Three days, she was locked in the house for three fucking days.
But the moment the roads were closed, Addison and Steve were in the car, making their way to the office. She was tired of everyone making decisions for her, and she would make sure Bucky knew, if he was going to leave her fine, she was a survivor, and she'd do it again. But she would get the last word. For the first time in her life, she would make sure everyone knew that she was in control of her destiny, whether Bucky was involved or not.
She was dressed for the confrontation, and her brother-in-law had already chosen to stand at her side, not at Buckys.
Addison wore a tight Valentino dress, the hem landing at her mid-thigh, and a pair of heels that echoed with each step she took. Three hours, she had three hours to stew over what she would say, what she would do. And with each step, anger bubbled up inside of her, if Bucky thought he was making every decision for her, he was wrong. "Mrs. Barnes," Addison stopped at the desk, the secretary cowering under her gaze, "Mr. Barnes is in a meeting, I can send word that you're here."
"No," She replied calmly, "What room?"
"Ma'am, with all due respect-"
"What. Room."
The secretary swallowed nervously before looking at the paper, "Room 307 ma'am."
Addison nodded, striding towards the elevator without a second thought, Steve right behind her while she kept her head held high, even though she was trembling. But nothing was said, and Steve pressed the button to get them to the thirteenth floor, where the meeting rooms were. Steve squeezed Addison's shoulder once, earning a small smile from her, before he pulled her into his side, his arm wrapped around her shoulders. She felt safe, for the first time since she'd gotten back, she felt truly safe with Steve, he wouldn't let anyone hurt her.
The elevator doors opened and Addison walked out, her shoulders back while she placed her hands on the meeting room door handles, letting out a singular breath. Trying to calm her racing heart, she would not cry, she would not falter on her anger, and she would not let another person make her decisions again. Steve was patient, waiting for her to make her entrance. So she gave herself three more breaths, before she shoved the doors open, walking into the meeting room and smiling when everyone looked at her.
"Hi baby," Bucky smiled, getting up to go hug her, but she pinned him with a glare that made him flinch and it was the first time anyone had seen the mob boss show some sort of fear.
"Sit down James," Addison's voice was strong as she stepped further into the room, watching as her husband sat back down, "Everyone out."
When no one made to move, Steve crossed his arms, "She said, everyone out." And that's all it took for people to start moving, to run out of the warzone that was about to erupt.
Addison didn't move from her spot, her eyes never leaving Bucky's who was fidgeting under her stare, and as soon as the door shut, she erupted, "How dare you, how dare you leave me when I've suffered at the hands of your family, when I've killed to protect you and Rebecca, when I've taken bullets, and kidnappings, and druggings, how dare you fucking leave me," Bucky flinched, but he didn't take his eyes off his wife, "And you didn't even have the fucking balls to say it to my face, no, I woke up to you gone, and Steve in the kitchen having to deliver the news that my husband, left me after I've barely adjusted to being back in the states because you didn't give me a chance to adjust," Addison let out a harsh breath, ignoring the urge to reach for her ring like she always did, "So now I'm here, and you better tell me the truth as to why you left."
