said, get out!'
He held her against the wall. Cupping her face he made her look him in the eye. Fear was on her face. Unshed tears were pooled in her eyes.
'Cassandra. Think about it. What I'm offering you. I can give you everything. You will be my queen. You'll never have to deal with professors who want to see you destroyed. Never deal with bosses who take advantage of you. I can protect you. You can be happy. Be worshiped for the rest of your life.'
She stilled and looked up at him. 'I never told you about my boss.' She said slowly. 'You have been stalking me. I knew it!' She started to struggle again.
'He was hurting you! I took care of him for you!'
She froze. Her eyes became even wider as her heart came to a halt for a split second.
'What did you do to Leon, James?'
'He threatened you. He was hurting you. I made sure he didn't get away with it.'
'You...you killed him!?' She kicked and squirmed. His grip that returned to her wrists was unbreakable. 'Your hurting me! Let me go, please?'
'Not until you calm down.'
The door to the apartment crashed open. Her roommate stepped in. He could smell the alcohol. Her gaze was unfocused. It looked like it took her a minute to take in the scene.
'Amy! Get out of here. Go get help!'
Before he could do anything Amy fumbled in her pocket and pulled out pepper spray. She sprayed it right in his eyes. It barely made him flinch. It just angered his wolf. A snarl ripped out of his throat. He had to go. RIGHT NOW! His wolf was going to kill the woman that intruded. In a flash he left the two women. He kept running. He barely made it to the woods before he shifted completely and he was running on all fours. The howl of despair and frustration echoed through the night air.
It was around dawn when he shifted back. He went back to his shredded clothes. His phone screen was shattered. It was by sheer luck he could call his driver. After thinking all night a plan formed. One way or another she'd be leaving with him by tomorrow night.
