Addison's phone sat in the center of the bed on speaker, Bucky's voice coming through the device, "What do you mean someone was in the apartment, my love?"

"I mean when I walked through the door Bucky, there was a lamp on, I specifically turned everything off when I left, Hayden and Nicolas can attest to that. I like the city lights being the first thing I see when I walk into the house."

"And you're sure you didn't accidentally leave the light on?"

Addison wanted to scream, Rebecca's hand was resting on her shoulder to try and calm her sister in law down. She'd been paranoid about another assassination attempt for months now, with good reason. But recently Bucky has been questioning her own memory of things, and it was grating on her nerves, she wasn't crazy, she knew that, but he sure had a way to make it feel like she was. "Yes Bucky, I totally left the light on and wrote myself a menacing note just so you would get on the phone and pretend you care. You caught me."

"Watch your attitude." Bucky's voice became tight, and Addison could feel the agitation through the phone.

"Then stop making me feel crazy, I did everything you asked me to do, I vacated the apartment, called security, sent in the bomb squad and hazard management, went to a secure location, and suddenly you're questioning if I'm actually in danger," Addison leaned back against the headboard, Warner rubbing her back as tears pooled in her eyes. She had spent her whole life being ignored or told that she was insane for fearing for her life. And she thought she had moved past that when she married Bucky, she thought she had found someone who would believe her with no reservations, "I'm so tired," she whispered, running her palms down her cheeks, "I'm so tired of being scared, of being questioned, why don't you believe me?"

Bucky's sigh filled the air, his voice becoming softer as he spoke his next sentence, "I'm sorry my love, you're right, you shouldn't be questioned, thank you for doing what I asked," a break in between his words, "and footage has been sent to you right? Have you found anything?"

"Cameras were spliced around two pm," Warner cut in, taking his sister's hand in his to give a reassuring squeeze, "whoever did this was good, it was nearly impossible to see the cut, the time stamp gave it away, they were only there for about five minutes it looks like."

Bucky mumbling commands on the other end of the phone to his men could be heard, and as much as Addison wanted to be mad, she knew she couldn't. His priority this week was to secure the deal with the Lang Family. "My love, who could want you dead right now? All threats have been neutralized as far as our knowledge."

Addison laughed, outright laughed. She had pissed off half of New York it felt like, "Well let's see there's Charles, who may not be dead."

"Let's not forget Emmett," Rebecca added.

"There's also Stark," Warner chimed in.

"Thor, Parker, or any of the senators," Addison rattled off, tapping her fingers, "the list is endless honestly, if I haven't pissed them off then they're targeting me to get to you. People don't like you in power Bucky, you've uprooted their security and changed how things work around here. The best way to hurt you is to hurt me."

"Don't leave the house," Bucky stated, the chair he was sitting in creaking, "I'm on my way home, I can't figure this out from here. It's a four hour flight, are Hayden and Nicolas still in the house?"

"Yes sir," Hayden's voice was loud in a nearly silent room, making everyone on the bed jump. He was so silent that they had forgotten him and Nicolas were in the room with them. Addison had tried to excuse them to go down to the living room so they could have a small break, she was as safe as she could be in the Barnes Manor. But they refused to let Addison leave their sights, stating that when they signed the contract with Bucky, they were to not let Addison out of their direct reach if there was a threat to her life. And with the note that Hayden received just hours before, everyone concluded that her life was indeed in danger.
