Sarah and Paige end the conversation and everyone starts to head home. Lyanna and Sarah are still at the school to discuss the situation with Maggie. Sarah can't believe everything Avery told her. She can't imagine that Maggie really did it. Lyanna isn't sure she should believe Avery either. But Lyanna thinks it might be true.
"You shouldn't talk to her, you'll get aggressive and then Maggie won't say a thing," Lyanna said. "Then what am I supposed to do? I need to know Maggie's side of the story," Sarah said. "What if I go talk to her. I'll ask her what happened. She likes me, so I'm sure she'll say something," Lyanna said. "Okay, then let's do that. You go talk to her," Sarah said. "Are we going to your house then?" asks Lyanna. "We'll go to our house," Sarah said. "Our house?" asks Lyanna. "Yes, Lyanna, our house. You are there so often and the children love you. It's your home too, you're always welcome," Sarah said. "That's so sweet. Then hurry to our house," Lyanna said.
Sarah and Lyanna walk to the car together and drive home. All the way home, Lyanna thinks about everything that has happened today. It really has been a crazy day. A lot happened, a lot of good things, a few not so good things. She had a great time with Sarah today, but she also feels bad about the situation with Avery and Maggie. But she really wants to think about it as little as possible. We'll just have this conversation with Maggie and then we'll be done. That's what she thinks. Well, she hopes. Lyanna and Sarah arrive home. They get out of the car and enter the house. Sarah runs upstairs to get Maggie and Lyanna makes tea for Sarah, Maggie and herself. Maggie thinks this is really strange, that her mother so angry is with her all of a sudden. The fact that she has to come downstairs for a talk is even stranger to her. Maggie and Sarah go downstairs, and Maggie sits down on the couch right after. Sarah glances over to see what Lyanna does. When the tea is ready, Lyanna takes two cups and Sarah takes one for herself. Lyanna takes a seat on one of the chairs next to the couch. Then Sarah sits in another chair next to Lyanna.
"What the hell is going on? Did I do something?" asks Maggie. "We just want to talk to you for a minute. We heard something at school about what happened today. Do you have anything to say about it?" asks Lyanna. "Something that happened at school today? I have no idea," Maggie says. "Let me help you refresh your memory. It's about Avery," Sarah said. "I want to talk about it, but I only want to tell Lyanna about it now," Maggie said. "Why don't you want to tell me, Maggie? You know you can tell me anything," Sarah said. "I know, mom. But I can't tell you yet," Maggie said. "Sarah, just go upstairs. I'll be right up," Lyanna said. "Okay," Sarah said.
Sarah goes upstairs slightly irritated. She goes to chill with her son some more while her friend is talking to her daughter.
"So tell Maggie, what happened with Avery?" asks Lyanna. "What did Avery say?" asks Maggie. "You need to tell your side of the story before I tell Avery's," Lyanna says. "Okay. I'm not really sure how to say this, but Avery and I are in a relationship. Not very long, but we have been for a while. And I came to see her yesterday, and then we kissed. Jackson came in screaming. He said that Avery was crazy and that I should be careful who I hang out with. He's crazy. He told Avery to keep her paws off me and then he dragged Avery out. I had to stay in class. He came back to me a little later and said Avery wasn't coming back to me. He had fired her. What an asshole. And then he sent me home," Maggie said. "Is that really what happened?" asks Lyanna. "Did Avery say anything else?" asks Maggie. "Avery didn't say anything about you having a relationship, but that's probably to protect herself," Lyanna said. "Well, I guess not. When I had to leave Jackson, I went to see Avery for a while. And then she broke up with me. She didn't want any more trouble over the relationship," Maggie said. "Are you okay? Breakups are still hard. How do you feel?" asked Lyanna. "I understand why she broke up with me. But it hurts," Maggie said. "She was in a relationship with someone else too," Sarah said. "Wait, Mom, have you heard everything?" asks Maggie. "I've heard enough. Maggie, Avery was in a relationship with someone else when she was with you," Sarah said. "How do you know that?" asks Maggie. "I caught her with Taylor the other day," Sarah said. "Are you kidding me, mom? Are you serious?" asks Maggie. "Yes, she is serious," Lyanna says. "I'm the one she cheated with?" asks Maggie. "That's right," Sarah said. "I don't know what to say," Maggie says.
Maggie walks away and then quickly goes upstairs. Sarah and Lyanna feel so sorry for her. Maggie was really happy with Avery, but now she regrets everything she did. She is devastated.
"What have you all heard?", Lyanna asks. "Not everything, but enough. She liked her, and Avery just wanted someone to kiss," Sarah said. "I feel so bad for her. Maggie deserves much better than Avery," Lyanna said. "Yes she does," Sarah said. "But does this mean she's a lesbian?", Lyanna asks. "No, I don't think so. A few months ago she had a relationship with a boy. But lately she doesn't tell me everything, as you could hear. So I don't really know," Sarah said. "It's going to be okay, Sarah. I'm sure there will be a time when she will tell you more. Sometimes it's better if you don't know everything Sarah said," Lyanna said. "I know Lyanna, but it doesn't feel right," Sarah said. "It's strange now, but it's part of life. People change, and so does Maggie," Lyanna said.
Lyanna and Sarah sit on the couch. For a moment, neither knows what to say. Not sure what to do anymore. Lyanna rests her head on Sarah's shoulder. Peace and quiet is what they both need right now. And the only way they can find that is with each other.
