It was easy to slip back into the persona Addison had grown up using.
It was in a way, more comfortable for her, she was more suited for it. There weren't fancy parties and dresses made of gold on her body. She was no longer in the spotlight, it made the way she moved through the streets easy, almost as if she was a ghost. She didn't miss the stealing though, not in the slightest, it brought up all the nightmares she's had since she was a child. Of everyone's life she ruined because she stole to eat. But as she slid down a back alley, just feet from the Sons of Lucifer territory, she let out a breath of relief, holding the wallet in her hands she had taken from the rich business she passed. She remembered seeing him at one of the many parties that Bucky had her attend, he was rude, and demanding, and Addison was convinced he hit his wife because she flinched every time that he moved too fast. It only made her feel slightly guilty that she took his wallet, just for his wife, but she shrugged off the heavyweight of guilt, her heels echoing down the alley as she reached the meeting spot.
Keegan was leaning against the wall at the end of the brick alley on the opposite side, watching the cars pass and people they had grown up with work the streets.
The brick was scratchy against Addison's back as she leaned across from Keegan. It took one call, he heard her sniffle once, and he ran to her rescue, offering her safety in the Sons of Lucifer territory. Which she found comical, truly, with the past she and that group shared. But Keegan said nothing, reaching out his hand, just enough where she could lock her pinky with his, which she did instantly, her eyes on his face as he blew out a long smoke, the cloud surrounding him. "We need to get you in leather again," Addison watched as Keegan dropped the butt of the cigarette, the steel toe of his combat boot crushing the heated tobacco, "I'm tired of seeing you in all that Valentina and Moo Moo shit."
Addison smiled, letting out a small laugh, "It's Valentino and Miu Miu."
Keegan twisted his face in the way that always made her laugh, and then he was crushing her into a hug. One she hadn't realized she needed so bad. Keegan was her family, even when she had absolutely no one, she had always had Keegan. And as she walked away from the Barnes', she left behind the only family she had ever known. It was tragic, but Bucky said she was hard to love, and if he thought that, then the whole family must think the same thing. So, she melted into Keegan, her head resting on his shoulder as he rubbed her back, silently reinforcing that he loved her, she was the sister he never had. And she rejoiced in the fact that Keegan knew her deepest secrets, the horrors that haunted her at night, he lived them with her, and he never judged her. He never told her that he loved her, but she felt it in his actions, like now as she holds onto him as an anchor in a raging sea, he never had to say those three words, she just knew. If he didn't love her, he wouldn't be here.
"The girls are going to be happy to see you," Keegan spoke softly, wrapping an arm around her shoulder as he led her to his bike, "They've missed you."
Guilt landed its deathly blow, sending Addison back physically as her chest tightened. She was those girls everything, the mother to them when they had none. She may have been young, but these girls were taken as children, and she was safe. Addison took the abuse from Emmett and his father Charles, just so those girls never had to live in the dark world they were forced into. Or not fully, she wanted to make sure they had a little bit of joy in their life. "Oh God," Addison whispered, looking at Keegan when he approached with a helmet, sliding it over her head, "I left them, are they okay?"
"They're safe," Keegan tightened the strap on the helmet, "It's taken some time to dismantle the old command, but anyone working at Kings of Queens wants to be there, they're not longer forced into the job, there's a strict no touching policy that employees and patrons must abide by or they're banned, employees are dealt with accordingly, I've cut a lot of fingers off recently."
